A few nights ago in Sinking Sands our tank was pulling the Sentinels of Anuk for the carpet quest and having trouble getting to them without getting unwanted aggro. I offered to help by using my bow but instead I found that I could use Surveil from farther away. The best part is the mob would go running right to him and I was ready to pop it with Hidden Fire.

Just thought others might find this useful if they aren't already doing it.

Gnaril

52 Ogre Ranger of Unrest

<Knights of the Night>

I do that a few times with friends of mine... when they get "pull lazy" I just go oops, you got a mob on you somehow mate !!

PS: never do it in an unknown group, unless asked to specifically.

I have been using that for a really long time. But beware, if mobs are friendly in any way, they will all add while using it. I have found that miracle shot is my best pulling CA. Confusion shot has to much chance of adding additional aggro to us with all our procs. Maybe they should make it so confusion arrow cant proc in any way? Will lower dps in a really long fight but will make us MUCH better pullers. (Might actually add group utility to a ranger, who knows.)

P.S. That was just an idea I thought of every once in a while, if anyone has thoughts on it let me know.

I have a rule about pulling in groups. If i can solo it, i'm allowed to pull it. =P

I really love the Stalk line. I've always gotten much use of that CA. It's a convenient way to pull specific mobs and a great way to reduce hate. I group regularly with the same people, and the tanks always let me know when it would be better to surveil a waiting mob into there open arms. My raid leader has come to appreciate the art as well. We were actually using my surveil to pull mobs to the MT last night in the Living Tombs epic instance. Pretty handy when there are groups of epics everywhere. :smileywink:

Side note: it cracks me UP when I surveil stuff to unsuspecting mates, especially if it's a non aggro mob or gray. (don't worry, I pick the mob off before it does any damage)

ROFL!!!! I love it! As I sit here, I have the BIGGEST grin on my face! hehehehe!

I love hearing the chorused strings of: 'Whaa?!?!' and '[Removed for Content]?!?!' (and various others expressions of surprise - lol)

That just cracks me UP!!!!!

So when you got in trouble..did they stand you in a corner or.... stick you in a cage in Solusek's Eye? :smileyvery-happy:

LOL I know... most of the guildies are onto me by now, but every once in a while they miss me going invis and wonder why the gray level 19 gnoll suddenly got so brazen.

Yeah when I get in trouble they make me stand in the back of the group... and sometimes they take away my bow so I can't kill everything before they see it

Heh I have gotten pretty good at useing Surveil with Thorny Trap on "iffy" pulls for the group, though I am getting a bit frustrated with some of our tanks not listening to me when I say "I can pull that from here" and being ignored as the tank tries to clear a path.

It is a great gag spell in a fun group.

But something that alot of people need to learn about rangers... this spell makes raid pulling something not so scary and the agro stays on the tank when done properly.

I have used this spell on guild raids to pull mobs. It has some very nice benifits when used properly.

1. Be sure to place the main tank either slightly ahead of you (between you and the mob) or next to you.

2. Make sure the raid party is behind the two of you by a good 10 paces.

3. After casting back up behind the raid party, then let the DMG fly :smileywink:

Doing this will keep you alive and keep your agro lower for the first couple of rounds of dmg. It also helps your main tank get a good hold of the mob so that first dmg wont bounce the mob to someone else.

Just food for thought.
