I'll take a shot at this one...

It is my understanding, that it does not matter what arrows you use when you are using a ranged spell. In that case, the damage of the spell takes over and the arrow does not play a factor.

Now, if you are just auto-attacking, then I was told it does make a difference. Supposedly the higher the quality the arrow the harder it will hit on auto. I havent actually tested this out, as it is very very rare that im not using a ranged spell.

I will say, that with the amount of arrows we go through, it is very impractical to use much of anything else but the summoned ones, not to mention crazy expensive. I would love to have all cobalt arrows (just to look at 'em..hehe) but to pay 50s each when we go through thousands every night... no way. Ive been using the makeshift arrows since I got the spell, and its working just fine for me. I highly reccomend getting the MasterII of it that summons 65 at once. You can never have too many arrows.

/agree.

The higher the tier the more damage they will do on auto-attack. I just use summoned as well.

In the interest of replying to a post and not making another, I have a question about arrows.

I just got my first summon arrows spell, I was planning on going woodworker to make my own arrows and maybe bows.

Is woodworking worth it on the basis of making bows and arrows?

Would it be better for me to go alch or provisioner or something.

If I remember correctly, scholars make spell upgrade and alch's make CA upgrades?

Any thoughts? I'm only like lv8 on the artisan side, lv20 DE ranger on the adventure side.

The jewelers make CA upgrades for scouts. I understand that crafted arrows do more damage than summoned. I've never tested the theory myself, but others have and they say it's true. I'm just to lazy to parse. Alchs make poisons, which is probably the most important items you have when it comes to overall DPS. But then again, when you get to T5 or T6 and see the price on food and drink, you might wish you were a provisioner.

If you are in a guild, it doesn't really matter what you choose because everyone provides something and no matter what path you choose, you will eventually depend on other atisan classes to help provide the things you need.

I'm a jeweler and It works out really good for me. My only gripe is that in order to provide my own CA upgrades, I always had to have my jeweler at or above my ranger's.

I'd say go Alchy if you still can. Being able to make your own poison will save you a ton of money.

As far as arrows goes all you'll ever need are the summoned arrows and the hunting arrows from Antonica beach (slashers for pierce immune mobs). Cobalt arrows do some amazing damage on auto-attack but are completely wasted with our bow CA's. I have a stack I got from a friend to play with now and then but 99.9% of the time they not needed. Guess if you grouped with people that could haste you up real good they'd be cool since they do like 1K damage from auto bow, but really justuse them for fun.

The one problem with 'crafting for your class' is that you need to keep your crafting level >= to your combat level. If you want to be a woodworker/alchemist/jeweler you will have to work just as hard at that as you do your adventuring. This can be quite a pain if you don't enjoy it. I went Carpenter. the ONLY skill that in NO way helps you with adventuring, and I love it

Thought i would add alittle more info on arrows. As Crychtonn mentioned having some hunting arrows for slash damage is always good to carry a few stacks. And there are a couple other types made by woodworkers. Bodikin(sp?) arrows are supposedly to be more accurate when autofiring and cause pierce damage And there are also round tipped arrows that can do crush damage. I don't get the oppurtunity to mess around with these types much as there never seem to be any on the broker. I mainly just use summoned arrows and the hunting arrows sold in Qeynos Harbor.
