Dont fear the Reaper...or the nerf bat

Hiya Rangers! I haven't logged in recently but did today and was kind of surprised by a few things.  I know with all of the changes to ranger post LU16...I think that was the combat update one (fracking old age getting to me I suppose)...anyway, combat revamp made alot of us paranoid about the devs holding the nerf bat getting the swing away sign in regards to Rangers. I have also noticed some people wanting to come in and talk about their exploits in game...not exactly bragging in the Rangers for teh win sort of way but a Hey I realized I can do this sort of way.  I am not saying anyone is rude responding to these posts with calls to quell the "bragging"  but there is almost a sense of fear and that people are wound very tight when it comes to posts re: Rangers. I am not calling anyone out on this...merely trying to illuminate our community to the fact that a fear of something unseen is taking over our forum.  And I personally dont really like the tense feel to our forum right now. I for one take the advice of one of our forums unspoken leaders, Jay42--Kaeros of Butcherblock...and that is to adapt and overcome.  We have always done it...dating back to EQ1 when the ranger class was one of the longest running jokes in history.  We did it with EQ2 at launch when there were many bugs all over the game...we dont lose our cool.  We learn and adapt to the pitfalls life and sony throw at us. In closing, I guess what I am saying is...relax folks...there is nothing to fear from my perspective as a ranger...I was a ranger before the revamp and I will be a ranger after the next ten revamps/nerfs/expansions.  Rangers are as the devs intended at this point in the game in my opinion.  And to be honest, when do the dev's listen to us anyway [Removed for Content] <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> whether it is about good things or bad.  j/k I love this community and would not want to see fear become an oppressive aspect of it. Some people have been making posts that are bound to be counterproductive to the future of our class.  I have no problem telling stupid people posting stupid things to shut up.  This has nothing to do with paranoia.  Our class has changed countless times since launch, and will continue to change.  On the other hand, why help it along by giving other forum whiners ammunition to use 'against' us? <div></div>

A good ranger shouldn't need to worry about what might happen next update if their effective with playing their class, and were effective playing their class befor the combat revamp. like I said...I am not calling people out...Fennir youre usually pretty diplomatic about all things ranger :/ I really was just kind of trying to give folks something to think about on both ends...while I agree that posting like a braggart is and should be discouraged...I just am a bit concerned about a change I see here. It very well could all be in the mind of an old man who doesnt want to fear the Nerf Bat...again I think the world of our forums and the members of our class...I wasnt calling anyone out...just saying keep it in mind. Also, touch of the beholder was nerfed once...if they didnt get it right the first time they certainly will soon.  There are always discreet ways to let each other know of good opportunities and items for rangers.  However, at the same time...if I find an obvious exploit in a game, I will report it so that the Dev's dont think our class should be nerfed just the exploit fixed. Anyway, this isnt necessarily a post to get worked up about....just having my quick thought on the forum...it will die soon and dissappear. Peace Health and Happiness Sai <div></div>

I don't fear anything the devs do.  I am incredibly supportive of their vision, and agree with 99% of the changes they make to the game.  I am very happy with my class right now. Unfortunately, some others are not happy with their class, and will use anything and everything at their disposal to do something about it, which can and will include taking stupid posts out of context from forums of classes that they feel are 'overpowered,' whether it's true or not.  This can only be seen as a negative thing... so why fuel it? So to clarify, I don't vilify these stupid posts out of fear, I do it simply because they're stupid posts and should be noted as such.  Leoric's thread is a great example. <div></div>

I EVEN made a nice diagram and posted it in each subclasses forum so they can take a look and see exactly how I did it and they will now know exactly what they need to to make it so we get nerfed so bad a lvl 5 mob could kill us. Give me a break with this post....it's us against the man who is trying to hold us down! Rangers need to be nerfed in certain areas, its a simple fact.  Yes, we are an amazing class to play right now.  We will still be after any future nerfs or buffs.  Yes, we are an overpowered class right now.  Don't make it seem like we need to be children and hide advantages of the ranger class or any other class.  Many of the advantages we have are intended by SOE, while several are not.  It is a balancing act, not a life or death situation for the ranger class. Whatever they change about the game and our class makes no difference.  If you understand your class and you play it to its full potential, you will always be overpowered in some way. <P>/shrug</P> <P>I agree with Sai, there's no need to get paranoid and no need to brag. No real need to tell anyone they're stupid or squabble like children either, but people will do it. My advice is to ignore it and move on (our forum is still 90% fun despite the 10% crap) or just constructively discourage them.
