<div></div><div></div>Ranger since december 2004. I loved the time when ranger was a rare class. Hard to play but able do outdamage wizards and warlocks on single targets...some kind of elite. Now i feel like a caster with a bow... much easier to play with ub0r DPS. <span>:smileyindifferent:</span> Ventural of Innovation <div></div><p><span class="time_text"> </span></p><p>Message Edited by HerrReinsch on <span class=date_text>11-22-2005</span> <span class=time_text>04:41 AM</span>

<DIV>My Ranger was the first character I created when I started this game back in Feb.  Always loved it.  Never cared about it being "broken" I worked around that and found lots of ways to have fun.  I still play that character.  Just refuse to power through it, even tho I could.  heheh.</DIV>

Ranger since birth:smileyvery-happy:smileyvery-happy:. Played a ranger in pnp D&D and have played a ranger always. In EQ2 RAnger is my only class had him since Dec 10, 2004. I will always play rangers no matter how hard they swing the nerf bat. i think rangers are one of the few classes that have a very powerful draw on some people. Most people that play rangers feel an affinity for them that goes beyond how powerful they are. I don't think many other classes produce such loyalty from their play base.

<DIV>I started EQ2 in January of '05. Having never played any form of RPG/online game (it's all my bf's fault that I'm so hooked/obessed with EQ2 :smileytongue:  before EQ2 - my idea of 'gaming' was old school Mario Bros. and Tetris LOL) ...I flipped through the little EQ2 handbook and Rangers just sounded so ... Cool ... I went Ranger and never looked back.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I loved my Ranger then and love her even more now! I had no idea we were ever 'broken' until I joined the Ranger forums about a month or 2 ago (imagine my surprise/confusion LOL).... :smileyvery-happy: I've always thought my Ranger kicked @ss! </DIV>

<P>Started Jan 2005, first toon in EQ2, been my main ever since. The tagline in my sig is for real. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>But... what's the point in separating 'old school' rangers from new players? Is it that you don't want our class to be the flavor of the month? I know our newfound popularity has turned a few people off. On the one hand, the more the merrier, but on the other, I kinda like relative obscurity. I just don't want too much attention being paid to our class - the more high profile professions seem to be the ones that have the most drama and misperceptions attached to them. (All of you out there bragging about soloing heroic ^^^ mobs aren't helping.) <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

Ranger since November 14, 2004. Always loved the class, always had fun playing it, always enjoyed the EQ2 Ranger community. Even if I leave EQ2 someday, I will always play a Ranger in whatever game I'm in. Like others here, I am drawn to the class...it feels like "home" to me. Hard to define really, but it's there. <span>:smileyhappy:</span> 51 Ranger of Guk <div></div>

And Rangers are still not "uber" and "easy to play." Try tanking with a Ranger sometimes, or just soloing in an area with group mobs. Try running your Ranger through Pillars of Flame without Hunt on, or try stealing aggro in a raid from the raid tank. Rangers still don't have much of anything in the way of mitigation...we have outstanding DPS but we can't take the hits. We're not supposed to. I guess I just don't see us as being that easy to play. <DIV>I dunno, I thought we did become uber, and with this new found uberness came easyness. especially to solo. Jus tnot too long ago I solod a few epic GX2 mobs (50+). Also got Perdition down to 30% (solo), so I'll beat his [expletive haxx0red by Raijinn] down tomorrow maybe. He's tricky if my stuns dont happen to land. Well, not tricky. Impossible lol. So i guess it all depends on my proc rate. Now if I had another ranger with me we coudl definatley duo him. *ponders* Also, for my next trick. I will try to solo scornfeather, as I bet some guildees I could..lol.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I even tried to solo Acrinomiad as there wasn't enough guildees on to kill him. That though didn't go over well at all. not one bit. <DIV>Ranger since March, 2005.  Like a few other people have said, I didn't care if the class seemed a little gimped because it was a completely different play style from my previous class (Guardian) and it was fun to kite epic x2's around.  Of course I can't do that any more since the CU but now I just love how much damage I do, so I'm very happy with that.</DIV>

I played an ogre SK in EQ1 but I always liked using a bow and I rarely tanked. Ranger seemed to make sense and I wanted to stay an ogre no matter what class I picked. <P>Wow lots of Rangers from Unrest on here.  "Raise the roof with the minataur axe!"  Nice to know I have fellow Rangers on my server posting here.</P> <P>I've played since Beta last year and then since release.  Played up until March 2005 then took about a six month hiatus to catch up with real life and I've been back playing some more since September.  Oh and played a Ranger in EQ1 for several months up to level 36 I think.  It was fun but I like EQ2 much better.</P> <P>I'll keep my eye out for some of you on the Ranger channel.</P>

Don't remember exactly except that it was right after frogloks appeared. So pre-CU  but darned if I can remember how pre-CU. Not that it really matters. Doesn't mean those who came after the CU know the class any less, or those who started before it know the class any better.  <div></div>

Ranger since November 17th and while I might have up and coming alts I'll always be ranger even if they make us into bobble heads that barely move and can barely use a bow anymore (knock on wood).   Ranger is the best class to me no matter how good or bad we are at any given stage of the game and I wouldn't trade my Rhanin for a lvl 60 of every other class in the game.

<DIV>*/roleplay*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I remember my last day in Kelethin fairly well. There was a chill, unnatural wind in the late morning air. It bit harshly at the skin of every Elf in the wood but would not shake a single leaf on a single tree. From the top of the ramp leading up from the bank one could see through to a clear sky but the sun's light did not stream through the branches in its normal fashion. The normal kaleidoscope of light and shadow was simply gone. The bats, bears, dear, spiders, and wasps that were always so common on the forest floor were not to be found, nor heard. The forests of Faydwer were indeed a cold and dark place that day. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Warrior's guild were equipping their armors and taking their posts, the Ranger's guild had scouts fanning out through the forest, and the Druid's Guild was a frenzy of spell casting as all tried to divine some reason or meaning behind this unusual morning. They wouldn't have to wait long for their answers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For myself, I was huddled in the back of the rarely visited fletching shop on top of the maze of ramps rising from lift one. I sat there reading a letter that had arrived the night before, one of many letters written by my older brother detailing his long and endless quests in the name of Tunare. I had grown up on these letters and a memory almost too faded to put a face to their author. The tales they contained a grown to legend in my young eyes.</DIV> <DIV>The first had been a goodbye placed on our home's only table in the middle of the night as my brother had set off with a large troop of adventurers to heed the call of aid from the far away forests of Kithicor, a forest that could not be saved. Form that day a taint had settled onto Norath and from that day my brother had set out to combat it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Week by week more notes would arrive. The earliest ones detailed simple travels and the wonders of Norath like the long ramp leading from the Highpass by the fallen wood down to the Karanas, and the incredible axe my brother had obtained from a gnoll there. Soon the correspondence would detail combat against the Aviaks of Lake Rathe, the Giants of the Rathe Mountains and the Deserts of Ro and the frigid north of Everfrost, even the dragons Vox and Nagafin. I thought those last incredible though my brother's letter seemed almost irritated at having to endure a ritual of the Halasian Shamans known as a buff line before entering combat.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The letters continued depicting battles against Innoruk and Cazik Thule in the alter planes, to a horde of riches called Sebilis in the land of Kunark, fighting ancient dragons from Velious in battlegrounds called the Necropolis and Temple of Veeshawn in Velious. A letter following that did not detail battle, but rather my brother’s awe at finding his way to the Plain of Growth and actually standing before Tunare herself and the forging of the blades Earthcaller and Swiftwind. Later there would be details of battles on the moon of Luclin against the might of Seru, and the Emperor of a snake race said to be feared even by the powers that forged Norath. Towards the end I read details of more battles in the alter planes against nearly every deity I had ever heard a mortal had worshiped. The Tribunal, Marr, Bertoxulus, the entire Thule family, the entire Zek family, an unknown called Agnarr who was so powerful he had captured Karana, Fennin Ro and his errant child, and even the entire Rathe Council.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Yes, in my young eyes, this was certainly the stuff of legend. This last, final note however was different. This final note did not detail any travels but rather contained instruction. I was to take it to Maesin Trueshot and begin my own training as a Ranger. It was time to begin my own journey. Then, as I stood to start across the long series of ramps leading to the Ranger's guild on the far end of the city the true events of the day began. It had been the day that would begin the final war, which would lead the rending and the shattering. It was the last day I would see my home and the last letter I would ever receive from my brother.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Looking at the axe in my hand, the very same axe my brother had won in Highpass centuries ago, I pull away from my memories and utter a silent curse at the Mother of All as I walk past the Eldaar tree of the Qeynos grove. My brother had served her, won hard battles in her name, and in the end had been forsaken by her. I will walk the forests alone, not depending on some greater power, not making the only mistake that could bring down one so great as my brother.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*/roleplay*</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I played a Ranger in EQ1 from release up through the Planes of Power expansion, after which I left that game. In EQ2, my main has been a Scout->Predator->Ranger since the first time I logged in. Anybody else from EQ1 remember when Sunmoon(Ranger's Glade) got several hundred of us together to raid Crushbone as a horde of lvl1&2 Rangers? Man, that was fun untill the server crashed.</DIV>
