View Full Version : Any Rangers Making Their Own Arrows?
I'm a newb ranger(22) and woodworker(21). However, now I'm questioning how valuable this combo will be. It just seems that rangers eat through arrows too quickly to justify the time it takes to gather material and make them. It's a shame to think that the class that uses the most arrows is going to buy them from NPCs instead of players. Is there any benefit from using player made arrows vs. vendor arrows? Also, as it's been stated elsewhere on this forum, arrows need more description when examined. So, should I give up on the idea of keeping myself supplied with handmade arrows?

Well, since we get the summon arrow line:21 Makeshift Arrows: Creates arrows in the ranger's inventory. (carbonite arrows)34 Salvaged Arrows: Creates arrows in the ranger's inventory. (feyiron arrows)48 Backup Quiver: Creates arrows in the ranger's inventory. (fulginate arrows)the need for creating _regular_ piercing arrows is not in a high demand (you actually dont have to buy em with NPC:s either, well maybe at start but not on the long run, atleast i havent)The crafted slashing (hunting) arrows and blunt arrows however are nice. Dunno what's the advantage of bodkin arrows, but they supposedly are more accurate(?), which maybe means a tad bit more dmg than _regular_ arrows?++Xan

Personally I do make my own arrows for my ranger. And the damage difference is very significant. Around 2-3 times the damage of my summoned arrows when shot as an auto attack. I am a heavy arrow user, using around 4000 to 8000 arrows a day. Makeshift/Salvaged arrows just can't keep up, and buying that many arrows would just be crazy expensive.

I make my own, altho use makeshift when i run out. I tend to find handmade ensure that my CAs hit 100% of the time, e.g. Triple Fire all three arrows hit, whilst with makeshift on average only two hit.

How long does it take to make, say, 100 arrows?

Actually as far as I know when using your combat arts, it doesn't matter which arrows you use. However during your auto-attack it does. Also for Triple Fire, the description says "If one of these attacks misses, the successive attacks will miss automatically" therefore your arrow type makes no difference for Triple Fire.

Actually, arrow type does affect your combat arts now. Any combat art that says "melee damage" will work off your primary hand (if melee), and your arrow type (if ranged). They changed this with LU16. Put slashing arrows in your quiver and your combat arts will all do slashing damage (except for the ones like Sharp Shot that do heat damage).

The damage from the arts will be the same no matter what tier arrow you use (even tin). Autoattack damage is affected by arrow tier (which is why I've been buying fulginate hunting arrows from peacock club).
Message Edited by Fennir on 11-18-2005 12:09 PM

gotcha, then they really need to make arrows easier to make - cause they are a royal pain, and costly too at the rate rangers go through them.

Oh joy if SOE got their act together and changed the amount of arrows you made per combine to 100 or even 200 instead of 25 then woodworking would be kewl for any ranger.

One thing iv noticed during duels is that I hit harder with fulganite and get less misses/resists. Edit: I meant better with fulganite a higher tier arrow than feyiron a lower tier arrow.

What you might find use later on for making your own arrows or hire a woodworker for is arrows made from rare ingots.

Message Edited by Tevf on 11-18-2005 09:19 PM
