<DIV>I will begin that long trek up to 40 again with an alt as soon as I hit 50 (which won't be that much longer); and I am trying to make a choice between a ranger or a swashy, could some of you provide me with a pro's list of why you are a ranger. I know why I love being a wiz, I love dps, I tried to make my second alt selection based off of DPS as well, since I don't really like being a tank.</DIV> <DIV> How does a swashy compare to you (I only ask because it does not look like the swashy forum is all that active); I have never grouped with a swashy since I am in a evil based guild, I have grouped with 2 rangers, one prepatch and one current guildy, but I have not grouped with him enough to make a decision for my second class. Plus the description of a swashy sounds cool, but I can't stand to play gimped classes (played mine gimped for long enough).</DIV> <DIV>So why did you choose ranger (or swashy), and why do you still love your class?</DIV>

<P>well rangers cant tank they are pure DPS, rogues are able of tanking tho.</P> <P>Swashies can tank when needed i have had a brigand tank poets palace and a swashy tank icy dig b4 the expansion I never seen a ranger do that!</P> <P>When it comes to DPS tho rangers totally waste rogues i think unless its vs groups well not sure about that at high tiers but i reckon it should be.</P> <P>Also rogues are close combat fighters and do well in tight corners rangers are open field DPS and do best in open grounds where they can use bow wihtout being afraid of getting a buncha adds!</P>
<P>Rangers are designed for extreme damage. Swashes are designed for damage and utility. Generally speaking, they are more adaptable than we are, and we do more damage than they do. That's not to say I won't get outdamaged by a swashie or that rangers are so limited that all we can do is point and shoot. </P> <P>If you want a straight damage class, I'd go for ranger. We're really, really good at what we do. If you prefer some more flexibility and a bit of variation, I'd go for swash. Personally, if I were you, I'd actually pick swashbuckler. Being a ranger would put you in much the same role as your warlock, and in my case I only really enjoy my alts if they play a different role than my main. But if you're looking for the same role from a diffferent perspective, ranger is a good option. Enjoy!</P>

<DIV>Rangers are very good at soloing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you want a challenge. Go ranger.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>They are alot more dependant on the players personal skill than any other class.</DIV> <DIV>Especially when kiting. (read the guide to kiting)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One of the few if not the only class thats capable of soloing bosses that are 1, 2.. even up to 4 levels higher than themselves.</DIV> <DIV>This isnt a class thing so dont worry about getting nerfed. but this is VERY dependant on personal skill and practice.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>IOW.</DIV> <DIV>Rangers are super dps and can solo by kite or even melee when the time calls for it.</DIV> <DIV>Im a 43 ranger on faydark my name is Dreaming. Im an extremely formatable and flexable ranger.(according to people i've teamed with) Got the avoidance of a monk. ^_^ and when in a team easily got the mitigation of a heavy tank</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers are extremely fun in my opinion and in the opinions of all the rangers i know ^_^</DIV> <DIV>It's the only class i have zero regrets playing and if i had to remake all my charactors. ranger would be first on the list.</DIV>
