I did some brief experiments with Cheap Shot last nght and couldn't conclude much other than the stun seems shorter. The rollover description said that the duration was two seconds, but it seemed longer than that to me. Anyone get a chance to play with this and understand what changed? I still don't get the 'maintained' aspect of it.

I'm just as baffled as you. The note makes no sense to me. Maybe I'll post in the Abilities Forum and see if I can get Lockeye to chime in with some info. It seemed to be working the same to me though. Oh, and the reduced duration may be a bug. There's a thread BG has been replying to about stuns, stifles and something else being lowered without and update note stating as much.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=spellart&message.id=67540

I didn't get to adventure at all yesterday (gah - was locked in tradeskill making orbs for everyone and there mother since they changed ranged slot for the classes that don't have ranged ability). However, my BF is a swashie and his puter is right beside mine so I was watching him while he experimented with the Cheap Shot changes. He says it seems like...Cheap Shot will hold for the full 6 sec on non-heroics, and 2 sec on heroics. That's how it seemed to be working for him...

Hopefully I can escape tradeskill-hell tonight and go test out my shiny new quiver and see how Cheap Shot is going to work for me. :smileytongue:

Theres actually two different effects that happen with cheap shot. The duration of Cheap Shot is 6 seconds still, vs Standard or Weaker mobs. The two second duration is on Heroic or Weaker mobs. Both land at the same time. So say on a standard or weaker mob, it would get hit by both the 6 second and the 2 second, until both wore off. Whereas if it was as Heroic mob, only the 2second stun would land.

I played around with cheap shot alot last night and found that it is not holding long enough for me to get behind a mob and hit it if it is a 1 arrow up mob non herioc. Therefore it cannot be working for the full 6 seconds on the less than herioc mobs.

So your 1 up arrow mob being above Standard will only get the 2 sec stun. Before the change I believe the stun would drop on damage, even if it is .0001 seconds after Cheap Shot lands.

I was playing with this some last night and it seems it lasts 6 seconds on non ^ mobs. On ^ of any sort it lasts 2 seconds, which is what it was pre-LU13, except now it doesn't break on a hit in those 2 seconds. You can still pull off backstab attacks, you just need to be quick about them.

It seems to be a bug :smileyhappy: Our initial investigations have turned up some issues with the changes. It does appear that some of the changes ended up unintentionally modifying the global defaults for some spells and combat arts. I'll let you know more about what we're changing and what exactly happened after we've discussed and investigated further.
Ryan "Blackguard" Shwayder
See the full thread here: http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=spellart&message.id=67540 (insert URL button doesn't work with my Firefox browser)
