Hi all. I ama a new Ranger,lev 24 now, and just got to SPlitpaw. Can anyone give me any tips ont he tactics used for the splitpaw zones? Ive tried the hideout and arena and Im having problems. In the arena I cant get past the group of 3 right before the champ. I can get 2 but cant kill them fast enought to get the third. In the den I sneak around but my Hunt breaks whenever I blow up a crate. Are there any specific tactics you all have used that work well? Thanks for the input in advance. ONly a very few rangers have managed to complete the Arena. Its very difficult needing abit of luck, good gear, poisons, etc to get through. As for your invis dropping when you blow up a crate, you must be on top of the crate when it goes off. Once you light the fuse, back peddle out of the way as far as possible and your invis should stay on.

Makes sence about the arena. As far as the crates go Im pretty far away and around a bend and it still goes off. Does it have something to do with injured gnolls? Buaf

Yes, if a gnoll is caught in the blast radius of the barrel explosion, it will cancel your stealth. You need to either kill any gnolls near the crates or wait til they path away.

As far as the Arena... I can't offer much help because I did not start doing Arena til the low- to mid-40's in level, but had no problems with it at all. And it's difficult to say what could make the difference.

Also, to the group of 3, be sure to take out the illusionist 1st, then the other caster (healer?) and then the dwarf fighter... Worked best to me atleast this way... I can get 2 but cant kill them fast enought to get the third. (Atleast didnt break for me the last time i was there) Are there any specific tactics you all have used that work well? Well, my tactics were always quite simple. Be CAREFUL. Use sneaking to scout places (unless you dont know the place by heart already). Learn the mobs types... by error usually Then create the appropriate tactics for em... Like heavy casters (ones which eg. stifle / stun / make massive dmg) 1st, then healers, leave melee:ers always last... Also, be careful if you have to pull mobs which are close each other... those sneaky bastaads are quite often social And, be sure you have atleast some space to back off and a clear way to escape if your not sure you can handle the fight. Thanks for the input in advance. Np, hope it helps! Buaf 24 Ranger Faydark

++Xan

one tactic that i needed to use for my cleric to beat the arena was to mentor someone 3 levels under me and enter and then unmentor. the mobs will be lower level to you now.

bongo
