<DIV>So far I am really enjoying my new Ranger. I will most likely hit 20 tonight (I finished the Ranger quest lastnight but with it being 2am and all I didn't push on to 20) and I have a few questions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. I keep seeing people mention 2cp arrows. The cheapest arrows I could find on any vendor were 5cp arrows. Are the 2cp ones reduced in price for faction or something or is there a vendor I am missing that sells them cheaper?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. What weapons should I be aiming for at level 20? Obviously I just got a new bow from doing the Ranger quest but what about melee weapons? Apparently on my server there either aren't many weapon smiths or they are not selling their wares very often on the Brokers. I keep looking for weapon upgrades and all I keep seeing are crazy priced mediocre weapons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>3. Is there a Ranger guide somewhere? I have seen guides for other classes with information like what quests to do for weapon / armor upgrades at what level or where a good place to hunt is at X level.  I know about the AQ quests so I plan on doing those if I can find the people to do them with (Antonica on Grobb seems so dead compared to the last time I played EQ2)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>4. How the heck are you affording to upgrade skills / armor / weapons? At level 19 I have roughly 3gp right now, and I keep looking at Brokers and seeing skills like Backshot (Adept 1) going for ourtageous prices like 15gp. In fact almost no skill upgrades that are Adept I are selling for less than 1gp. Weapons are insanely expensive also, I keep seeing mediocre weapons selling for 2.5gp each. Is my servers economy just out of wack or are people just on crack when setting peices? How does a non twink compete in a market like this?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>5. Is there really not a quiver in game for Rangers? That seems like a pretty stupid thing to me. <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I already have run out of arrows in the middle of a fight because my ammo slot was empty, even though I had 300 more arrows in my bag. Why does every other range weapon get a pouch to hold their ammo and yet a ranged dependant class doesn't even get a quiver to hold our arrows?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>6. Is there a cross server Ranger channel?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>7. I have read the Ranger FAQ but is there a site like the old EQ1 Rangers Glade with more info on the class?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any help in answering these questions would be appreciated! <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Menion</DIV> <DIV>Grobb Server</DIV>

"7. I have read the Ranger FAQ but is there a site like the old EQ1 Rangers Glade with more info on the class?" Yes, there is and an excellent one IMO:  http://www.thescoutssanctuary.com/ Good luck <div></div>

<div></div><div></div><div></div>1) 2 cp arrows are sold on the vendor close to the lighthouse at Coldwind Point (up from the dock) and are for the tin arrows....6cp for the iron arrows.  May be sold elsewhere but I haven't looked. 2) Unfortunately, the better class of imbued weapons are a bit pricey, at least they were for my ranger at 20, but one thing you can do is change weapon styles...i.e. try piercing instead of slash and see what is offered for sale.  Never hurts to be proficient in everything available. 3)  Same as listed before: www:thescoutssanctuary.com  Excellent information site for all scout classes. 4)  Two things: one, sell items to a vendor in a tradeskill instance that you belong to (you don't need to tradeskill, but you need to join one...you get much better vendor prices) and two: get all your harvesting skills maxed and harvest everything...sell stacks on broker to other players.  A lot of tradeskillers will gladly pay for a stack of items they don't have to go harvest if the price isn't outrageous. 5) Right now, no.  Unfortunately there isn't a quiver for rangers...how and why that one got overlooked/ignored?  No clue. Are we going to get one? Again, no clue.  Suggestion:  keep a sharp eye on your supply. 6) I am not aware of one if there is.  Would be nice though. 7) See #3 above. Hope this helps some. Good luck and good hunting! <div></div><p> <span class="time_text"></span></p><p> <span class="time_text"></span></p><p>Message Edited by Morgonn on <span class=date_text>10-04-2005</span> <span class=time_text>05:18 PM</span>

It has been rumoured that there will be a quiver in the future... no idea when, or how many slots. <div></div>

Re. pt.5: There's an old discussion about quivers - (you can see my position there) that has an excellent tip that will prove invaluable. <a href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=39&message.id=10646#M10646" target=_blank>That discussion is here (link) </a> The tip is: <blockquote> Gareorn wrote: </blockquote> <blockquote> <div>keep all your arrows in one bag and keep that bag open.  move it to the corner or the side of your screen so it's out of the way and when you run out of arrows, double on a stack of arrows in the bag.  It automatically loads that stack.  takes about 1/2 a second.  Also, you don't have to wait until you run out of ammo.  Just double click periodically and it re-loads your ammo up to 99 each time.  No muss, no fuss.</div> </blockquote> I then make the window transparent until 'mouse-over'. pt.6 Jay42 (Kaeros) just created a cross server channel:  type: /join Butcherblock.WorldRanger <div></div>

Thanks for all the answers! I haven't had a chance to play the last couple nights but I plan to rectify that this weekend. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<P>Hi,</P> <P>RE No.2</P> <P>I used one slashing and one piercing through nearly my whole Ranger career. This keeps both weapon skills nicely maxed. Unfrotunately, I can't remember exact quests, but i think there was at least one in Willow Wood for a Ranger weapon. It might be worth checking out ogaming for weapon quests if you don't mind spoilers.</P> <P>If you eventualy join a guild, you might find they have a weaponsmith that can help you with weapons. Finding rare's in the lower tiers (like Thundering Steppes where I guess you are headed about now) is easier than ever before and a few hours dedicated to harvesting could get you the raw components for some imbued weapons. You could also use the /lfw command to find weaponsmiths looking for business. I have found a few that work for cost of materials only - it's a nice gesture to tip these fantastic people if you can afford it however.</P> <P>Finding a good guild could also help with finding people to group with for AQ's, exploration and general fun. The populations in the lower levels are much lower then previously. The good thing is SoE have made many more solo mobs available and some quests you could previously only complete in a group can now be soloed.</P> <P>RE No.5:</P> <P>Unfortunately, because the game is now quite 'mature' a lot of lower level toons are alts of players that hit the level 50 cap. Many of these players have quite a lot of disposable income from playing in the T5 areas. The prices for low level adept 1 spells tend to be high because:</P> <P>1)Large numbers of players can afford those prices for their alts/twinks and are willing to pay them.</P> <P>2)There are less players in the low tier zones to find these adepts = lower supply than when the game was just a few months old. You are probably paying up to 10x more than my ranger did back in december.</P> <P>Income does start to improve a lot by your 30's. The suggestions about harvesting components is a good one. Right now I'm making an alt tank. I'm looking for low tier rare's to deck him out in some nice armour. The rare's at these levels are still commanding up to 20-25 g each so finding a few when harvesting other stuff to sell could bump your finances a little.</P> <P>Tradeskilling is another money making option - but it's not for all - I would rather watch paint dry than craft !</P> <P>Good luck with your ranger <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P> </P>

<DIV>You get makeshift arrows at level 21, Upgrade it to app 4 or adept 1.   You won't have to buy any arrows then.</DIV>

<DIV>Regarding question 5.   Open your inventory and drag the contents of the Ammo slot to a spare hot button.    You should easily be able to see you ammo supply and replenish before combat.    Ohh use poisons,   use poisons,   use poisons,   use poisons,   I prefer highest upfront damage you can find.  One last tip use poisons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
