<P>My advice would be long bow. You get the benefit of the additional range and most ranged damage is done through the combat arts so the long bow's relatively slow rate of firing off arrows isn't an issue. </P> <P>That said, a view from someone who has played thoroughly on Test and who is familiar with the upcoming combat changes would be helpful. My limited experience there suggests I will stick with the longbow.</P> <p>Message Edited by Keredh on <span class=date_text>09-05-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:45 AM</span>

<DIV>The Short bows a realatively shorter range les damage higher stats, while the Long bows are higher dmg longer range and just a little less on the stats.  But yea like Keredh said, go long bow.</DIV>

<div></div>With the removal of most CAs' ability to be fired on the move, the only effective way to kite will be autofire. Those of you who still intend to kite may very well find short bows to be more suitable with its higher firing rate, cuz I do believe short bows' dps is higher in a sustained shootout, CAs aside. <div></div><p>Message Edited by Trei49 on <span class=date_text>09-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>06:42 AM</span>

Longbow for the reasons mentioned above

<P>I have been considering this question for quite a while now, my answer: I am carrying one of each and will thoroughly test them under a variety of conditions after the new system comes into effect. I am tempated to agree with the long bow assessment of most, but there is a chance that the new combat system will make the short bow valuable in the higher level game.</P> <P>Zeeman Ranger of the 50th season, Permafrost</P>

I'm a Woodworker & Ranger on Guk. Though I've never actaully equipped a short bow for the reasons given above, I can tell you that the bow-using community seems to share the same sentiment.  I can sell long bows within a day or two of making them, whereas any short bow I put up for sale sells for considerable less and generally takes 2-3 times longer for me to unload. I'll be very interested in seeing how the combat revamp affects this. <div></div>

<DIV>In reply to #5....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kiting is not gone. I will repeat what I said in another thread in this one. You will have to STUN/SNARE an opponent, then back up to get range, then fire ca, then repeat as necessary. Kiting is still there, just not in the super easy fashion you were used to. But it is there still, it has evolved. Add those stuns/stifles/snares to your ca macros and you will be OK! </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Furthermore, not all bow cas must be stationary (as has been pointed out in these forums) after the revamp. The majority are, but there are still some moving bow cas.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lastly, I use a long bow. Even with just autoattack you still got that huge damage proc with the imbue. You still have range to get more bow cas off before the mob is on you. So my advice would be go for the long bow. I swear by it. So far I've used nothing but longbows since discovering them. From fir, to oak, and soon to cedar imbued. They do more damage, keep you out of AoE (very important thing everyone forgot to mention), and most importantly do that high dps everyone craves.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by StealthM0de on <span class=date_text>09-06-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:12 PM</span>

["... Furthermore, not all bow cas must be stationary (as has been pointed out in these forums) after the revamp. If you are on test and long b still trumps short b,  then well... ok cool. But if not, my advice to everybody is to just simply try out the different weapons again since the combat revamp may have changed a lot more than what is apparent or listed by devs. It doesn't hurt you to. Yes long bows do more damage, but do they do more DPS? ah... Try it again. <div></div>
