It says that it increases the agro gain of the next attacker by 100%...

Does that mean that all the hate the attacker has accumulated, will be doubled, or that means that only the hate generated by next attack will be doubled.

Also - I read in this forum that it doesnt work atm, is that true?

Lani

Really the only time to use this ability is when someone has aggro and you don't want him to. (If a mage or healer has aggro use this ability to grab the aggro yourself and/or to a tank if the tank is trying to grab it.)

I say this because atm any dmg done to the mob once you use this ability will (should) draw the aggro. The reason ppl say it's broken is because Trick Arrow can be triggered by your own poisons, giving yourself all the aggro instead of the intended tank. Granted the poisons don't proc all the time but it does proc enough to make the ability useless to pull and/or give the tank more aggro.

Hope this helps.

P.S. The 100% hate doesn't make any since to me either.

Message Edited by Dabugkillir on 08-11-2005 10:08 AM

I'm pretty sure that it means that the agro for the the person who strikes the mob after the trick arrow will generate agro at double the rate for the duration of the spell.
Message Edited by Rahmn on 08-11-2005 11:12 AM
I don't think this has such a limited use, personally. I often use it for precision pulling, then back behind the tank, disengage melee, and Evade / Surveil while the MT intercepts the mob and draws the aggro that my CA contained. I also use it when duoing with a tank, to help them keep aggro by adding more hate gain on their part. This has proven very valuable when I'm 2-3 levels above the tank I'm grouped with (happens often).

I would have to agree with kaeros that this shot should be quite effective at getting agro to the MT once they intercept. However I do things slightly different . I let tank pull then very early shoot trick arrow to put more hate on the mt so I can start unloading earlier... while they are still taunting to build hate. The problem I have is 1/2 the time the mob will turn on me but one hit from the mt and it turns back. I believe this happens, per previous poster, when a poison procs but once it turns back im free to fire. So I do believe it works as intended. What would make this truly a good art would be if it actually hit without a poison proc as per the definition it is suppose to hit with little hate....poison procing on the other hand truly pisses them off.

hey dont forget when you have a slow tank and you use this skill... use it, back off, turn auto melee off. But if by some chance the mob does hit you (happens more often than not) at my level I almost always riposte the initial strike by a mob and the [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] CA gives me the aggro.

Ok I have read this and came up with an idea.....

Yet another useful ranger macro.

: ;useability trick shot ;autoattack off ;useability evade

One of you more knowledgable rangers please check my work, I am kinda new to macros.

Message Edited by StealthM0de on 08-17-2005 12:21 PM

I'm no expert on macro's but I would use surveil instead of evade. It puts you into stealth and you can give the tank a little more time to get agro while you get in position to use your backstab.

Personally I use both Evade and Surveil. Evade first, obviously. I drop teh aggro, the tank takes it, and I'm already invisible and ready for a stealth attack. It's nice.

Only problem with that is that Evade has a range restriction, and when pulling a mob usually you want to be just inside bow range, but out of Evade range. Surveil has a greater range, but normally I don't want to be in stealth at the beginning of combat, since I normally do a Pouncing Attack -> Crippling Blade -> Surveil -> Raven Embers combo after the tank has more agro. Opening up with any of my stealth attacks is likely to draw agro and tick off most of the group.

Hm, well I'm definitely fortunate in my choice of tanks, and they all get those taunts off ASAP. Once they have one down, I find that I can usually hit Raven Embers without drawing aggro. I don't throw down the Pouncing (Longshank) -> Crippling Blade until later on, though. But you're right, generally I don't start in stealth when we're doing standard tank pulls - I tend to lead with my debuffing melee attacks and work upward from there.
