We do great dps from range. That is our special spot hehe. All those other common things you mentioned have to do those common things they do in range of the mobs nasty AOE's that can kill all those other common classes in a one or 2 hits while us rangers sit back and uncommonly don't die while we do all those common things we do. Seriously though, you should want to be a ranger or whatever class you are going to be. Quit looking for that in the all to often very under used brains of people who decide that one class is better for this than others because the others do it slightly different class, and go find a class you like and want to play because even if their role in a raid isn't the best or is common, you are still gonna have a better chance at getting in good with a raid being a great fun common class than some stuffed up joke of a end all be all class that has a one horse show ticket into raiding.

Maybe you misread my post. Try helping my under used brain understand the AGI & STR POST REVAMP issue i'm having instead of flaming my obvious delusions in regards to raiding.

Thank you

Sorry, I didn't really mean to flame just gets annoying seeing so many post over time about whether or not Rangers are this kind of uber or that kind of uber. Gets old catering to those who really just want to find the best, easiest, or least challenging class they can hehe. As for your question on strength vs. agility it is good to keep your focus on both. You will always want to keep a good amount of love for you agility since it affects your hit chance, avoidance, and mana. With the new melee changes you will definitely want to keep it high for when you solo so you can take a little less damage when your agility is greater than a mobs strength. You will want to keep your strength high because it not only helps us hit harder and do better dps in the same old way but it also keeps mobs with agility that isn't higher than our strength from resisting some of the damage we would have otherwise done. Most scouts seem to focus on their agility til they get it to about 200 and then lean towards strength. Ideally you want your agi and str both over 200, but once it is over 200 it will have less beneficial affect. Once you hit 200 you have hit the soft cap for your abilities affectiveness and while it is good to get more of that stat past 200 it will be more beneficial for you to get your str up to 200 before you worry about taking your agility from 200 to 300. With the right group/raid buffs your ability scores are going to sky rocket anyways. Once again I didn't really mean to flame so much as it was more a jaded sarcastic response though I guess that's a flame hehe. Anyways hope that helps.

Now that's what i'm missing. STR I'll start concentrating on that right away. I've always been wondering why i've been hitting so soft. I just got a Fabled Legging drop in Splitpaw that gives +22 STR. Should help a bit.

Thank you for the help.

I'll just keep striving for 200 200 str and agi, then I'll call it a day.

To answer a small part of the question, rangers do have some pretty nice niche abilities. One of the posters mentioned our lower likelihood of being hit with AOE's, but the main advantage in this is not so much avoidance of damage AOE's (no one wants to take damage, but that's not the strong point here), but rather stun, stifle, and mez AOE's. While everyone else in a raid sits motionless for 30 seconds after being blasted by one of these fun spells, rangers can still put out nearly 100% damage.

Hask, 50 Ranger 50 Weaponsmith

Advent of Valor, Neriak Server

If i were you i would go for strength over agility any day. It like you said str = your top dmg output which in turn is a good thing =). But dont just leave out Agility you are right on that you dont need it unless you tank but agility does not just increase your avoidance but it also increases your accuracy. Which in turn will allow the top dps with a ranged weapon.
Message Edited by Konthek on 08-12-2005 10:49 PM
