(paste & copy)

The big prob in solo arena is, that most rangers are solo-fighting with the two handed weapons ... it's much easier, if you're using the bow and run away from the mob. just run around in the arena ... most of the mobs aren't fast enough to catch you ... i made my way true the solo-arena this way without earning any health down untill i came to the Champ. He uses some kind of magic to hit you from the distance, so running away doesn't worked here ... no plan how to do this [Removed for Content].

The next time i'll take a few potions with me ... heal and resist stuff may work fine

and don't forget arrows ... you'll need about 70-100 for one mob to kill, so take many with you.

greetings,

Zed

I haven't legitmately beat him myself, but some ideas:

- Up your poison / disease resist as that seems to be a large amt of his dmg

- Imbued BP would be lovely, he hits HARD

- Interrupts / stuns / stifles are your friend; stop his spellcasting

- Legendary poison and poison resist debuff c/b good

- Kite as you can if it works; he's smart and seems to stop chasing me and just starts throwing spells

Any other thoughts?

I beat him my first and only try, at level 48, and the fight ended with me very close to death. I used a rare HoT potion (Fireblight's Renewal), kited my [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] off, and kept my shield equipped with the PGT, buffing with Adroit whenever possible. I also have gloves that offer +5 spellavoidance (Gloves of Deft Reflexes), which seemed to help. Don't forget to invis as soon as you accept each challenge, so you can start the fight how YOU want to.

I'm not sure how the difficulty scales with level but at 50 I beat him on very difficult. I used: imbued cedar bow with indium arrows, PGT and bone razor for weapons. High DOT and -poison mitigation common poisons. +STR/STA, +physical mitigation and healing common potions. AGI rare hex doll, STA and STR imbued rings, imbued chest and legs and everything else fairly common (no fabled gear). I have a few adept 3's. For the fight you have to kite. I didn't stand toe to toe with him for even 1 second. Use every buff you have that lasts at least a few minutes before you start. Invis and get as far as you can behind him. Launch opening bow attacks and use ranged auto. Other than bow CA's also use Survival of the Fittest, Leaping Cut, defense buff (I use adroit even at 50 cause I think DoL is bugged), ranged snare (Entrap), ranged debuf (Snipe) and the hex doll. I used my healing potion once near the beginning of the fight when I had a clear 1 sec to stand still. After that just stay away from him - the 200-500 melee attacks were what did me in the first 2 times I tried. That's about the best advice I can give, hopefully you find it helpful... Xyzzy/Mistmoore

I have seen this in action. It's a beautiful thing. We Fury's fight TOTALLY differently. But I was able to team up with Xyzzy and Anfis (2 of my L50 ranger friends) and watched as they kited the heroic group version of the arena Champion. I just sat back and healed a little, then nuked my heart out. If only Fury's could snare/kite like in EQ1. You rangers have it good. :smileywink:

i beat him yesterday for the first time after a couple of very devestating loses. i guess i have figured out some basics... my selfbuffed agi ist at 240, str at 120, i'm level 44.5. you have to have at as many bowshots that you can cast while running, ie. legshot, focus fire, etc. use the highest debuff and Damage poison you can get, uppen your poison and desease mitigation.

most important of all... haste yourself! with heritage haste belt (Yoru) and if you have the haste spell from bloodlines. So can be selfhastet up do 43% which really helps!

your bow will shoot every 5.5 Second instead of 7 Second. Your Weapnons go by far faster if it comes to infight.

always watch out that he is defensive debuffed! you have a lot of agi and piercing debuffs.

kite him!

good luck :smileywink:

Not much more for me to add, but... I beat him first time out of the box at level 47 or 48. The tactics above are pretty much all I used. Definitely equip the PGT, that's a big help. Making sure your bow CAs are upgraded as best you can is pretty important as well. Make sure you buff up, put up a good poison, hit your ranged autoattack, and kick it into reverse.

He nukes and DoTs pretty hard, but if you can keep out of melee range he should run out of power before you run out of health. Sadly, that's where there's a good deal of luck involved. I don't know how my resists compare to others--most of my gear is just crafted fulginate. Perhaps I was just fortunate...

I've commented on this subject a few times now. It seems we rangers don't have it as easy as some of our mage and priest friends. To beat this you gotta shell out some gold and sometimes you need a bit of luck.

I used the slashing debuff poison, stiffle poison and hi initial dmg poisons (all legendary). Then I use agility, str/stam, poison/disease, cold/heat (the heat part isn't needed) and physical mit potions. He casts disease and cold spells. One of the cold based spells he casts is a dd/slow, which for my tactic needs to be mitigated as much as possible.

I use the slashing poison to get the most of of my auto attack (yep that's right, I go toe to toe for the first half of the fight, which is usually a ranger no-no!). I have a bit of an advantage as I do have some fabled gear and a prismatic so this may not work for everyone. In my other hand I have an imbued ebon slasher.

I lead off with culling the heard followed by a triple shot. I then rush him with auto attack as I cast the bloodlines haste and feral instinct. I'll do HOs while I am auto attacking til I get swindlers luck, flipping with snipe to debuff. I do not spam any CAs however because I'm conserving power at this point. Once I get SL I still stand firm and only auto attack.

Once feral instinct runs out I assess the dmg I've taken. If I am below 80% at that point I'll begin kiting. It doesn't hurt at this time to use a heal potion before going into kite mode if you're quick about it. I back off while using ensnare since more damage is done from the back than from the front, and parry checks don't activate. Once I get my distance I turn and start casting the snare from the Agility Hex Doll. Once that lands I switch out the ebon weapon for the PGT. I'll keep using bow CAs and keeping him snared with leg shot and ensnare, turning around every few seconds to get a bow auto-attack-shot on him (I rarely kite running backwards as I tend to run into things, which I can't afford while fighting this dude).

He'll continue to do damage to me with spells but he'll die just before you do if you're lucky. Usual finish is maybe 20% health for me.

They changed this guy today, claiming he has "undergone some training". I'm curious as to what that means...
