View Full Version : What are these 'poisons'?
<DIV>I am having trouble deciding on a class, and cannot decide between wizard, conjurer, and ranger. I will RP evil for all characters except the ranger. I have a few ranger questions. Yes, I have done a search and ahven't found much of anything.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) What are these poisons I hear about? Are they expensive and can I make them, as I will take up that tradeskill in a heartbeat!</DIV> <DIV>2) Do arrows cost a whole lot and do they take up tons of inventory space?</DIV> <DIV>3) We do get sneaks and the like, right? That is one of the reasons I may be a scout. It is easier to get shards. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks!</DIV>

<P>Poisons:</P> <P>You can make them yourself IF you are an alchemist, you can also purchase them from a NPC merchant.</P> <P>Player made poisons at T5 are only 1gp per vial, which is 7 charges. Legendary ones are a bit more expensive.</P> <P>Arrows do not cost a thing for a typical Ranger, you can make Slashing arrows (make-shift carbonite) with a spell, and you can get pierce ones from Rip, Tear, etc. (another spell) There are player made arrows which ONLY affect the dmg your shot does with ranged attack not the ranged combat abilities. Those can be pretty expensive, but if you are not a heavy raider there is no point in buying player made ones. Arrows can take up some room, i have 1 bag only for CA made arrows and one bag for Player made arrows, but i Raid 5+ instances a night.</P> <P>Rangers do get sneak, it is slowerer than an invis. You can chose a Training ability to get a quicker sneak, but your movement speed will still be effected. This ability does make moving throughout a zone easier. </P> <P>I would recommend playing a Ranger Class. Of the 3 you listed the Ranger is the greatest DMG dealer and imo the most fun. </P> <P>Enjoy</P>

<DIV>No offence but a Sorcerer is higher in damage dealing...Seeing as how I have a Ranger, Conjuror, and Warlock...my dps is like this:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Warlock>Ranger>Conjuror</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It depends on your playing style. Rangers arnt the best when it comes to soloing, but if you can afford good arrows, and lots of them...you can kite just about anything. Conjurors are very steady solo'rs, and ok group DPS. Warlock are great solo'rs IF you know how to. Which can be hard to learn. Warlocks are by far the best group dps of the three. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm not saying Rangers suck, I love my ranger, but it really depends on how you play.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this helps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I disagree with the 'if you can afford good arrows' in the post above. I am level 40 and haven't spent a dime on arrows since level 21 (makeshift arrows, adept 1, 30 arrows every 15 minutes). I haven't been on any high end raids yet so have not bothered to buy any of the crush/slash arrows, and have not used one of my feiryon (rip) arrows (saving these for Raids). I agree with your DPS. Rangers are supposed to do less than Warlocks, and Wizards. That's it. No one else. Sony has said they will be adjusting it to make sure that this is the case - although I don't think this will take much work (Yes, we will be tied in DPS with Assassins). Back to the OP's questions: 1) Poisons can be made by an alchemist, if you have one or care to make one and keep him up to your skill level. I always buy mine from the broker, and they are well worth the money, and not too expensive (if your in a guild they can be even cheaper - harvest the drops yourself, offer a stack of raws for 2 - 3 poisons) 2) arrows can take up a lot of space. I try to have a whole backpack full of summoned (free at lvl 21) arrows. I also have a backpack full of Feyrion Arrows (from a higher level spell rip - you 'rip' one arrow out of the opponent/cast). I rarely run out of room unless I am also harvesting while I'm fighting - buy some good backpacks and you should have no trouble. 3) Sneak is GREAT. It works on almost everything I have come across, lasts for 12 hours (never used it that long), and let's you explore things that no other class can at your level. It DOES slow you down, but if you take the 'special' sneak - offered at 20 and 40 (?) your movement is not bad at all <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <div></div>
<P>"Be a ranger. We are without equal."</P> <P><cackles gleefully and scampers off into the woods></P>
