I have lvl 50 Rangers telling me that it doesn't matter what kind of arrows you use. Is this true?.. I've went through 40+ levels now using mostly my carbonite and feyiron (from Rip) and was wondering if fulginate will make a difference. The arrows themselves don't show any sort of dmg rating or anything, whats the story?

And, what do scouts get from completing bloodlines quest? some kind of skill right?

As a woodworker the only difference i've seen in arrows is their type which effects the kind of damage they do, i.e:

Bodkin - Slashing Damage

Rounded - Crushing Damage

Hunting - Piercing Damage

Might have Bodkin and Hunting the wrong way round, but you get the idea.

Yeah, as stated before the teir of arrow, iron, carbonite, fulginate, etc. only affects the damage done with the ranged autoattack. Combat arts still do the same damage no matter what arrow used. Also the different damage types of arrows, piercing, slashing and crushing, are extremely important at the higher levels. You'll start running into more epic mobs that are immune to all piercing damage so you'll always want to have a bunch of the other two types on hand in situations like these so you can actually do damage with your bow CAs.

question, since scouts cannot use crushing weapons, will the crushing arrows (the round arrows) work at the same level as the other kinds?

ie: say you hit usually for 400 with a bow CA on a mob using piercing arrows. all of a sudden you are vs. a pierce immune mob so you whip out your round cut arrows and will your CA's still do the same approx dmg with the blunt arrows?

I think the crushing arrows would rely on your bow skill, not "crushing" skill, so they should work the same as any other arrow you fire.

Frizznik just made some new recipies for ebon arrows and is going to talk to coders about making benefits of arrows evident when you inspect them. Hopefully this will lead to an investigation into the uselessness of arrows.

My ranger is only 32 atm but I have noticed a large difference between the tin and feyiron arrows. I have mostly solo'd with bow up to 32 and when using tin arrows my auto attack damage normally lands like 30-40, when using the high quality arrows they hit for 100-200 very often. Unfortunately they are like 1gp a stack for the higher quality so I normally just buy something in between. If you do a lot of kiting and soloing and don't mind paying the extra money you will notice better damage from the better arrows. If you group a lot then you are likely only using arrows for ca's in which case the tin arrows are fine.

One of them questions I've always had and never think to post. Thanks for the info. I'm still a relatively young Ranger (lvl 25).

Why would you buy tin arrows when makeshift carbonite are free? At adept 1 it summons 30 at a time and I usually keep a full backpack. If this isn't enough, splurge on the adept 3 (45?) or if you can find the Master... it will pay off in the long run...

I just looted adept 1 during a quest today, it is awesome. I now keep 2 backpacks full :smileyhappy: (I always seemed to run out with just one):smileywink:
