<DIV>Howdy,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would really appricate it if someone would post a quick and dirty guide to the stormfire quest so that I can have some clue of what I am doing and what lvl I can begin etc.  I will put together a comprehensive guide once I have completed the quest and hopefully we can get it stickied since it seems to be a very popular item. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Bates</DIV> <DIV>Ogguk</DIV>

Here is the real deal. Stormfire is an insanely long quest.  The bow is useable at lvl 28 but after lvl 25 all mobs in the quest are grey.  So no xp during this quest if thats all your doing. The only exception is Lord Gydak.  At lvl 28 I took him no problem with the help off a lvl zerker.  I have found a post on another web site that says if if you kill the PL's for the nameds and then spin the globe behind the chessboard the next spawn will be the named.  I found this as I was hunting the last defiled lord.  I tried it. Don't know if it was luck or if this really works but the next spawn was the defiled lord I needed.   Happy hunting Rathree Huntedbybears lvl 31 Ranger <div></div>

<P><FONT size=2>Stormfire is still tradeable? I'd hoped it had been flagged No-Trade. I guess not?</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=2>FWIW, I did this whole quest in one weekend. It was a long, grueling couple of days, but it doesn't have to take you forever. It can definitely help to start Valinayle's quest in your early 20s, but I overlooked them until I was 26 or 27, and then crunched through them in that single weekend. I didn't leave Stormhold for days - even camped for the night in Lord Dyana's room - but that just made the reward (and that first breath of fresh, clean air when I finally left) all the sweeter. <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></FONT></P>

I did pretty much the same thing. I teamed up with a paladin trying for the bow. I only had trouble with Gydak, so I just went in and checked on him everytime I was in the neighborhood. I finally got lucky, omw to mentor a guildy in SH, he was up <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> how SWEET it was, much more worthwhile than paying for it <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span><div></div>

Amen to that. I spent at least 4 hours on Dyana, Benfield and the other guy thats near benfield, each.  That quest suckes, but when its done you are king of the world. <div></div>

Hell yes! Few things get me to leap out of my chair, whooping and hollering and dancing around the room, but this was one of em. Terrified the hell out of my poor cat, though.

My guildmates thought I had rented an appartment in SH while I was working on this...  everytime I logged in or out it was always in Shardhold.  And I supplied many of them with spiders...  lots and lots of the collection spiders.  <span>:smileywink:</span> <div></div>

Heh, I sure can't take credit for it...  but back at release when we first started exploring it and doing AQ3 there, I bit the dust a ton if times. Ahh, the good old days before evac and good offline maps...  nothing like droping down the well when you're first exploring, then having to CoQ to get out. <div></div>

<P>I started doing the Valinayle quests in Stormhold a while back.  I finally got my Scorched Skellies last night, but now Valinayle won't give me credit for the quest.  I did a /bug on it last night, but it's still very frustrating when the quests don't work after you've done the work.  I'm after my own Stormfire bow.  They cost too much to buy from a Broker.</P> <P> </P> <P>I also like the comment about Shardhold!  That's great!  I've experienced some of that last night.  Darn Torrents!!!!!!  :smileyvery-happy:  HEHE!</P> <P>Mihouki</P> <P>21st level Ranger</P> <P>Antonia Bayle</P>

Heh, wait 'till your waiting for Androus (for Ghoulbane) of tree thing (for dwarven work boots) and someone decides to spawn a scion. <span></span> Don't hesitate, just evac.  <span>:smileywink: Which reminds me... now that I'm over 40, I should go back and teach those scions a lesson. </span><div></div>

My guildies too thought I was vacationing out there in good old SH. I told them I could give them guided tours if they were interested, I spent so many hours just running around the halls. :smileyhappy: As a ranger though I was bound and determined to quest this bow. If it had been anything else, forget it, but for Stormfire I decided to do it. I remember reading some good books while I was camping some of the lords, it was actually kind of relaxing. :smileysurprised:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway, advice in this thread is good, if you want the bow you will have to suffer for it, but once you get it, woo hoo!</DIV>

It seems the quest is either bugged and intentionally broken as the quest giver will no longer respond to quest completions <div></div>

<DIV>As far as I'm aware the quests are given out ina completely random order, so it's pot luck as to what you get given each time. The reward is well worth it though, I was using Stormfire right up until the last when it finally turned grey on me (though I was lucky enough at that point to get a Longbow of the Warmaster *drools*).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And as for the well in SH... My first time in the zone and came across it as I was sneaking around. Thought "I know, I bet there's something good down there" and jumped.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I landed on a scion.</DIV>

Just wanted to say that luck can sometimes happen when going after stormfire. I heard all the long camp stories and was fretting going after it. Almost bought it off the broker when I saw one going for about 20G. But I just wouldn't feel good as a Ranger had my first real prize bow been purchased, so off to stormhold.     Excluding all the squire/knight kills etc ill focus on the 4 lords.    1) lord Dyana(?) Walked in killed one PH and POP...one down 2) lord Benfield.  Walked in he was up....two down 3) lord Byron ... alot of people were killing knights around this time and going in and out of the rooms after them. When I walked in there was nothing in the room but the quest giver (name?). Anyways, stayed off to the side and less than 5 minutes up pops Byron.... three down. 4) At this point i was ready to go do something else as at lvl 26 I wasnt going to try gydak Solo and didnt want to hang around for a group.... When an OOC came up that gydak was up and does anyone need him. It was from a lvl35 Ranger who already had done it but wanted to help another ranger... In this case ME.     So for me the long part was just killing 12 of this 20 of that..... GL <div></div>

Also from what I understand from recent update notes, Valinayle's quests have been "updated." This may mean they are not broken anymore, but possibly they have improved some aspects of the quest progression so it's not so...mind-numbing. Anyway, hopefully someone will test this and let us know...

<FONT size=2>I started a sep. thread on this, and actually took my monk alt into SH this weekend and started Valinayle's quests. I'll report the findings in the "Valinayle's quests updated" thread. Thanks <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></FONT>

Since my early 20's I've been wanting to get this bow. But after hearing all the tales about how grueling this quest was, I figured I would never get a Stormfire due to limited playing time. But as a "role player" I wanted to do all the major quests. So I went to SH, got the quest and spent an hour on it before my Wood Elf Ranger got a "rash" and ran screaming out into the woods. Then I went to the sawhorse, made a gazillion maple strong boxes, sold them, went to the broker, plunked down my 20 gold on the counter and came out with a shiny new Stormfire! It was certainly worth all the splinters!
