<DIV>I often see on the fighter forums arguements of who is the best tank and for what reason.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I find these very humourous as everyone defends their own class and gives "proof" as to why their the best.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The truth of the matter is if you want to find out who the "best" tank is you shouldn't be asking them you should be asking us, the mages and the healers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So the question I pose to you all is if given a choice who do you want tanking for you?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Which tank class do you feel most comfortable with?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Which one holds aggro of you the best and allows you to unload all your dps?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'll start.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm a huge fan of zerkers over any of the other tank classes.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I feel they are the hardest to pull aggro off of and the quickest to regain it.</DIV> <DIV>Their buffs help me as a ranger do more damage and have more hit points.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Paladins, Guardians, Monks and Bruisers just can't hold aggro off me as reliably.  I mean they can, but they really limit my dps.  I have to watch how much damage I do more closely.  Being a damage class, I'm not a big fan of having to kill slower.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>With Zerkers I feel that need much less.  I can almost just, go on my way spamming CA's and not have to worry about aggro.  From parsing this seems to be true for me.  My dps is 15%-20% better with a Zerker then a pally, sk or guardian.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What do you all think?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Nial Bladestorm</DIV> <DIV>36 Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Order of the Silverflame</DIV> <DIV>Antonia Bayle</DIV>

<P><FONT size=2>I prefer to play with a strong tank who understands the tank's role in the party and stays alert and aware of the needs of the rest of the group. Those tanks can come in all shapes and sizes. I regularly group with a guardian who is insanely good at holding aggro, even when I go full-bore and intentionally try to steal it from him just for kicks. I also regularly duo with a cute monk <waves to Amalia> who is very good at taking and holding aggro while I pour on the damage. It's even more impressive in her case, b/c guardians are the most aggro-centric tanks, IMO, while monks are at the other end of the spectrum, focusing more on damage than aggro-management. </FONT></P> <P><FONT size=2>So for me it's about the player, not the class. I've grouped with horrible tanks in all classes, and fantastic tanks in all classes. It's kinda cool that we don't have that problem in the scout community - about being 'the best' at 'scouting.' I guess that's because the sub-types roles are more clearly defined, not sure...something I've been thinking about lately, tho.</FONT></P>

<P>I have to agree with Jay.  A good tank is a good tank in whatever form.  </P> <P>Now, when it comes to pick up groups and tanks that I don't know.  I tend to look for Zerkers or Guardians.  Since, they seems to have an easier time holding aggro off of me.   My best bud plays a Guardian, so I'm usualy grouped with him.  I'm lucky in the fact he knows how to hold aggro.  I'd say maybe once out of every 10 fights I'll pull aggro from him at the last 2-5% of the mob.   Most tanks I have grouped with usually lose aggro to me at around 60%.   Then I have to start backing off of my dps in order to help them keep aggro. </P>

<DIV>It really doesn't depend on the class it's how they play it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Guardians and Zerker prob have a easier Job at keeping argo but if the guy behind the computer can't play the class then you might as well get a warlock to tank.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I regurally group with a Monk who is hydraing a mystic and chanter and he still keeps argo till the end of the fight. But I have grouped with monks that I needed to wait till mob was at 90% to join in the fight and still get argo.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So basically it's not the class it's the player.</DIV>

For example.. I know rangers who complain about not being able to solo, and others who solo heroic encounters 2 levels above them.</P> <P>You will never realise this more then when your level 35 guardian says "Why am I not taunting? because its useless.. it doesnt do any damage" :smileyvery-happy:</P>
