As I approach level 30, I'm facing a tough choice. I have a Stormfire in the bank and also a Pristine Imbued Oak Longbow.

Both are very nice, the main difference seems to be the better Stormfire stats vs. the Oak bows proc.

Which do you prefer and why?!?

Look forward to everyone's responses.

Procs. Longbows have a high proc rate, due to their high delay. I doubt there's any weapon in the game that gets more benefit from an imbue.

Stats are nice in theory. But honestly, how much is that extra 10agi going to help you, compared to an extra 100 damage every third arrow?

There's not a bow in the game in terms of a quest reward/drop that can compete with imbued bow.Simply the case of SoE adding imbue's to all crafted weapons and making 99% of weapons/armor drops useless. The only items that can 'improve' a imbued bow are 'fabled' items. Can of sad really, I hit 30 and got the imbued oak, then did the bloodlet quest and found the bow wasn't worth the effort.Same at 40, just got a imbued cedar bow, no chance of a quest or non raid drop that will give anything near as good.

I currently use a Valian bow.....11 int, 10 agi, 12 str, 12 wis, 68 power, 68 health....procs ancient glyph of venom....12% chance on successful hit to inflict 173-288 dmg. I love it.

Linyen
50 Ranger Permafrost
Fires of Heaven

The invention of Imbued items, really crushed the demand for a large number of quest items. I am not sure this was fully thouht out. I know that the plan was for "crafted" goods to be the best, but the wide availability of these items and the large gap in power between them and the quest rewards is an issue currently. I just traded in Bloodlet for a Pristine Crafted Imbued Teak Longbow, mostly cause I could not afford a cedar yet.

Procs are nice and go of a lot with bows..

Valian bow is nice too has a nice proc thats nearly every shot.. Onlly bow i think is better is the Pristine Conditioned Yew Longbow, hard to get but pretty awesome stats... again tho shame there is no proc... and the bow needs Raid mob RARE (very rare) Yew Glaze AND Cedar wo make..

One of the biggest changes needs to be the segregation of procs to their relevant weapson. The idea that my PGT procs when firing and arrow, and the Gleaming Strike on my longbow procs in meelee, is one of the things driving the imbalance. I am almost assured of starting a solo encounter with the 500 point PGT ward active because that proc reads the chance to proc from the Longbow delay, and fires almost all the time.

Wait, bows proc work when meleeing? I guess it is time to get an imbued bow on my berserker.

I thought imbued weapon procs no longer worked cross-item, meaning your imbued bow's gleaming strike wouldn't proc off your spear or dagger. I can't point to my source on that, but I'm pretty sure I read it in the last week or two. PGT was still an exception, and I can confirm that through personal experience on a daily basis. But I don't *think* that the gleaming strike from my imbued feysteel short spear has ever proc'd while using my bow. No hard evidence, though.
yeah they do at moment it will be fixed soon, at moment i have a sweet lev 50 whip no stats on it but sweet 8 % proc that does damage to mobs and drais thier power and heals my power, rubish weapon sweet proc a godsend when soloing with bow

I would go with the one that does the most average damage. Forget stats! I don't know what the specs on those 2 weapons but proc rates are calculated as (Weapon Delay / 3 Second Delay) X Proc rate = Proc rate

As per the designers posting states.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=items&message.id=30217#M30217

So the Proc. of an imbued bow is 11.67% if you fire without haste or Combat arts. However if you use the afore mentioned (and I can't see why you wouldn't) your proc rate will increase.

So I would say go imbued and if you want to know the average damage of both weapons post the specs and I'll tell ya.
