<DIV>Welll since most of our brotherhood have been playing for a while i wanted to ask of our community if they be so kind as to post the spells which they have upgraded pass adept1.</DIV> <DIV>You can post The adept 3's and master 1's of any spell which you have upgraded or just even seen in the market. Sadly someone onp my server keeps buying all the darn masters :*(. So the only one i seen i cant take [Removed for Content] of it cause it was sold :*(. Also Does tripple fire and Culling the herd have an upgrade near lvl 48+? Would not want to spend 4 pp on something imma upgrade later <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />.</DIV>

I also have a bad habit of selling my rares, else I'd have more of the worthwhile skills at Adept 3 hehe</DIV>

How the hell do you have so many masters? I presume your camping a mob and killing them with a group? The Keeper maybe?I find it amazing that anyone could have so many Master spells even low level ones. Mind me asking how you can afford to buy all of those?

<DIV>Because if this is the same Rev on Befallen, he corned (ie bought most of them) the market early on masters, and sold them for high prices. Now I see why there are never any good Archery masters for sell =( /spank Rev</DIV>

I have been playing rangers on eqii since November 2004. I have one level 32 and one level 36 and I have never been able to acquire any skill over adept1 for either of them. I do alot of wholsaler tasks and thereby a lot of harvesting but I seldom find rares and never the ones for spell scrolls and the only time I find the scrolls for sale (I've never seen an adept 2 of anything) they're always way too spendy. I guess if you're not a tradeskiller or powerleveler doing lots of raids you're jsut SOOL on the high level skills. <div></div>
<DIV>well to be honest the prices people charge for adept 3's and master 1's there really isnt any point in upgrading low level skills save your cash for end game skills.. Why spend a few plat upgrading a skill your gunna replace in a few levels .. and to be honest way game is now its so easy to level it dont take much time b4 you hit end game.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Als othe reason a lot of you cant find masters is because your looking for masters for your lower levels like tier 3 and 4 masters, the problem here is most masters hit the market thanx to the botters harvesting cash and they harvest tier 5.. I htink on my server i have seen a coupel of lower tier masters and have bought 15 tier 5 masers... oh i saw quick strike master 1 other day on market too so i had to buy it as its stol lon quick bar (more for hos than damage).. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>my advice woudl be to save your cash for high end, god knows you will need enuf cash to get all the stuff you need crafted crafted.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im on runnyeye i guess im quite lucky we hada server split and all the other rangers high level went to other server so i have been only level 50 ranger on my server for months.. i think there are 4 now but im the only 1 that actually buys adept 3's and masters ... I think the most i paid for a master skill was ebon and 1 plat, most i got for 50g - 1.5 plat..</DIV>

Bad thing on toxxulia theres only 1 ranger master 1 for sale :*(
<P>Well save a ruby for Storm of Arrows Adept 3... so far the Master version hasnt been discovered in game yet.. </P> <P>i can take a screenshot of all my master skills and thier stats but i cant upload them so if someone will post them for me il email you the screenshots. Thats the best way to judge what to upgrade.. </P> <P>Bow skills i would say the ones you can use while on the move <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] useful for soloing and kiting.. the rest only really get used in a group or when u stacked so many snares on the mob he hardly moving.</P>

Great thread.I'm 41 and after saving for ages now have enough money to upgrade some spells to adeptIII, I dont want to upgrade a spell that is going to get replaced in a few lvls so i'm looking for options.Does triple fire get upgraded?Flame Arrow? Also what about the backstab, I cant remember the name but does that get a upgrade?Basically i'm looking for a top 5 skills to upgrade to AdeptIII.So far I am thinking:1. Culling the herd - I presume this is a upgrade to sniping shot.2. Triple Fire - Only if it doesnt get a replacement3. Flame Arrow - Only if it doesnt get a replacement4. Crippling Blade - Only if it doesnt get a replacement5. ??????

<P><FONT color=#ffffff>Hello all,</FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#ffffff>since I (lvl 40 ranger) have come into posession of a dehydrated opal i have been reading this thread with great interest. Crippling blade was the spell I was going to upgrade to adept III. But now I am not so sure anymore. My tactic in groups ( i hardly ever solo) is to position myself behind the mob and start with >deadly reminder<. Then I invis myself using >pouncing attack<. This way i do damage and get into stealth which I need for >crippling blade<. Then I use >lightning strike<, >Entrap<, >Lunging thrust < and the like till I can use >pouncing attack< again. When in stealth once more I strike with >Raven Embers<. Usuallay this combination works quite nicely. </FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#ffffff>But lately i have encountered the problem that >pouncing attack< doesn't put me in stealth mode as often as i would want it to which is always <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. As a matter of fact there are some mobs where this tactic doesn't work at all. </FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#ffffff>The next attack that puts me into stealth is at lvl 48 i believe. <DIV>Well said Hieronymus. Crippling Blade is not replaced till level 51+ whilst Pouncing attack is replaced at 47 by a spell called Longshark (might be a little off on name) Therefore Crippling Blade is Number 1 choice for tier 4 adept iii.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Another thing I noticed when you were discribing your Combat (not judging or anything just a tip) is that you were using Crippling Blade much earilier in the fight then I would suggest. Get some of your debuff spells off first and let others in your group do the same it could make the difference between a 300 hit and a 700 hit.(tried to account for level in damage)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>P.S. nothing to do with this thread but I was very happy when at level 46 my Culling of the Hurd Adept iii spell hit a Mob for 1014 damage:smileyvery-happy:. This was a normal fight I wasn't out in feerrott killing level 1 down arrow corpses for a nice high hit. :smileytongue:</DIV>

Master spells are found in them big metal chests that sometimes drop off epic mobs although you can get master chests off anything as well if you're lucky.

You guys make me SICK!! Complaining about Adept 3's and Masters! I've got ONE Adept 1 and that's Sneak. I WISH I could get that one up because I keep getting seen trying to sneak in higher zones. I've got some 'dusty' something er other stone I got on a quest and kept in case it might need later. Probably good idea. I'm only Level 22 so I've got squat as far as bow skills. I feel like the kid who graduated high school but hasn't found a job yet, kinda in limbo. Where do I find this Jeweler to make the skills upgrades I need? Not to mention the stones? I really would like to get my Makeshift arrows spell upgraded to save on arrows costs and Sneak to hide better. And what little CA's I have...wouldn't hurt to get them up some too. All I've got is App 2's on everything.

It slowly gets better. Around lvl 30-32ish, your bow skills miraculously come to life and you become a "RANGER"! Up to that point, you're still kinda compared alot to Swashy/Brigands/Assassins.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rest assured, as a lvl 50 Ranger, It's easy to distinguish me from every other scout in the raid. I'm the one in the back raining down an annihilating storm of damage while staying casually out of the AE effects of the mob. Now and then I sneak in there and lay down my couple of backstabs and debuffs and then normally back out again to bow range with the casters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To answer a couple of questions of yours...</DIV> <DIV> Type:</DIV> <DIV>/who all jeweler</DIV> <DIV>Now pick one that's like lvl 30+ in Jeweling(You'll want them to be ahead of you in skill so you can have them make you spells in the future) and then add them to your friends list or write the name down. I try to pick a crafter, use them and if everything smooth, I try and use them from then on. For example, when I need a Rune made, I simply take my rare(If you want Adept3 made) and the usual amount of agreed upon coin and mail it off to my usual Jeweler. Within 24 hours, I've got a new spell waiting in my inbox. Painless! I have a regular armorsmith, weaponsmith, etc that I use. I know I can trust them and how much it usually will run to get something done.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, something I wish I'd known at lvl 22... Go for STR instead of AGI. Yes, still get your AGI up as much as possible, but STR is where your damage is. You're a DPS class, you do damage. AGI will be your power pool, but until much much later when you start Raiding, you'll not really be all that concerned about your power if you play your char right.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You've picked a great class. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Yes, I'm biased, but it's also the truth. Well...now I'm a level 29 Ranger and it's getting better. Really like Lightning Strike. Also,I've not noticed the CA Unsheathed Claws mentioned on the skills list. This is one of those individualized skills you can choose every couple levels by the little plus sign at the bottom right of the screen. Is this a skill that stays forever and won't get upgraded? I'm considering upgrading it to Adept III whenever it is that lightning truly strikes and I finally harvest a [Removed for Content] rare. I've got 3 Masters-Giant hunter,Gnoll hunter and Undead. I've been able to upgrade most of my skills past App II at least with quite a few at Adept I level. I'm considering upping Unsheathed Claws, Lightning Strike and one bow skill-either Triple Shot or Hidden shot or something...not quite sure which yet. Any suggestions when I finally get that rare I've been hunting TOO long now for?? And I finally upped my Makeshift to App III which gets me 20 at a shot..not bad. Another question...when fighting epics,do you need blunt tip arrows or ebon arrows? I've noticed both on the broker and I bought 75 blunt tips. I have yet to fight a epic...am yearning to,but know so very little about it. I understand you need handcrafted or at least legendary weapons to hit em??? I'm using Stormfire bow, which is great and a duel wield sword with gleaming strike and another piercing high level weapon. I'm full of questions, huh. <img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Also, where is the level 4 tier places to go now that I'm getting close to 30?? I've seen a few places but have so far been unable to get in. One is by the higher level skels in TS over by Ruins of Varsoons guarded by glimmering goblins or something. Can't get in there. Another one is in Nektulous Forrest not far from the docks. Frustrating.... but it's getting to be more fun....

I may have missed this in the thread, but what skills are MUST have upgrades, and what lore/training skills should you choose at the different levels. I just dinged 20, and I want to know what I should keep an eye out for to upgrade/choose. Thanks.

I just dinged 20, and I want to know what I should keep an eye out for to upgrade/choose. Thanks. <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE> <P>Well, there's no single answer that works for everybody in all situations. Are you soloing or grouping more often? Do you value damage over stealth, or vice versa? What I consider the "must-have" upgrades are based only on my priorities for my character. There's no formula for the perfect ranger. </P> <P>That said, here's some stuff to keep in mind regarding CA upgrades:</P> <P>- You're a ranger; most of your damage will come from your bow arts. If you're looking to maximize your damage, consider upgrading your Back Shot and Open Shot lines, as well as the Flaming Shot line. For melee, consider the two stealth attack lines (both the big backstab and the secondary stealth attack which doesn't require a flank position) as well as the flank attack that stealths you. (Sorry, I can't remember the names of the first skills in these lines right now.)</P> <P>- Unless you're quite wealthy or very lucky with rare gemstones, you might wait on any Adept III upgrades until you're in the high 30s and start getting skills that won't be replaced in ~15 levels. </P> <P>- When upgrading special attacks, don't always focus on the attack that does the absolute most damage. The heaviest hitters also have the longest recast timers, so upgrading a secondary attack (that can be used much more frequently) may actually increase your overall DPS more than an upgrade to the attack with the highest potential damage.</P> <P>- For Specialized Training, pick the skill that best suits your needs given the way you play. I'm a bit of an anomaly in that I'm grouped more often than not, but I still have taken the fast sneak options (Hagar's Camouflage and Holly's Stalking Trap) at 30 and 40 respectively. I can't stand moving as slow as molasses when I'm stealthed. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>You shouldn't have too much problem keeping the majority of your CAs at the Adept1 level - just get in the habit of checking your broker every few days to look for good deals on Adept drops. The market should be coming down in price due to Splitpaw drops, too. Find a jeweler and cultivate a good relationship there - offer to harvest raws for them, for instance. My jeweler friend is now a guildmate, but when we first started working together, her crafting class was around 15 levels higher than her adventure class, so she had a really hard time doing her own harvesting. On the other hand, I had a pretty easy time getting the raws she needed, so it worked out really well. She makes me App4 upgrades for every skill I have, and I look for Adept1s (or consider Adept IIIs at this point in the game) for the skills that I want to maximize. </P> <P>Hope this helps, feel free to ask around if you have other questions. Good luck, and welcome to the class <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<P>Thanks for the response, FYI, I mostly solo at this point, and I sometimes duo with a friend when we are actually online at the same time. I have been using my few bow arts as much as possible, and have even experimented with kiting a little. I had seen some pages with a list of "must haves", and I hadn't seen one rangers, but your coments do make sense as to the diversity of playing style. In any RPG I have ever played, online or not, I've been a ranger, so I understand the basics of the class overall, I just need to learn how to play in EQ2. As a wood elf ranger, is there any choices that you need to make when picking from the list that is better than any of the other skills? Also, I don't know if this is the right place, but what are the skills you have to find and/or buy that you don't get on your own? I have seen a few of these bounced around on the foroms. Thanks for helping a player that still has a lot to learn.</P>

A lot of those traditions will say "augmentation that, when placed on character, confers blah blah ability." I don't like those, b/c I don't want the extra maintenance of some random ability that might end up being kinda lousy. I chose a kerra one once that increased my power regen out of combat, but it had crap for duration and a 10 minute recast timer. I ended up replacing that when I did my /respec, b/c I'd dropped it off my hotbars altogether.</P> <P>So personally, I prefer permanent enhancements, and I tend to go for the stuff with evident value - a bonus to one of my attributes, or extra damage, etc. I don't go for those traditions that enhance an ability I have (like Tracking or Safe Fall) b/c I don't think of those as making or breaking my game and b/c I can't readily assess the practical advantage that +5 to Tracking really confers. <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>As for the "fluff" skills: these are the optional arts that you can buy at 20, 40, and 50th level. I believe you can get them all from the trainers in Eldar Grove, sitting by the broken wall that divides the zone. The only other skills that I know of that you don't automatically receive are ones from the adventure packs, like the Honed Reflexes skill from the Bloodlines AP. You can usually find those on the broker if you don't earn them through the appropriate adventure pack quest.</P>
