<DIV>Hey fellow Rangers!!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm currently using a Pristine Imbued Fir Longbow, but I also have a Stormfire in the bank. Because I mostly use our CA abilities, its basically the Stormfire's stats vs. the Longbow's proc. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is it worth the stats to lose the Fir's proc? On a side note, if I stick with the fir bow I can upgrade to an Oak bow at level 30. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<font size="2">Hiya. You actually pose a very good question, one that I've been debating for some time now. I'm lvl 35, and I actually carry 3 bows in my inventory at all times...Stormfire, Sureshot, and Imbued Oak Longbow. I find myself having the oak bow equipped 99% of the time, and between that, PGT, and an imbued melee weapon...the procs are extremely benificial, and proc a lot more than what I thought they would. So for combat, I actually prefer the oak bow. I crafted an imbued fir longbow for a guildmate 24 Ranger, and she absolute loves it. But Stormfire still has it's uses. Do you tradeskill at all? If so, save Stormfire and equip it when you craft. The additional agility increases your power pool, and that really helps when spamming the TS skills. The stage you're at now is a heck of a lot of fun for Rangers. You have all these new options regarding ranged weapons, you're finally getting some really neat CA's, and sort of 'coming of age'. And yes...you can first use the pristine oak longbow at level 30. This is my opinion, and only my <i>opinion</i>. The proc from the oak bow has saved my butt more than once, and groups really appreciate it to in those really close fights. As far as choosing between the fir and Stormfire...you've got both...carry 'em both around with you and experiment. Before long, one of them will 'sing' to you and it'll be the one you'll wind up using most of the time. I envy you in a way...you're where the fun REALLY begins...and guess what? It gets even better!!! </font><div></div>

I was using the Stormfire from 28 till I got around the mid-30s. Somewhere around 34 or so, I managed to get lucky on a chest drop in Zek and got the Longbow of the Warmaster. That bow has an interesting proc on it as well, and I'm still using it at 40. I've since picked up the Bloodlet Bow as well, but I've never attuned it. Stormfire was one heck of a sweet bow though (and it ought to be for what you have to go through to get it).

The power cost of each buff is based on a percentage of your total power pool. So having more power does not give you more reactions before you run out. You get the same number of reactions regardless of your power pool. </P> <P>Regen (base and from drinks) is NOT a percentage, it is a fixed number...so the more power you have the longer it takes to regen between recipes.</P> <P>What this adds up to is this: it is better to craft completely naked and have no stat-gear at all. The lower the power you have, the faster you regen. </P> <P>This is why a lot of people keep their crafting alts at very low adventure levels. It's also the reason that the tradesman clothing from city merchants is usefull..it's an outfit to wear while crafting that doesn't hurt you by increasing your stats.<BR></P>

<DIV>Hmm. At first glance the percentual usage of power for TS is really bizarre. But at second glance...</DIV> <DIV>Someone who crafts, and crafts a lot, would probably have a higher TS level then adventure lvl. But power pool is only based on class attribute and adventure lvl. So if TS power cost would be a fix amount a guy who has leveled in crafting but no adventure would be utterly in disadvantage vs an other who has a high adventure lvl.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>---------------------------<BR>Ryilan<BR>Wood Elf Ranger 23<BR>Craftsman 19</DIV> <DIV>Riverwind Alliance<BR>Runnyeye<BR>---------------------------</DIV><p>Message Edited by jarlaxle888 on <span class=date_text>05-20-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:23 AM</span>

I had the perception that I was able to get more reactions in, but obviously it was indeed just my perception. Good information guys. You keep reinforcing my reasons to keep coming back to these boards. Thanks!</font><div></div>
