No other reason to post this other than to say WOOT!Incredibly close fight, he caught me a few times and by the end I was in red and had used over 130 feyiron arrows.Just finished reading the kiting guide and will try out some of the tips on there next time.

Good job and Grats!

It took me forever to kite down Chomper as a lvl 33 ranger as well. I almost bit it once as well when I backed up into that tree by the water.

Overall fun fight tho. Hey, did you happen to get a master chest drop from him?

Nial Bladestorm

Antonia Bayle

Lol, u did him at 33!Damm thats awesome, I only used triple shot, flame arrow and the debuff skill, cant remember it's name. I never thought to use HO's, will try that on another mob. First time kiter here, lol.I didnt get a master drop, I got a chest with three items in, none of which I can use but there ya go I used to many arrows though it was crazy, over 130 feyiron. Not sure it was worth it really, considering how long it took me to get those feyiron using rip.Did u have auto ranged attack on? Next time I may try it using HO's and just skills.

Hey make sure you at the minimum use Ho's and your two ranged frontal attacks Lunging thrust and leaping cut.

It will help shorten the fight quite a bit.

Also don't be scared to let him get close stun him with cheapshot and run past to use sniping shot again.

Every bit of damage helps.
On a sidenote yes, I use autoattack but I the worst arrows I have the bow damage is negligible its more about the proc chances you get using auto attack.

Nial Bladestorm

Antonia Bayle

Message Edited by Rian18 on 05-09-2005 09:21 AM

Grats!

Did you use a high DoT poison? That will help you use less arows.

I used DD posion rather than DoT posion. It was the only posion I had at the time, when i'm in a grp DD seems the best choice as fights never last that long.

That would explain the high arrow use. I used to do the same, until I the 40s. When fights started to last a bit longer. For kites, just keep a high DoT handy. It will cut the time and arrow use down considerbly.

Nice job. Gratz. I would try it if I could find chomper up but he seems to be kinda hard to find. I suppose I could just camp him but he has a long timer.

Kwent

He's a big [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] fish and hits hard.I think I know the epic you must have taken, the dude walking the path in Zek?Fairplay to you for taking him down at your lvl, i'm still very new to kiting and often get hit still.

Also, the "Epic X2" mob that you are probably talking about in Zek is way overconned. Chomper will be harder.

Kwent

The Epic x2 mobs are Vallon Savages, Centurions, Legionaires I believe. All of them are big overcon and easily soloable at 31 or so for a Ranger.

The only thing they really have is a alot of hp's. As long as you do not get stuck and stunned you'll be fine.

If you want to get a feel for Chomper go Solo Muugu in EL he's a 36^^ melee mob in the 2nd floor of the cabin not far from chomper's lake. Careful tho he comes with a group of goblins including a seer who you need to burn down fast or he'll root you and then its all over.

As a point of reference, Chomper hit me once when I lagged a bit for around 860.

He's melee so given enough time and enough arrows you can solo him if you pay attention.

Just a request / suggestion - I know it runs counter to the generally "me first" nature of EQ2, but just because you CAN solo something doesn't mean you necessarily should. I try and be considerate and inclusive toward other players. Chomper is a contested mob that spawns every 4 hours or so, and ppl in EL are always looking for him. If you see him up, consider doing your fellow players a favor and forming a group of people that need him for the Heritage quest, rather than taking him out yourself and forcing others to wait or come back another time. Personally, I feel that helping people is its own reward. Karma plays as much a part in this game as it does in life, after all.
