<DIV>I am approaching lvl 40 Ranger and wanted to know people's thoughts on what upgrade is the best to make for my armor? I got some nice jewelry picked out already (just as a lady should...lol), but not sure what move I should make on my gear. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know some Rangers have gone to light armor due to better agility stats, others still say medium is best way to go due to the DPS we can do that can draw the agro....sooooo I thought who better to ask than my fellow Rangers :smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I should add that I am kinda girly and prefer a nice look along with good stats. So the chainmail leggins generally at any level I think look hideous....lol. Whats up with that awful skirt thing on them? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So with all that in mind....any thoughts? Oh and if it must be ugly I may be able to live, but I prefer to be gorgeous and deadly.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks all!</DIV>

well if Mitigation is not the end all be all of your desires, and looking good (at least different, I Love how this stuff looks but can't take the mitigation hits this stuff does to me) you can go wtih Enchanted Thicket armor. <img src="http://home.adelphia.net/%7Ecyrl/ajenia.jpg"> I have a set of it around for when I want to look different and I absolutely won't be tanking. <div></div>

I know for sure it does with steel and feysteel, but not sure about ebon.  It's expensive, but in my opinion looks absolutely incredible.  It's very shiny and when all matched up, looks quite impressive.  To say nothing of the stats.  Short of loots from master chests, there is not much that can top it. I'm still undecided in the medium / light armor debate.  Having a set of crafted feysteel, I'm not about to give that up until I reach 40, so I'll definitely be wearing medium armor until then.  After that, I'll have to see significant differences in avoidance with the new combat changes before I switch to a lighter armor type.  My time is spent equally between soloing and grouping/raiding with my guild.  We already get hurt badly enough when we get hit, and if you're soloing....you're gonna get hit.  So unless the light stuff helps me dodge a LOT more enemy attacks, I'm going to stick with medium.  Additionally, and I may be in the minority, I really dislike the look of leather/cloth armor.  The fact that I like the look of the chainmail so much is just a bonus. Anyway, I was primarily just replying to let you know that not all chainmail has the stupid skirt.  <span>:womanhappy:</span> </font></span><div></div>

<P>I have a full set of Enchanted Thicket Woven Light Armor, which looks great (although better on girls :smileywink<img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>I also have a full set of Pristine Fulginate Chain Medium armor. I tend to wear the chain BP and Legs, because they are imbued, but the rest light armor for the stats.</P> <P>As a lvl41 Ranger, here are my stats with the armor (these are unbuffed stats):</P> <P>                                   Light                           Medium                       Mixed                </P> <DIV>Health                        2469                            2459                           2345</DIV> <DIV>Power                        1744                             1600                           1676</DIV> <DIV>Mitigation                    31.2%                          35.4%                         33.5%</DIV> <DIV>Avoidance                  59.4%                          58.7%                         59.1%</DIV> <DIV>STR                           120                               85                                110</DIV> <DIV>AGI                             148                                138                             147</DIV> <DIV>STA                            73                                 68                                57</DIV> <DIV>INT                              34                                 58                               50  </DIV> <DIV>WIS                            49                                 55                                49</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, i haven't taken off my jewellery or weapons, for bare stats, but hopefully it will give u an indication. I may well fiddle again, to make sure im happy, but with the mix, i get good AGI and Strength, and OK mitigation. It may look a bit odd, but I can put up with that for 25pts of strength.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>to be honest, if it wasn't for the imbued, I would probably stick with my Light armor (which was free). The whole set of Fulginate included imbuing was 40gp, which on Nektulos was a bargain.</DIV>

What instantly hits me about those stats are the strength bonus for the light.Looking at that, I will get a fulginate imbued, to go with the journey is half the fun boots and the rest can be light gear.

<P>jewelry is important , remenber to try to get the rings, one for str and one for agi same with linnen hex dolls that will average ur stats, then you can go for the look, atm i use rare t5 pelt armor for bp and leggings and fulgi for rest, i must say i am a hot looking ranger.....</P> <P>*shake what you mama gave ya...*</P> <P>Landacet: Kyriel is a zerker i was talking about Landacet...ignore the close up on my face i look odd ^_~</P>

I mix and match depending on stats also.  If I'm soloing I usully go with my imbued chain, since the mitiagtion is better.  We need all the help we can get when tanking.  In groups, I usually switch out to my better +power and +str gear.

<DIV>I wore Fulginate up to 50, and when I got the cash switched to Ebon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Tailored Augmented light stuff is very decent too, and definitely a cheaper viable alternative.  Its also better than the common Fulginate.</DIV>

<P>I used med armours and just changed the bp, bracers and legging into rare augmented light armor, I can tell u LA looks absolutely better then MA at T5, black in colour and without the rusty feeling of the medium i was using. And it gives better stats too, self buffed:</P> <P>Str - 173</P> <P>Agi - 200</P> <P>with MA i only have around 150 str</P> <P> </P>

<font size="2">Personally, I just wish Sony's designers would get a clue about armor and weapons.  I have played numerous fantasy RP games over the years and, in general, I could usually compare the effectiveness of different weapon or armor types (discounting enchantments) just by their names; chain, scale, plate and etc.  Now in EQII I carry a PGT in one hand and a WHIP in the other cause I can't fin a sword or axe that does more damage than this freakin' WHIP.  Absolutely ludicrous!<span>:smileysurprised:</span>   That said, I'm entirely undecided about light vs. medium armor and I pick up the best pieces of any type that I can find when I find them.  I just look at the stats and the cost and ignore the rest.  Works well for me <span>:smileywink:</span> </font><div></div>

Fulginate sucks don't waste any money on that. my items that aren't fabled are Pristine Imbued Ebon Chainmail Coat which is ok and the same in the legs which are also ok.... the resists are better in most cases on the pristine ebon chainmail and the stats differ between the Black Ebon and the Pristine Ebon. Don't go anything else other than med. armor unless it is a Robe of the Invoker.
