Swap pieces and look at the mitigation difference. If it's not much, then go for it.

But, even in solo, isnt avoidance still our best defence? Well, i used the thicket eq:s, still have some pieces, the amount of dmg you take isnt much more even with lesser mitigation... (this might change after LU#8 hits live) ++Xan (lvl 42 ranger on Oasis)

I have a lvl39 Ranger on Nektulos, and I wear a full set of Enchanted armor, off the Lamia's in EL. Not only does it look very nice, but the STR and AGI stats rock (and it was FREE!!!!!). I think it is maybe 5% lower mitigation than medium armor, but you will have resists against magic attacks of about 2300 and mental of 1600, which is nice. I think the Enchanted thicket armor you can wear at lvl40, which is slightly better.

If you solo a lot, buy a nice shield :smileyvery-happy:

Message Edited by TerminalVelocity on 05-03-2005 06:18 AM

I'm still wearing my feysteel brigandine. It's treating me well at 35, but I know I'm gonna have to upgrade within the next few levels. But the stats are so nice and I look soooo hawt!! <pouts>

enchanted thicket woven armor is orange at lvl 38 so people on the monk boards say. i am gunning for this stuff for my monk. great agi and str bonuses which work nicely and with the test server changes that hopefully go through, AGI will finally work right in terms of avoidance. never really thought about ETW for my ranger. guess i am just burned out of the light armor having it as my only option for my monk. meh...

one quick question related to this... which lamia's drop this armor? i been soloing carvers and chamers and all i get is an occassional tradeskill book and the language quest items along with the regular drops of blood and the horn.

Currently lvl 38 and decided to get some, I'm still missing the shoulder piece and boots though.

Enchanted Thicket Woven(with 2 pieces missing) vs Pristine Feyiron (With Ebon eye BP and mob dropped Feysteel helm)

Enchanted Thicket gives me about 200 more HP.
Pristine Feyiron gives me about 150 more Power.
Enchanted Thicket gives me about 30 more STR.
The AGI is about the same.
Pristine Feyiron has about 3% more mitigation.
Avoidance is about the same.

Enchanted thicket looks awesome. I even like it better then I like the carbonite chain look, and I liked that one a lot. I don't know about you guys but I hate the look of Feyiron, Feysteel, AQ chain, and so forth. To me it looks like my toon is running around in sky blue PJ's.

The STR is a big one for me too, since that directly effects the dmg I do and is an area where my toon is really weak.

The roughly 3% mitigation doesn't mean much to me. I'll try to show what I mean:

For what I fight, mob base hits are roughly between 200 and 400 dmg. I get those numbers from the ward off a PGT proc since wards ignore all mitigation and it shows you the raw hit.

Enchanted = ~31% mitigation = mob hits for 138 to 276.
Feyiron = ~34% mitigation = mob hits for 132 to 264.

It just isn't a big differance to me there on the mitigation.

For me enchanted thicket wins, at least untill I can test the next tier of chain.

I love this stuff. It looks great and the stats are awesome. They do not fit the canned equpment stats of player made stuff. You can actaully get agi and str on shoulder pieces rather than wis and sta. Same with gloves +11 agi and +9 str. I miss the power but the high agi makes up for the no power. PLus they have awesome magic resist.

I have gloves, helmet, and bracers, and shoulder plates. I have solo'd lamias on the coast from 39-41 and made a ton of gold selling the pieces to the vendor that I do not need. They also drop woven augmented pieces that sell for at least a gold. The area in EL has been a gold mine for me. i love killing wimpy lamias with two bow shots. I run up and down the coast and it takes me all of a 30 minutes to clear them all. I get about 15% exp and at least 10 g worth of eq.

I picked up a whole suit at 38 and I loved it. Now at 42, I've decided to blow coin on imbued augmented but it was completely unnecessary. In fact, I am still wearing the Enchanted shoulders and probably will for quite some time.

i have been playing around with different stat combinations for a while now and i really like the gloves and sleeves even at level 50

with my pgt equipped and using bow skills i never have to worry about power no matter how long the fight lasts

avoidance seems moe important than mitigation, especially on raid mobs, which favors agi over ac

and

strength is damage

for those reasons and until i loot some fabled stuff worth wearing or find a better combination i think i will be wearing these for a while, people occasional /boggle when they see some armor is ebon forged medium and others a grayed-out light but mitigation just doesnt make a lot of sense for me anymore...strength does and this armor has it on pieces that normally have wisdom

/em Dedaien prays over a dead thread....

Sorry to rezz this thread, but after a stint of soloing Lamia Charmers, I have almost a full set of this armor (still missing the gloves). I am level 36.8 and will be able to equip it in relatively short order.

Undoubtedly, the stats are very very nice. I saw a comparision to Pristine Feyiron in this thread but I am wondering how it stacks up woith Fulginate. (When can we even equip Fulginate?) I am also wondering if anyone has any further experience with the armor to report, i.e., did you get your head handed to you when you drew aggro, or while soloing? If not, I am looking forward to strapping on my hard-earned enchanted thicket woven armor in a level or so. If you got brained while wearing it, I guess its going on the broker!

Thanks!

Message Edited by Drakkonius on 06-14-2005 03:15 PM

I believe we can start wearing fulginate at level 40. I don't know how pristine crafted fulginate chain would compare to the enchanted thicket armor, though.

Heh interesting to see this thread still alive..

If anyones interested, I did go with the enchanted thicket armour but switched out to Fulginate at 40.. got a good two levels out of it. The stats are awesome, an I still had no problem tanking.

Personally I would suggest soloing those Lamias as early as possible, and if you manage to get a full set by 38 use it.. otherwise wait until 40.

Just curious... Am I the only one wearing emerald hide armor? I Love this stuff... good stats, and the graphics are pretty neat... OK they are purple, but still....

Hehe, I considered it, Tek - but I just can't let go of the mitigation offered by my feysteel brigandine. I've sold all the Emerald Hide pieces that I got from quest rewards. Maybe I should have investigated the enchanted thicket armor, but I have an attachment to medium I guess. Plus, I'm almost to 39 now, so I content to wait for fulginate / dropped ebon at 40. The feysteel brigandine has been fantastic for 10 levels now, and it's going to be really hard to let it go. I love the way it looks, pretty unique and the crimson-and-gold design really suits my character. But at 40, I'll just have slip the bell around my neck and start mooing.
