Poison Question

Folks, I know this is more than likely a stupid question, but I can't seem to find anything on it.  I feel totally stupid asking this, but want to start taking advantage of it.  HOW DO YOU USE POISON??????  I just recently started a Ranger, and  really don't know how to use them. Put it in your activatable slot then right click and use.... it will cast like a spell and show a icon in your maintained spell bar....
