Create one of each of the classes that interests you.  Whichever you find yourself wanting to play more, stick with it.  Or stick with them all.  It's a game - have fun.

<P>Heya!   I Love playing the ranger, and just accept that soloing is hard and not effective.  I can solo, but it is NOT easy and you have to be very selective of what you fight as well as where you fight. I've friends who have monks, and they like them a lot.  They can tank better and damage about the same, but they don't get sneak like we do, or track or disarm traps or pathfinding (movement speed) or bows, or our wonderful pets (ok ... snicker snicker)....and other benefits as well.</P> <P>I often see it as, what do you see yourself as "IN THE GAME".  Do you want to be the lone wolf who hunts around and does quick damage to mobs....do you want to face the mob "toe-to-toe" ....just put some Role Play into it and see what meets your needs.  If you just want an UbER character who is always wanted and can solo...create a Warrior or Cleric....every group ALWAYS wants them, especially the clerics (I have one....and it is ok...but I love to make the mobs cry for momma!!!  )</P> <P>Not sure I've helped, but I like to talk, so there it is!  hehe</P>

We <STRONG>can</STRONG> solo, and personally I've gotten a lot better at it. I sometimes do better soloing than I do in a duo group, just b/c I can optimize my tactics to suit my needs. My needs = LOTS of kiting. Ppl don't exactly understand or love it when you drag a mob from hell to breakfast while they're trying to close for melee. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> I'm at a point where I really enjoy soloing, and my kickass bow (Stormfire) and the recent bump to bow CA damage goes a LONG way toward making that a feasible (even desireable) option. Granted, in the low 20s I was feeling like I couldn't solo worth a [expletive ninja'd by Faarbot] - and at the time, I had a mediocre bow and lousy bow skills. It's like night and day compared to my situation now. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>RE: Monk damage...I don't think I'd go so far as to say monks can do 'about the same' damage as rangers. I still think they <EM>generally</EM> fall below a ranger of comparable level and equipment, at least in the pre-40 game. Not to say I couldn't easily be outdamaged by a 31 or 32 monk, but in general I'll be the one doing more damage. Monks do great damage for fighters, but IMO they are still fighters and thus not as focused on DPS as rangers are. The caveat here is the post-40 endgame; I can only report what I hear from others there. I've heard that monks do massive damage and our DPS takes a serious dive (relative to other classes) post-45. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Welcome to Norrath, scout! <DIV>The parts of Rangerhood that are broken should be fixed by the time you would have encountered them =)  They are mostly at the highest levels.</DIV>

<DIV>Rangers are a great class, So are monk types and paladins but they all have their problems, Bruisers complain a lot with nerfs as do rangers and at high level no one wants a paladin tank especially on raids, play what you want to play i love rangers its where my heart is too and as such i play one, sure there are things i would change and fix and balancing needs to be sorted out a bit but that will come in time.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ignore ppl that  tell you to keep making alts if your heart is as a ranger make a ranger and enjoy it they really are an uber class up to about level 45is h when they need a little more work but soe are working on balancing it.   the people that complain on the ranger forums are generally the rangers at heart and they complain cuz they love rangers and want to see  things balanced and fixed.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Those ppl that just flame and complain at ppl complaining are not roleplaying types they are not rangers at heart and usually have many alts and contradict themselves on many posts.. So ignore the flamers there are issues no ranger would argue with that but they are not the only class and if you give SOE time im sure they will balance and fix things.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I mean i love my ranger as it is now (there are issues and tghings i personally think need changing or adding to make life easier) but things can only really get better for rangers when broken things are fixed..</DIV>

I took a break from my 30 ranger for awhile, playing various alts. I just went back to him last night and boy, he is awsome!! Didn't realise just how much I missed him and his style of play. I solo'd him for a while so as to get back in to it, then got in a group. The damage I was doing re-amazed me! It was great and a real buzz. Those arrows sticking in the mobs back seeing him fall to his knees and then going up behind him to finish him off with those deadly backstabs and poisons. Just can't wait to get logged back on! It's got me all blood thirsty so beware! You'll love it.

Welcome to the Ranger world.  Rangers are a GREAT class.   Don't take all the whining about rangers being broken and "our dps sucks" to heart.  Many of these posts are written by people who are just trying to get the attention of SOE.   Sure there are balance issues, but bottom line is we do damage, we kill mobs, we get treasure, and we have fun doing it. Rangers do great DPS.  We use our bows to damage (which is the main reason I chose ranger).   Hardly any class touches our dps outputuntil after level 35.    You can stealth and explore much more of the world then many other classes.   We have speed buffs that make you somewhat faster than many.    You can disarm traps...which is more of a roleplay thing then anything, but hey its something.   Tracking was handy starting out in the world of EQ2 to find NPC's and certain mobs.   <div></div>
