View Full Version : Steady Aim working as intended?

Not exactly a game-breaking issue, but a curious one: In a recent patch the duration of several of our buffs (Hunter's Instinct, Steady Aim, etc.) was increased to 15 minutes. Very nice, I say...makes me a happy ranger. But has anyone else noticed that the recast timer on the Steady Aim buff doesn't start counting until after the buff has expired? As a level 25 ranger, I've gotten into the habit of renewing Pathfinding, Hunter's Instinct, and Steady Aim every 15 mins after they expire. But Steady Aim is still gray for a good 30 seconds when the renewal time comes around...the other two I can immediately recast after expiration. Is this the way it's meant to be? It wouldn't kill me to be without that buff for an extra minute, but neither would it be balance breaking to simply let it recast immediately. Are there any higher level skills that have a similar unusual timer?

Message Edited by Rensor on 03-24-2005 07:03 AM

This is the same for the Paladin skill penitent blessing. Conjourer summoning skills and agitate. I'm sure there are many more throughout the different classes. I beleive its an intentional fix to stop people trying to stack buffs in the same line and to p**s off other people when they're grouping with you having to wait on your buff timers to recycle.

I noticed this as well, and I was pleased to see the longer duration of the Steady Aim. Before, I just never used the spell because it had such a short duration it was basically worthless to cast, and then get off any shots to make use of the benefits. I now try to keep the skill up whenever I can as well.

I don't understand the reset problem either, I think that is a carryover from when it had such a short duration and it took awhile to reset, not a debilitating bug/problem, I'd gladly deal with this and keep the longer duration time. =)

Beowolfe, Unrest Ranger

ya, it seems to be an oversight... Plus the Take Aim upgrade to Steady Aim still only has a 30 sec duration.
