<DIV>Doesn't it make (RP) sense that a ranger should be able to use a wooden quarterstaff, baton or cudgel?  I mean, rangers are supposedly the masters of woodsmanship and nature.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What do you think?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Jerrod Starchaser</DIV> <DIV>Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Blackburrow</DIV>

<DIV>In what roleplaying universe do you ever see this?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"He silently stalked around the base of the last tree to find his quarry cooking a savory stew at his campfire.  Rangerman leapt out and bonked him on the head with a cudgel."</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>or better yet...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"Rangerman crept through the narrow alley--the crowd in the street didn't see him.  He stealthily insterted himself into the head of the parade and started twirling his baton with the other cheerleaders!"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>or....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>"Rangerman stopped on the bridge.  A rather large man was blocking the log passage across the stream.  'Ye have to pay a toll to get across' the man said.  'And who be ye?' asked Rangerman.  'My name is John Little, but the folks around here call me Little John." </DIV> <DIV><BR>Oh wait...that's Robin Hood.<BR></DIV> <DIV>BLUF:  NAAAAAHHHHHH.  I like my rapier.  And my bow.  And my axe.  And daggers.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Retribution - Befallen</DIV>

<P>I like dual wielding sword and dagger. But I wouldn't mind seeing the addition of quarterstaffs. I like Robin Hood, he is an old favorite and definitlely used the staff on occasion. Whether he was a flashy Ranger or a bow oriented Swashbuckler depends on which time in his career or parts of his exploits you focus on <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

<FONT size=2></FONT> <DIV><FONT size=2>It certainly doesn't make much RP sense that we *can't* use them - though I wouldn't really want to, myself. But it's not supposed to make RP sense, it's more than likely a class-balancing thing. If we could use nearly all the weapons in the game, we'd be a fighter class. Since we're scouts, we fall under the usual restrictions. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>That said, I want my big ol' ranger claymore!! <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>"Kaeros crept silently through the dense undergrowth of the forest...with a massive five-foot blade on his back...." Hehehe!</FONT></DIV>

<P>I agree that I think is plausible that a Ranger should be ABLE to use a quarterstaff or other fighting sticks, but I don't feel the need to have them included in our weapons list.  I think it would offer us some more versatility but I don't think it would fit with the fighting style we are given (which I personally am satisfied with).   It seems hard to do a leaping cut with a wooden stick  =).  </P> <P> </P> <P>It would be fun to whack around a few gnolls or orcs with a quarterstaff once in a while, but I think they would have to revamp too much of our class to be able to included them as viable weapons.  Adding them now without revamping the skills would just leave us feeling even more broken and a "half done" class. </P> <P>But for the RP aspect, I agree it sounds plausible that a Ranger would use such weapons, but it isn't my first impression personally.  I've always seen a Ranger as a fast and furious whirlwind of blades...kind of like we are now.  =)</P> <P>Beowolfe, Unrest Ranger</P>

<P>*DISCLAIMER* SERIOUS RHETORICAL ANARCHICAL STATEMENTS FOLLOW ***</P> <P>Depends on which version of Robin Hood you like I guess. I was always partial to the old Showtime series. I guess most people believe that staves are only for [Removed for Content]... err ...merry men.</P>

<P>Personally I miss being able to wield 1hb and 2hs. </P> <P> </P> <P>In EQ1 I loved my disco stick (jagged onyx staff) and ornate greatblade</P> <P> </P> <P>Doesnt really bother me that much in EQ2 as there are plenty of very nice 1hand swords, axes, rapiers, daggers etc to play with.</P>

(Maybe it's feyiron...??) Found it on the broker for 2gp and it's got great damage - obviously it's slower than a dagger, but the increased damage is worth it to me.</FONT></P>

<DIV>As I was running through giant's pass one day, I noticed a gigantinormous bear eying me from the side of the road. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> I said /gsay "Lets kill that bear!  He's looking at me funny!"  To which the tank replied "/gsay You're a Ranger...aren't you supposed to love cute and cuddly things?"  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From a roleplaying perspective, Trees are our friends.  We're lonely and talk to them.  So we probably shouldn't be using axes.  But since we do use axes, it only makes sense that we would chop down some sturdy oaks and make cudgels with them.  Hey...you get to play the way you like.  If you prefer HO-->Stunshot-->Shadow--->Cudgel Bonk that's your business.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>*edit*  Oh...and I told our tank that the bear had bigger muscles, and he promptly ran into battle yelling "/gsay ME KILLZ BADDY BEAR!!!"</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Retribution - Befallen</DIV><p>Message Edited by Dashofpepper on <span class=date_text>03-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>11:01 AM</span>
