<DIV>I know this is just 1 of the countless threads on broken end-game for rangers, but all these threads talk (/rant) about increasing scout dps. </DIV> <DIV>My question is, will that really fix it ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>/rant on</DIV> <DIV>Lets look at a x2 raid encounter.  Say all 12 classes are available from the guild</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I am forming the raid.  how would i go about it ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>total 12</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2 tanks - 1 main (guardian) and 1 secondary tank (pally / berserker ) atleast</DIV> <DIV>3 healers - 2 in the main tank group and 1 in the scondary group. All 3 classes bring things to the table (clerics for the heals, shammy's for the wards and druids for dmg. shields)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>7 dps slots left</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1  wiz - well they are at the highest in dps so they get included first (they evac too)</DIV> <DIV>2 bards - bards buff all stats and they would be needed in each group.. besides they do dps and control HO's</DIV> <DIV>1 mage - pet classes have good buffs/ debuffs and do very good aoe dps or a wiz for the added aoe dps</DIV> <DIV>1 enchanter - to mez adds and breeze</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2 dps spots left</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>brawlers, rogue and predator classes fight for these last two spots. I would pick a monk first since they dps equal to wiz and can tank when needed and 1 guy to control HO wheel. I would slightly prefer a rogue because they have group sneak.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would squeeze a ranger in if he is good friend .. blah blah but really he is going to be the absolute last choice. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So my question is what the hell do we bring to the table ? NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!</DIV> <DIV>we don't buff, we don't do highest dps, horrible aoe dps, our tanking sucks, all and sundry can evac. at 50. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This is really game breaking !! extremely demoralising. I have started a alt because i have no choice</DIV> <DIV>You would think its better for x4 mobs. Well its better but it pretty much turns out to be same. a secondary tank group is needed, more healers ... blah blah.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How can soe FIX us ?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. increase our dps to more than tanks and atleast 95% of mages. Well this is definitely needed. Its the first thing they need to do. But this still won't fix us. we will always be the second rate raid member</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>2. My suggestion is give us advanced Tracking. Allow us to track the raid bosses and other mobs. And not just a list but dots on the map (like counter-strike) It fits with our class perfectly too.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Many of you say that might not be enough . Frankly i can't think of anything else. Anyone has any other suggestion ?</DIV>

I've never had a problem joining group x2 raids in my raiding guild. You really only need 3 healers and 2 tanks, then the rest is DPS. I don't why your guild would stereotype such as "wizards are the best dps in the game, even though wizard A slacks off, has no adept 3's or t5 gear, he should get top priority." Think you should prove to the guild that your a team player and make sure you can work HOs good. I've done most of the group x2 raids and never had a problem because we have people that know what they're doing. Learning to play your class is more important than your class itself. Most bruisers and monks can't control aggro and their tanking doesn't even cut it on upper level raid mobs.I know I'm just ranting, but you should have 2-4 scouts on a 2 group raid tops. If you have 2 bards then that cuts out spots, whereas most of the time my guild has 1 at the most. You can't say that you need 2 bards and a rogue and still expect people to squeeze in other classes.Basically, reputation > all. If your guild trusts you, that extra little dps we're lacking can be overlooked.

And if you have 14 people available for the raid who gets left out ? I don't but thats only because i have reputation - blah blah - but i feel its unfair because that coercer or mage gets left out who are more useful to the raid than me.</P> <P>how do you feel when those monks out there outdps you or don't you question whether we have that special ability that a ranger could bring to a group or raid ?<BR></P>

It definately sucks not having buffs to support a group, most of the time in a group x4 raid the first two groups get a bard and the last 2 groups get all the rest of the scouts. I usually end up in a straight dps group which isn't always a bad thing, but less strategy with that.As long as the raid is a success it shouldn't matter who you have on the raid. DPS usually works in any case, and usually if we have 14 people 2 will volunteer to sit out, otherwise 2 are volunteered to sit out and get in on the next raid.

So what should I, a level 31 ranger who really enjoys the class and wants to be useful to his guild, do?  Start a cleric? <div></div>

Sony has said about 40 times they are "Currently evaluating high level scout damage, and to expect changes soon"  So what should you do?  Start leveling, like the rest of us.  Keep on keepin' on, like Joe Dirt!
