View Full Version : Heritage weapons - explain acronyms pls :)

Every time there's an interesting discussion about powerful weapons and heritage items, I get lost in a sea of SDBSoFFx4 type stuff. I know SBD is serrated bone dirk (though it stands for "soundboard" in my world) and DWB are Dwarven Workboots...but beyond that I'm kinda confused. Can someone shed light on these, please? And if we wanna be on-topic, we can discuss which are best suited to Rangers.

/agreeI have often wondered about some of the acronyms used on these forums. A thread like this would, I feel, be very helpful to a lot of us.

The acronyms came from EQ1, which most of these were lower level items and auctioned frequently in /auction. If mobs ever get unique loot we'll see more of the same items being sold and people will make up new acronyms.

EE Bag also used sometimes for the Bag of Sewn Evil Eyes.

Thanks a lot guys! Things like this really help us lower level folks to understand things a little more clearly. A toast goes out to Jay for posting it.Also...Neecha and Troz...you guys have posted a lot of good information on these forums. I have followed your advice to my advantage many, many times. /bow...for your generosity in sharing your experiences. I think we all appreciate it.

I've had this post stickied since it was first posted. I just noticed today who started it, and who first replied to it.It made me laugh. A lot! :smileyvery-happy: Today Jay and Zholain would be answering the questions. And just so this isn't only a necropost:Anyway, anything to add in T6? I know there's a heritage quest but haven't heard what the reward is.

But it's telling - I'd venture to say that threads like these (and the helpful responses they generated) were the kind that inspired us to help others in turn.

Misty watercolored memories...

I finally started to come to my senses about Jay and Zholain knowingabsolutely nothing when It finally sunk in with Jay asking for help from all the "higher levels" and Zholain thanking them. Then Im thinking (<my new years resolution), wait a minute whose higher than those two. Then I see the date. But this does go to prove what the rest of us Rangers have known for a long time and that is Jay and zholain(aka- Catareina) are eternally linked together. ( however Jay, the lovely catareina is on my server!)I also had the honor of meeting Cat as a lvl 49 Ranger heading into PF (thats Perma Frost Jay..lol) and meet heragain on the way out as a lvl 50 ranger and have her congratulate me...Chanahook

You guys are just too sweet. I remember that day well Chanahook. I think I may have been as nearly as excited for you as you were yourself (nearly). I always love to see my friends accomplish things they are striving for.Chanahook was the first person from the forums that I actually met in-game. I kinda feel bad about the first time we talked because my group was rushing to a raid and we didn't really get to chat much, but fortunately I have had quite a few opportunities since then to hopefully make up for that. It's extremely gratifying to meet new people, and even moreso when they turn out to be as nice as the people I've met from the forums like Chanahook.Old threads like this really make me look back and think about all the things I've accomplished in the game and all the people I've met. It's pretty amazing. When I posted my first reply to this thread, I never thought I'd ever even have an opportunity to complete the Ghoulbane quest(heck, I didn't even know what a Ghoulbane was at that point LOL)....let alone raid for some of the best loot in the game. But by far, the best part has to be you guys. I just love my ranger pals :womanvery-happy:

This is really helpful for new Rangers. Would be nice if the mod could sticky it at the top with the other two useful threads.

Zholain wrote:But by far, the best part has to be you guys. I just love my ranger pals :womanvery-happy:

Ditto that. This community has been a huge part of my enjoyment of this game. I've never experienced anything quite like it. I've always played rangers through various games, but never had the opportunity to connect with like-minded folks like you guys. It really adds a great new dimension to the game.

Chana, I don't know about Cat and I being linked by fate or whatevah, but I'm definitely fortunate to count her as a close friend. I think it was just a cool coincidence that we became active on the forums around the same time and seemed to progress through the game at a relatively similar pace. We obviously have very similar perspectives on our class and the sense of community, though. Great minds and all that.

But she's definitely way more uber than me! Hehehe

Hey Qwexer!! Me and Chanahook are on Highkeep as well Sometimes the traffic on the world ranger channel is pretty light...particularly at certain times of the day. I rarely get to watch it closely because I'm raiding most of the time when I'm logged in, but they're out there. Around 9 or 10pm Eastern US time is the best time to catch some folks on it. Also, there hasn't been quite as much activity on it since the holidays. I think a lot of people may not have gotten back into the swing of EQ2 yet. I know we've got a lot of guild members who are just getting back from break. Keep trying And if you see me on Highkeep (Catareina), don't hesitate to give me a shout.

It's usually pretty active when I'm on - to the point that I have to turn it off sometimes cuz y'all get too dang chatty - but your mileage may vary, particularly if you're playing in the middle of the night or early in the day. See you out there eventually, though.

As for which are good for rangers . . thats sorta tough now.SBD was really nice, but can get Drinia's filet knife now also, better stats lil less dmg, but as i've said before rangers do sub par dmg in melee per over all dps classes, we rock the bow plain and simple.PGT Awesome item, most use it a LONG time. If your not using it, may also consider wearing GEBs for the power regen, cause well who doesn't like gold slippers?, INT on GEB's is nice also for helping raise your proc and spell buff dmg.SSoY also a good weapon, though sorta wasted in off hand and not used nearly as much as PGT, least from what i've seen. decent proc, decent stats all round good weapon.Jboots, while in your 40's they are decent for the mit andall, but effect doesn't stack with your pathfinding, so best to swap out for cobat or GEBS depending what way your going for armor.Thats about it really, EEbag is a given, Guise is just a fun toy with no reagent illusion dark elf. Most the other items from Heritage quests is either not worth it or not usable by rangers. Cept Ghoulbane, but its decent if using a shield setup which alot more are time to time, but time you get it, you'll have pgt so again you probably will never use it.

Good thing I wasn't drinking my coffee when I read the op's name. I have yet to meet them in game but I know a few on my server that post here. I also know there is at least one forrum here that gives the common zone accronyms tho I can't seem to find it ATM. (good thing my mind isn't in the gutter for that one)
