<DIV>After many years of playing EQ as a ranger, and then canceling my EQ subscription for EQ2,I am sorry to now say i canceled my subscription.Just doesn't have the same magic for me anymore.I don't have the time to play it anymore, and its just not as rewarding as it should be.I don't want to go through the whole "ranger suck"era again.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers don't suck, just SOE's version of them.I mean i can't even bring myself to log on and play when i do have the time, and I am very disapointed with the whole thing and more frustrated then anything, its just not fun.Goodluck to you all</DIV>

<DIV>Personally I don't feel the class sucks, the DPS is fantastic, and when someone says that "SOE's Vision of a Ranger"  Sucks, I have to ask, what is a Ranger supposed to be.  I guess peeps won't be completely happy untill they give us the level 51 skill "Ranger Gaze"  Thats the one where all you have to do is look at a mob and it dies.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But if you don't have the time to play anyone more I can empathize with you, the game is only as rewarding as the amount of effort/time you put in.  Personalyl I love the game, decent story line good combat system, plenty of solo activities to get into.  Yah just have to get out there and play.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good luck to you Ranger, hope you find what your looking for elsewhere.</DIV>

<DIV>I've gotta agree with you Arazeth, I thoroughly enjoyed playing my ranger until mid 40's, at that point it became apparent that the things a ranger had previously been valuable for were no more. My DPS became very second rate, utility any other scout has the HO abilities we do, we (predators) alone have no group benefit abilities at all, no grp invis no songs (uber speed, stat bonuses etc) of course. Now that's all ok because up until 5 or so we had excellent DPS to compensate, I mean that's what defines the predator classes, excellent DPS. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At 45 I realised that Guardians could match my DPS. clearly I can't match their ability to tank, Swashies can exceed my DPS, I can't Smuggle etc or any other grp abilities, Bruisers Monks etc clearly out DPS me. Wizzies out DPS me ( I don't have such an issue with this, they are also a pure DPS class) BUT they get Evac as well. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm rambling here, but I really struggle to see what a 45+ ranger brings to any group that another class cannot BETTER and bring some other ability uniquely their own.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>oh and btw an assassin told me the other day they get some form of self haste.........</DIV> <DIV>clearly our Level 51 + abilities must be ludicrously good.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Sorry to hear of another loss in the Ranger family, but I do hope you find something fun elsewhere. I always recommend Guild Wars (releasing April 2005) to those driven to the brink of madness by EQ2. Info at <A href="http://www.guildwars.com/" target=_blank>www.guildwars.com</A>. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Now...which coward one-starred GoNomar just for saying 'sorry to see you go, but I'm still having fun?' His post wasn't mean or antagonistic, but one of you just had to give his reply a crappy rating, huh? And Arazeth - you get so defensive over his remarks, like he's threatening your validity as a ranger or something. He just said he's still having fun. He didn't bash anyone. Didn't you just tell me yesterday to "keep playing as long as you're still having fun?" Yet you bash him for doing exactly what you said one day ago. If he's enjoying it, leave him the hell alone. </FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Like my LONG reply to your post said yesterday, it's discouraging enough reading all the posts about how broken we are post-40, so those of us who haven't hit that slump yet don't need you b!tching at us whenever we slip up and admit we're still enjoying our rangers. </FONT><FONT size=2>I'm not saying you don't have plenty of reason to be disappointed in post-40 rangers, but take that out on SOE, not on those of us who may find some way to eke a bit more fun out of our characters. </FONT></DIV></DIV>

Sad that you're blowing off a class that isn't even that unbalanced anymore. Next patch we'll have dps in the same level as everyone else. If you can't stick with a class when they're bad you'll probably end up back here in eq2 as a ranger once we get patched and are above everyone else someday.Sucks to see you go, but its not a message to SOE if that's what you're trying to do.

<DIV>I'm sorry but the patch they're doing isn't gonna make us equal damage.  Wow they're finally putting a use to the Steady Aim line but the update doesn't say anything about Take Aim and Focus Fire being fixed as they increase bow skill and not ranged.  That alone isn't going to increase our DPS to compete with swashbucklers or brigands.  Something just needs to be done where we can get good arrows somehow without spending all of our gold.</DIV>

<DIV>To me a Ranger is someone you don't want to come face to face with in the wilderness,a warrior of the forrest and of the forrest, using all means necassarry to hunt you down and rid you of your sorry existance. While attuned with nature and using her grace with there bows and blades.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would love to see a warrior survive out in the wilderness alone and with nothing, would it make him tougher and stronger? If your enviroment decides who you are then why aren't rangers in EQ2 more vicious,I personally think a ranger would put an assassin to shame if it came down to pure aggression.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I can't really say what a Ranger is,cause you all have your own definitions of what one should be.I personally think having classes in a game limits you,you should be able to pick your skills and roleplay them and choose new ones as your heart desires.I've also grown up playing many RPG's so I respect that you feel you need a label to descirbe your character.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>A MMORPG with no classes and just skills and experience would be great, finally no complaining about how our class was nerfed,or how that class outdamages us,and how you feel F'd over. And you can label your characters class whatever you wanted it to be.The Elder Scrolls had a excellent system for this.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The pure problem with the ranger class is nobody can really define what a ranger should be.Alot of people don't agree with SOE's version,so it causes alot of mixed feelings.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I made it to level 21,I could no longer hunt how i wanted to hunt,i had to use tactics, which are okay, but sometimes you want to kill how you want to kill,i couldn't just start whacking away like i could before 20,I know there are classes for just walking up and smacking, but the word Ranger alone has special meaning to me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For someone who is extremely agile i sure got hit alot,I guess the mobs got stronger, which makes them able to land more blows on someone who is able to dodge slow witted  muscle heads..hmmmm,wait wouldn't they have to get faster, not stronger???maybe i am wrong. Not saying all the mobs are slow and dumb witted, but the ones that are seemed to take there dear sweet time and still land a blow.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Well i heard the increased strength was the reason there able to smack on us more.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In EQ i was excited when i would kill a mob,it actually dropped some decent stuff, and the loot got you addicted, cause you never knew what shiny or nice new blood bathing tool the mob might drop, and they at least dropped something.I know it doesn't make alot of sense for some mobs to have certain items on them, but come on,Phat lewt is all we really want, amongst other things.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I got tired of fighting solo, and getting nadda, and your all going to argue that the mobs shouldn't drop uber items all the time, and i agree.Just something to show for it,even if its a fossilised pile of [Removed for Content].I don't know however if this changes at higher levels in the game????</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Okay Well i am done Ranting</DIV>
