<DIV>Ranger damage sucks. Low maximum damage, low sustained damage, little utility.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Assassin damage is not much better. They do get the biggest hits to make them look good though. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please go make a bruiser/monk, wizard/warlock. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The brawlers can tank and deal most damage in game, whether in bursts or sustained against epic mobs. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The nukers, well they don't run out of power even against epic mobs, and their nukes do godly damage. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Both classes mentioned get group buffs and have lots of utility, such as fear, mezz, root, burn health for more power, then send power to other players (great with druid combo).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers and assassins, i.e. predator classes are pure damage dealers with almost zero utility save pathfinding, escape and tracking. Every scout gets that. ANd even so, they nerfed escape, tracking doesn't really work too well, and pathfinding, well that's just pathfinding. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rangers and assassins spend gold dishing out damage (poisons, arrows), with rangers spending a bit more than assassins. Poisons don't proc alot, and arrow damage just sucks even with T5 player crafted arrows. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is no reason making a ranger unless you just like the name "RANGE"r, which is why I am still playing mine... well... sorta. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I'd just like to point out that I joined a group in Varsoon yeserday, and my little 30 Ranger (the lowest level member of the group) outdamaged a 34 Wizard. On more than one occasion. And the Wizard was <EM>trying</EM>. </DIV>

<DIV>There are good players and bad players, I'm assuming everyone is a good player here. </DIV> <DIV>i.e. all spells app4 or above, non-stop spamming of spells, use of single HOs, player crafted arrows, poisons, etc. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I tried my best against a lvl 50 wizard friend. It was simply impossible. One ice comet every 45 seconds doing 3500 damage, gimme a break. -.-" 3500 damage is like, me in a pure melee oriented buff/debuff group, with me doing crippling blade (1000+), Poucing Attack (400+)x3, tanglethorn (500+)x3. That's 7 spells to catch up to their 1 spell. Rangers totally lose in terms of power consumption, not to mention that wizards, with a druid, can have infinite power. Wizards also have 2 spells on separate timers that does 700+ and 1000+ damage -.-" Did I mention warlocks could drain mana? Forget it, I'm going to stop the comparison here. It's just sad. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Let's talk about DPS. There are 4 types of DPS.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Instant 10 seconds DPS (PvP Style): Winners - Assassins, Wizards <--- this is where I'm most [Removed for Content] at</DIV> <DIV>Sustained 20 seconds Heroic Encounter DPS (Your average Permafrost XP group): Winners - Sorcerers, Brawlers</DIV> <DIV>Sustained 3 minute Boss Ecounter DPS (Oh, I see a named): Winners - Sorcerers, Brawlers</DIV> <DIV>Sustained 15 minute Epic Encounter DPS (That thing cons Godly. Let's die) - Sorcerers, Brawlers </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Being a "predator" class, rangers suck at all the DPS types, and sadly, that is the only thing we can offer. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And as a scout, we move like a snail in stealth and track like a pig. </DIV> <DIV>(yes, I have the trained version of "increased track". It does absolutely nothing.)</DIV> <DIV>(yes, I have trained version of stealth at lvl 40, and no I am not happy. I used a special training skill and most casters and furies get the same invis but with no speed penalty. Hell, some are even group invis with no speed penalty. And no, it is not better. NPC scouts and etc. still see through my stealth.)</DIV> <DIV>(And most importantly, NO, the trained stealth doesn't stack with Jboot+Pathfinding+SoW Totem which usually gives me 50 run speed > flying carpet.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So much for, "Rangers are natural outdoorsmen and trackers and masters of stealthy movement in underbushes." Yeah, we certainly use our "perception and cunning to gain the advantage over our adversaries". Our perception at seeing how crappy this class is, and our cunningness to not quit game but roll brawlers and sorcerers. :smileyvery-happy:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no argument over brawlers and sorcerers beating predators in terms of sustained DPS, but when we lose in terms of instant DPS, it is plain sad. Just imagine if PvP comes out, you go shoot some wizard for 1000 damage, then the wizard turns around, casts an ice comet followed by a ball of fire, and you explode in flames like some kamikaze terrorist who wrapped herself with TNT explosives. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Evil. </DIV> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by CyberEva on <span class=date_text>02-28-2005</span> <span class=time_text>07:12 AM</span>
