<DIV>   I know I am going to be flamed, but frankly even after the nerfs.. Rangers are still very viable and fun.  I have 4 charchters from 22 to 38.. my favorite is still my 36 ranger.  If I keep up my armor and get all adept spells and pay attention to what I am doing.. I can solo just fine.  </DIV> <DIV>   Admittedly I hunt with the same group every day.. so finding a group is not hard... but I can tell you for sure my group wants and needs me as DPS.. I have parsed damage and although we dont have a wizard type in our group.. I consistanly am the lead damage in our group.  On days that I dont play .. they look for a ranger to fill my spot.  </DIV> <DIV>Yes it was nice to have more damage and higher evade dodge etc before agi nerf.. but im betting the palidins and shadowknights liked it to have faster horses..does it mean we are no longer viable? Not in my oppinion.  </DIV> <DIV>   We can still track.. we can still evac.. we can still do great dps in a group.. we can save casters in our groups when they get aggro, by hitting the mob with trick shot so the tank can get aggro back.. we have great bow damage (if you use good arrows and bows)  we can stealth and move around in dungons.. we still have movment buffs.. we have monster debuffs... we wear chain...we can pop boxes.. we can safe fall..we get poison..</DIV> <DIV>Are we the BEST at everything? NO.. is anyone the Best at everything? NO  Take a minute or two to go through the other class boards here at this site.. NOT ONE class is happy.. every single one is whining about something.. "such and such class does this better.. im quitting becuse things changed.. Im not the BEST at all of my arts.. etc etc"</DIV> <DIV>Think for just a moment.. if any class were the BEST at everything they did.. everyone would make that class and nothing else.. what sense would that make?</DIV> <DIV>I realize that everyone wants to be UBER, but maybe if folks just learned to fully utilize what positive skills they have, and enjoyed the content of what is there.. and spent 1/2 the energy they spent whining.. they would realize rangers can be a blast.. and are useful.</DIV> <DIV>   In my oppinion.. if somone plays a ranger to his fullest potential.. and did it properly.. (ie.  im gonna lay out a buttload of damage on this mob real fast to show everyone just how bad [Removed for Content] a ranger really is.. opps I pulled aggro off the tank and wasted the healers manna to heal me.. oppps now the healer has aggro and the tank has to blow all his power trying to save the healer.. fyi. the healers and tanks dont appriciate this..(This happens OFTEN in groups).. or ill just back up and open a can of whup [Removed for Content] on this mob with my bow.. Dang.. where did all those adds come from behind me?.. and when these types of things happen.. it begins to sour groups against rangers.  Played properly a ranger can be and is VERY useful... and a welcome addition to any group.. played poorly.. they are a pain in the [Removed for Content].</DIV> <DIV>I guess what I am saying is.. folks need to maybe look around and see that we really dont have it so bad as rangers.. most of the problems we have getting groups are problems we (as a class) have created by poor playing... and before you point a finger at another class and say .. look how good they have it.. go to thier boards and read.. you will find out they are probably pointing the finger at another class saying the same thing.</DIV> <DIV>   As a sidenote.. I am very excited about the new Mentoring aspect coming to the game.. I think this is a VERY big step in right direction for grouping.. exp.. and guilds.. For those saying "I cant solo after 40, and finding a group is tough. I used to be able to at 25 .. go join a leval 25 guildie and hunt away.. you get the same exp.</DIV> <DIV>    Thank you for your time.. LET THE FLAMING COMMENCE!!</DIV>

<DIV> <DIV>No flames here...I'm a level 40 Ranger, and have no intention of playing any other other class. I complain a lot about some of our class issues, and I still think there are several things that need to be fixed/tweaked. Overall though, I'm not sure there is a more challenging and flexible class to be played. It bothers me that some things have been 'nerfed' before other thing have been 'fixed', and the cost of my dps bothers me as I advance levels. But I've adjusted to the nerfs, compensated for the bugs, and dial back my dps whenever I can to conserve on expensive arrows and player made poisons (save those for the special occasions). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have no problem finding groups when I want them, and can solo pretty well when I pay attention to what I'm pulling. With my PGT, fast stealth, pathfinding, tracking and evac, I'm not sure there's a better class out there for overall solo-ablitiy (quests, encounters, harvesting, exploring, etc). I can get in undetected quickly, find my target, and get out safe if I find myself in too deep. If I'm willing to spend some serious coin on the best arrows and poison, I can still solo group mobs with some element of risk (had to make some adjustments to play style after the nerfs, but with with some creativity I can still hang). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In group situations, I just stopped paying attention to the dps parses (not going to be the best dps unless I'm willing to spend a couple gold per encounter), and started focusing on how to best to help the group in each particular situation. I also stopped listening to the know-it-all group members that think they know how to best play my class (why aren't you using your ranged attacks, why'd you evac so soon - we coulda had him, you're not using enough power [love my PGT], whatya mean you can't track a red named?....whatever). We're versatile enough to play different roles in a group from encounter to encounter, so I figure make the most of that flexibility. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Ranger's not a class for everyone...as proven by some of the crummy Rangers I've run into out there. If you like being resourceful and creative, if you like to play a mix of grouped and solo, and don't mind not being the UBER this or UBER that, you can probably have a blast as a Ranger. Nothing's going to come easy, cheap, or quick though...you absolutely have to be willing to work at being good, and be willing to try things in different ways if you plan to take this class past level 30ish. If they'd fix a couple of our CA's and make it a bit cheaper after 40 to keep good arrows and poisons on hand, I'd be a happy camper.</DIV></DIV>

<DIV>To the Op , u should really read some constructive forums, is not ranting is merely players not satisfied with the issues our clas has atm, soloing is not impossible but we as rangers do have a few downsides to it, also adept3's unless u hunt 5 hrs a day to come up with a rare or enough money to buy these i dont think the majority of lvl 30 rangers have a few plat to spend on equip and spells.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Landacet~LvL 34 ranger of Re </DIV>

Do you mean just people that are helping each other out? I don't see this as nearly as much as I wish I did. Just the other day, someone asked for help and I asked him what he needed help with, and then I was called a [Removed for Content] for asking. I'm not saying that every person in the game is a horrible person and that everyone should die, but I was just wondering what you were talkin about hehe.

I have 4 characters too and of them all I like my ranger the best. But recently I've had no luck getting a group and the fact that we can't solo for crap makes me play my other characters. With my 28 fury I can easily solo lvl 36 solo turtles in EL, I can barely handle white solo crabs in TS on my Ranger. I love soloing and there fore I don't play my Ranger much, which sucks because I really love my ranger.

<DIV>Mentoring is what u can do at lvl 50 lets say u hit 50 and ur guild or whoever is lvl 20 and u wanna group with them and help them, well now u can, ur equipment and stuff will be the same but ur lvl will be that of the average group lvl until the encounter is over, "mentorin" personally is great though is just a way for our lvl 50 buds not to gte bored and quit before the expansion comes out.</DIV>

Youre still ok in grind groups. But the fun and the utllities are starting to lack... severly. In order to keep up with the DPS demand, you have to spamm special attacks, which causes you to either <FONT color=#ffcc00>A) Draw agro and get yelled at by healers/tanks</FONT>, or <FONT color=#cccc66>B) Run out of mana, which in order slows down your group since they have to wait for you to regen power</FONT></FONT><FONT color=#cccc66>.</FONT></DIV></DIV>

It has nothing to do with your lvl, your equiplent goes down in lvl with you (uber 50 gear becomes uber 20 gear etc...) and it's not group based, it a one on one thing. You should really check the Dev/John Smedley posts on this, they explain it as clear as possible, which is still a little sketchy. Just don't want a lot of talented people to skip out on this cause they got miss-info about how it works. <DIV>No flame.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm a lvl 42 ranger and like most I love my class.  Ya, we need to be fixed a bit and maybe given a few extra bow attacks and maybe speed up the attack rate of our bows....</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But other then that, I do manage to dish out some good dps from time to time.   I popped out a whopping 190dps on an even con mob in CT tonight.  I was just experimitting with using my ranged attacks then slipping in to do melee once they were all popped.</DIV> <DIV>I was even using the rip arrows.   So ya...its possible.   After that my dps hardly ever went below 100 dps when I was able to use my bow.    I still kinda suck on group encounters if there is more then 3 mobs.  They either drop to fast or it takes me to long to get behind em.   </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But I'm still gonna keep playing my ranger.  Its fun and I enjoy it.   </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Laeani Spytfyre</DIV> <DIV>42 Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Wrath</DIV> <DIV>Unrest Server</DIV>
