View Full Version : Rangers Deserve a Fair chance after Patch Feb 17/2005
<DIV>Apparently constantly complaining about your class gets you everywhere in this game and it seems becasue rangers are dignified and show maturity and respect seem to have be left unnoticed. Well its time we make a huge petition so the devs realize you have to make this game fair and that you can't look over the non - complainers. This has happened so many times the monks and bruisers complained and complained and they got their change so now their class is even better then before. Yet again the Wizards and Warlocks kept on complaining even after they had their aoes put back then even on top of that they kept complaining and after todays patch its just rediculous.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now this leads me to the situtation with rangers. After todays patch we are completely useless half our skills are still broken (this is what 2-3 months after a really long time) so before todays patch rangers were a dps we weren't uber dps but we got the job done we were acceptable to be in a group. But now our damage is nothing compared to other classes we are left in the dust and everyone just laughs at us cause for xp's sake we can't contribute anything to a group. So its our job to petition to the devs taht they need to even the scoreboard and help us out because we tryed to work the ranger issues out the civilzied way but apparently the mature way isn't the wayto get stuff done. The real way to get your class fixed? Well according to Monks and Casters its just to add some wine with that cheese.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Doh</DIV>

I can honestly say I've never been laughed at... guess I must be teaming with the wrong sort of people
Thats why I am running that post Ranger Suggestions, hoping the devs will see the outcry on our forums for these changes, etc

<DIV>I agree, thats why a couple of us have been writing about this respectfully for a couple weeks. Not only do we have low DPS as compared to the other classes, we need to BUY or insignificant amount of DPS. Now that blows my mind, not only do I get to go bankrupt, I have to go bankrupt while not having people wanting me to be in their groups. Thank god for my guild, if not I dont know if I will ever get anything done.</DIV>

<DIV>/agreed</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just a note...my brother I play with is a 26 monk. In this game monks are classified under fighter (aka tank) classes. Not only can he feign death and escape fights, he can tank against things that kill me in about 2 seconds with absolutely no problem and hardly any loss of hp and he outdamages me two to one easily. It's sad to see we were one of the only classes not to be even touched in this patch when most of the people I know in the game even admit rangers need the most work. Don't take it from me, ask guildmates or fellow rangers. Talk amongst the community and watch how other classes play. Play another class. Compare. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>-Khalin</DIV> <DIV>25 ranger</DIV>
My DPS is pretty solid usually, most fights, at 36, i am parsing in at 4k or so in runnyeye, usually 500-1k more than anyone else in the group, I usually outdamage wizards, and assassins, except of course, when they use thier 5min timer backstab, even then, its not by much, if you work hard, you damage hard... Of course, it sucks being paper when you end up being an aggro magnet because you just did 1500 to a mob in about 5 seconds.. Deft Lunge - 600 , Sniping Shot 400, triple shot 500, plus poisons etc, our damage is pretty signifigant if you use the skills, only problem is our massive power cost, my pouncing attack, lunge combo is over 100power a pop, now at 36, I have about 1600 power unbuffed, and a 168 agility self buffed, as an iksar.. even then I run into power problems, because our skills come back so [FAAR-NERFED!] fast, and I use Refreshing Bumblebee drink, that stuff is amazing, and my PGT... As for us soloing, I found myself soloing pretty well today actually.. my damage was decent, and with PGTs proc might of the land, the 500point ward really helps, not to mention the stream of power that comes in, now only if its proc was more often. All my skills are adept to master<p>Message Edited by Rents on <span class=date_text>02-18-2005</span> <span class=time_text>12:07 AM</span>

<DIV>I agree that we need attention. But, please don't start the whine and complaining post like so many other classes did. I defiently Applaud Rents on his efforts, that was an excellent post. Lets try and keep our complaints as well strctured and mature as his. </DIV>

Similar would be to compare oneself wielding 2 orange con heritage weapons against someone wielding 2 merchant bought, statless grey con weapons</LI> <LI>Adept 1 skills will drop less and less, myself I had to hunt a lot, really a lot to get some Adept1 skills or even see them on the brokers of both cities. The rare ones are fewest to drop for Scout classes in my experience (might be bad luck though), I have seen skill up to level 50 drop for several classes, but rarely a level 40-45 one for myself...</LI> <LI>Appropriate armor will get rare on single group hunting drops, most you will see drop is light to very light armor with a little heavy mixed in. E.g. I have yet to FIND (loot in groups or buy of broker) any decent shoulder piece of medium armor, yet I could get a full set of very decent light armor in minutes of the broker, and for cheap money</LI></UL> <P>Seriously, getting to a gear standard comparable to you at level 40+ costs around 17 plat, and to get the core skills to adept+ (counting adept 3 for what you have as master, since that is really, REALLY rare and not achievable other than by luck) surely will cost another 9 plat. All that while we have to use really expensive playermade arrows and poisons to not have a blurred comparison to other classes. Blurred in a sense of feeling wastely underpowered, whining for upgrades, getting upgrades and then seeing that we are overpowered as hell when using T5 poisons/arrows hehe.</P> <P>No other Subclass is as restricted as Rangers are (though Rogue Subclasses and Assassins come closest to us, but without the high need for arrows), no other Archclass sees their Armor type drop that rare in higher levels, and I'd say that also no other archclass sees their skills drop so rare in the highlevel, 40+ game. It is rumored though that our skills would drop in Solusek's Eye... but no one ever goes there since going there is much more efford and hunting there is much harder than going to and hunting in Permafrost - common opinion on my server, myself I so desire to go there, even just to see it...</P>

<DIV>If theres any doubt out there that other classes believe were the weak ones now, heres what I heard on the 'ooc' Feb 17 by a non Ranger. "I learned Gnoll talk and discovered that Ranger in Gnoll tongue means Nerfed! I had to laugh at that even as I was recouperating from a nasty fight with a ^^ green.</DIV>
