<DIV>Ok, I need some advice from those of you who have seen actual numbers:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I use special attacks only, which as I believe at this point, do not take weapon speed into account, then it would be best to get the highest damage weapon possible, no matter what the weapon speed.  Correct?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, duel wield, again, from what I have read, seems to slightly out damage single wield weapons when measuring dps.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If this is true, then what are the highest damage duel wield weapons for pierce and slash?  I say both because I would like to build my slashing abilities for when I get debuffs that reduce resistance to pierce and slash.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for the advice, </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Kailong</DIV> <DIV>Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Faydark</DIV>

<DIV>You are right that skills do not rely on weapon speed. The higher the damage obviously the higher damage the skill. Also the level of the skill has a big impact. I try to balance damage and speed because there will be some times where you may not have access to all of your skills. Such as dungeons. In those cases you will need speed. I use Feysteel Ornate Spears and I average around 50dps at level 28 which is pretty good from what I have seen others at. Wizards blow me away still but its all good. I would suggest other weapons if you want just let me know what level you are at. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Lind</DIV>

<DIV>Neither weapon delay nor weapon damage have any impact on your combat art effectiveness.  Wield style doesn't matter either.  As long as your weapons are white-con or higher, your arts will work the same.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are some benefits to slower weapons, but they're complicated and don't make a big difference.  </DIV>

<DIV>What level are you? =) </DIV> <DIV>The right group combo, skill chains, and equipment grant you to do the most damage, but that all depends on what level you are. </DIV>

<DIV>I favour dual wield myself - the delay is fairly minimal and you can keep up both your slashing and piercing skills by careful choice of daggers / swords / whips etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've found that I get my best results from slipping in and out of stealth as often as possible, though obviously this isn't really something you can do solo... The way I see it, we have Hunt, Stalk and Shrouded Strike that will all place us in stealth and are all on separate timers. We also have some nice, high damage stealth attacks, again on different timers. So you cycle through them. I tend to use the long reuse timer ones like Shadow Lunge first, so they have a chance of a second go later in the fight, then Shadowflame...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Poison is your friend.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And the group makeup also helps - if you've got some de-buffers in there then your damage will naturally increase.</DIV>

<DIV>Few tips from an almost 50 Ranger</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1) Poison =  more dps period.</DIV> <DIV>2) High or better satiation on drinks = More dps. Especially in chain pulling groups youve got to keep your power up to doo good damage</DIV> <DIV>3) Most bang for the buck with skills...</DIV> <DIV>This gets tricky but heres the essentials.</DIV> <DIV>At self buffed melee speeds (no bards/chanters in group) your better off pretty much running a loop on your skills. By loop i meen find a set of good damage skills that you can just rattle off 1,2,3,.....5,6,7 and pick back up at 1 right after 7. Be sure and mix in debuffing skills in here.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Grouped with Bard+Chanter at High lvl. Depending on your gear you may start finding that with high haste such as FBSS+Bard+Chanter+etc... you swing really really fast. so fast in fact that you often do better damage than some of your lower damage skills. In these cases let the melee ride and be sure and hit your debuffs and Big Hit skills.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hope this is a help. If you do nothing else do get good drink and good poison. These 2 things are great dps boosters alone.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Cexia on <span class=date_text>02-17-2005</span> <span class=time_text>10:44 AM</span>

Along the lines of having enough power- snag yourself a Polished Granite Tomahawk and a Manastone if you can. They're heritage items, and take a while to complete, but they put your power production through the roof.PGT has a proc which buffs you for 18str, ward for 500, and repleneshes power. It goes off fairly often too. With blade flurry active, nail a triple shot - many times it'll proc when you need it. +10agi helps the powerpool, and the ward makes rangers soloable. I'm able to take down orange solo mobs most of the time. (We shouldnt have to rely on equip to make our class viable, but until the devs help us out, it helps)Start this quest by learning giant language and speaking with obsid boulderbloom in the steppes. (rescue his bear tarby first)Manastone fits in your activatable slot, and besides looking really sweet and making your groupmates jealous, it can be used every 60 seconds to convert approximately 600 health into 200 power. When in groups, you dont really need your health, and can hit this every now and then to keep your power up. Even when solo, it reduces downtime (eat food to replenish health). Too bad it cant be used while crafting <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Start this quest by slaying a named ratonga, Stiletto, in the steppes.Join a guild to get a hand finishing these, you'll need some backup, or a lot of time ;-D
