I have a question for those above lvl 25....I got Natural Instinct, and the next day bought the Adept I for it on the broker for 2g48s. I buffed before I scribed, and took note of the ups in my skills, and then buffed again after scribing the adept version, and the buffs didn't go up at all. Is this broken? Why would you bother to upgrade this if the buffs don't go up? Anyone else have any experience with this? I will check again tonight, but it only seems to buff my ranged etc 10 pts.

It seems to me, i had the same exp with my pally adepts, that if an art is OJ that its maxed /level. so upgading will seem to have no effect. as you level it should stay OJ for several levels and increase in power. Thats my experience anyway. Keep checking it I think youll find im right.

Lord I hope so. I am not a pauper, but 2.5g is a lot to spend on a spell for me, infact the most I've spent so far....btw, what do you mean by OJ? maybe I don't read enough forums, but I can't figure that one out. lol

Ah. well, in this particular case, the min/max skill lvl for Natural Instinct places it white the minute you get it, so it is and never will be orange. Dunno if this is intended, as it is a self buff, or what, but perhaps as I level, I will find it keeps increasing the buff a bit longer....dunno, will have to level some more and find out.

Much the same with the level 39 upgrade to the skill Primal Reflexes - this gives the same skill and ability bonuses, +10 to archery and is blue when gained.

Upgrading to App II and Adept I had no effect in either case. I /feedbacked this, but it seems likely that the skill is like escape / lucky break in that upgrades are there but have no effect.

Very irritating waste of cash.

well, it's been a long time since original post. but i thought i would complain too and hopefully others will as well, and perhaps SOE will consider to do something or give some info.

i have bought natural instinct adept 1 too, just to find out it does nothing more - at least when looking at discription. that does not please me, because i spent money on it and that sucks. and it even costs more power, and although it's not much, just the thought of it sucks too.

so i petitioned a GM and asked him if i was missing something. and, of course, i get the old stupid 'we are not allowed to give out game secrets' reply.

now, devs, pls look into this and fix this thing or at least give a discription of the buff which tells me why its adept1 is better then app1.

and to be honest, i can't understand all this 'mechanics are secret' stuff. either you give info on mechanics so people can find out and decide why the hell they should prefere one thing over the other, or just give better descriptions of the items/CAs/spells. somhow other roleplay systems - D&D comes to mind - can do pretty well, even though lot's of the mechanics are described in the manual - and that's for the computer games, if you want you can get all the info from pen&paper, and the game still is free of exploits or whatever you guys fear by giving out 'secret info'.

Message Edited by jarlaxle888 on 06-17-2005 09:41 AM

My understanding is that they are going to look at a bit of a combat revamp and that all the spells will be looked at to make sure situations like this do not occur. Adepts will always be decent upgrades to apps.

When going to buy spells I do always do a comparison of the version I have against the version I want to buy. I did this with natural instinct and noticed the values were the same so did not bother buying it. Well worth doing as there are a lot of spells, accross all classes, which do not upgrade like this one, or the upgrade is so minor it is not worth buying.

Kytz, 28 Ranger, Splitpaw

i hope they will look into all the spells. i heard too, that other classes have some strange 'upgraded' and strange functioning spells/CAs as well.

thanks for the tip. i normally look at the descriptions. can't quite remember, could be that i forgot to do it with this one. but what's more likely is that i looked at the descriptions and had some naiv thought on the line of 'it should be better, perhaps i'll see it when i scibe it...' well, i did not see it after i scribed... :smileyvery-happy:

There are so many broken or questionable spell upgrades that it hardly surprises me at all any more. I saw a master version of Pick Off on the broker. And I was completely unsurprised that it only debuffed 1 or 2 more points of defense and agility than the Apprentice 1 version I had. It's clear to me that very little thought went into verifying the spell "upgrades" especially at the higher levels. Always inspect before you upgrade.
