<DIV>Ok im getting tired of reading all these threads about rangers SUCKING because we need to pay for our DPS, i can tell you this just isnt true im a level 50 ranger Ihave best melee weapons and best bow you can get i have all top kit too.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As a ranger we specialise in melee skills  they are our PRIMARY source of damage we can go all the way through the game to level 50 and never pick up a bow and have people going WOW at our melee DPS.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We get skills to make arrows like makeshift (carbonite) and Rip / Tear (feyiron) and these suffice you never NEED to buy an arrow sure the top damage arrows are fulginate arrows from merchant but you dont need em.. BOW skills COMPLIMENT your melee if you are playing a ranger primarily as a bow user you are neglecting 90% of your DPS which is melee.. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Looking though our skills before you have them makes it look like they are bow skills  they are not a lot are RANGED melee attacks.. Yes RANGED MELEE... we have a much greater range on our melee sills than any other prof we get seriously good DPS and at level 50 OD level 50 assasains 90% of the time (except when thier 5 min skil land 30 min reset big hiots are up) </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So people should STOP worrying about are they this and are they that and just play the profession that best suits them.. We do get nice bow skills we also get very good melee skills .. WE ARE A MELEE CLASS WITH BOW SKILLS..</DIV>

<DIV>Even at ~30 I have found this to be true as well.  And at this level Feyiron arrows from Rip are more than sufficient.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, money is never really an issue, because with Sneak, and stationary hide, you can harvest "?" from just about anywhere.  It is rare that I do not come back from a night with less than a dozen high value sellables.  </DIV>

"?" spots break your sneak/invis last time I checked. I agree though, we do get fantastic melee abilities however, we shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg for Arrows, when half our skills are bow skills, we are losing out on alot of DPS when we neglect our bow abilities.

I am personally glad we are set up as mostly melee, some bow. But that does not negate the fact that arrows are too costly, and class dps are not in line. You may be happy just to outdamage someone, but I am not if it is not by a significant amount.. A short disclaimer. I say that because rangers serve no purpose other than dps. If we have some more use beyond dps/evac I would not care in the slightest if my tanks come within 20 or even 10 dps of me.That being said, merely beating someone in dps, is not enough. I dont want pallies, berzerkers, bruisers, what have you coming close to me. I certainly cant take 90% of the beating they can, so they should not deal 90% of the damage I can, but seeing as how this was the problem in eq1, I dont think it will change..unles maybe poison get fixed and arrow prices come down, that would help, for a cost. This is not meant to say we suck, I dont believe that, but I do not think we are great either. I am not as far along as you, but I am now nearly 43, I have my fbss/sbd and a pine dagger (working on ssoy) and I am better geared than alot of the folks I group with, and I still dont think we do enough over them to make us truly useful. Personally though, I would rather not have more dps, but more use. Casting pathfind and evac occasionally is quite boring.@Rentis he said he had stationary hide, which is a racial tradition of wood elves (I dont know if all get it) which makes you go invis when you are not moving, presumably, he is implying that havesting those "?" counts as being stationary, and thus triggers it.

Shhhhhhhh!Don't go telling everyone how great rangers actualy are, you might make some of them move over if they found out how fun the Ranger could be <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
