View Full Version : Advice on lvl 8 Personal Trait choice
<DIV>One of my characters just hit level 8 (Wood Elf going for Ranger eventually) and I now have to start choosing, in this instance, a "Personal Trait". Guess that means stuff like STR, AGI, WIS, etc... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, considering I'm a Wood Elf and going to do the Ranger Path, what would be the "best" / "optimum" Trait to pick? STR, AGI? Not too sure right now. If any of you guys know of a web site or something that might give me a run down on which options are "best" for my char, as well as whatever advice I can get, I would be very appreciative. Thanks!!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>it honestly doesn't make a whole lot of difference. Agi is the stat that our power pool is based off of, so lots go with that. However, as a high elf, my str was pretty low so I went with str. But either way, I don't think you can make a "wrong" decision. All stats will help you in one way or another.</DIV>
<DIV>Thanks for the advice thespar. Yeah, that's pretty much the advice I got from most people in-game. Some basically said AGI 1st, STR 2nd then STA 3rd (at least for the wood elf). And since you only get a few of these Trait upgrades (3 or 4 i think) it's probably best to focus on your "main" attribute (AGI) and possibly your seconmost important (STR I was told). Again, thanks for the input!</DIV>

So I pretty much faced the same question at that time for the reasons you mention. I chose to go with Strength, because we get a big boost to AGI as a Wood Elf, but we are also a bit lower on Strength. I figured hitting for a few more points damage would be a bigger benefit than a little more Agility.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> However, when it came time to pick my racial tradition at 18(?), I had to revisit this question. In that case, I decided to go with Agility. Agility affects accuracy, defense, and (for Scouts) power. Getting hit less, hitting more often, and being able to squeeze out one or two more specials is a three-for-one benefit that seemed to outweigh any benefit more Strength, for instance, would have given me. Strength will allow us to hit harder and to carry more inventory, but I think AGI gives the bigger payoff in the long run. Therefore, I went with AGI for my racial tradition and will likely favor that stat when I have other choices.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I would probably choose AGI over STR if I had level 8's choices to do over again, but in the big picture, that one choice is not going to make a huge difference, and part of the reason for these incremental choices is to make each character unique. So I am perfectly happy with my Wood Elf who may be a hair less agile than some, but is, at the same time, a little stronger than some other Wood Elves, and is definitely more agile than your typical, say, Barbarian Paladin.</DIV>
<DIV>Great, thanks for the advice people. I ended up taking AGI, so I'm all set for that now. Now to start the blasted Predator quest <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
