<DIV>hi..i am only lower lv predator atm but i was wondering i see many posts recomending duel wielding but has anyone tried 2 handed weps and trying to front load damage?</DIV> <DIV>example bow openers switch to melle 2 handed with heavy dd posion then snare back to bow when skill timers reset.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>anyone tried this and find it better then duel wield? i just dont care for duel wielding and would rather swing a big spear :smileytongue:</DIV>

<DIV>The shorter (lower difficulty) the combat is, the more comparative advantage 1-handed+Shied, or Two handed will have.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, when you are out fighting things that last 2-3 full minutes (giants/oversize mobs, Yellow con or above, or groups) the combat is too long for you to just keep spamming specials.  This is especially true when you are are Solo because you just don't have enough specials to keep them going full time, because they are mostly positional specials.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The base attack DPS of the dual wield weapons are far superior to 1 or 2 handed, so when your specials run out, or while you are doing non-attack specials, you are losing out on DPS.  Every time you have to wait for a timer, or a group HO chain, you begin to lose DPS agains the big weapons.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Not saying it can't work for you, but I feel that over the longer run you are really losing out.</DIV>

<DIV>I too agree that Duel Wield will out damage 2 handers after long periods of fighting.  And the other advantage I see in duel wielding in that you can equiment 2 poisons. Of course always use a pierce in the primary hand.</DIV>

<DIV>ok i am not saying at all long periods of time...i am saying has anyone tried out 2 handers mixed with bow situation as i used in that example. i do understand the theory of low dps and long battles makeing it greater dmg but if all weapons are supposed to be equal just diferent swing rates it wouldnt matter if it was a two hander or am i thinking about this the wrong way. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>from many games i have played you try to maximise your damage to lessen your downtime.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT color=#ff0000>another thing to think of is missing. You miss once with that big 3 or more second delay weapon and you miss out on a big chunk of damage. With the duals you only miss with one weapon and it is for far less dmg. Say you only hit 50% of the time. Would you like 2 of your 4 big hits to miss or 12 of 24 slightly smaller hits to miss. Im pretty sure if i did some math or you did you would see a big diffrence in dps</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>how is missing with a two hander any different then duel wield weapons...i mean if anything you have double if not more then that 1.5 speed swings twice for a 3 speed thats 6 swings to miss with compared to one.</DIV> <DIV>also since we are agility based and that increases to hit wouldnt we be one if not the best archtype to use two handers?</DIV> <DIV>btw this is all aside from my original has anyone tried them out ect message...</DIV> <DIV>servers are down guys and i am bored :smileytongue:</DIV>

<DIV>Missing:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Missing with a two hander misses big damage, missing with a dual wield misses half of an attack round, and the other round is right around the corner, instead of down the street and around the block.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other Considerations:</DIV> <DIV>Blade flurry, which rolls a chance to proc an extra attack with every round, has more chances to go off with the more often attacks of dual wield.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Poison is the same.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And Finally:</DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#6633ff>There aren't any ranger useable 2HS or 2HB or 2HP weapons, unfortunately.  So it's all a moot point. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#6633ff>Rangers cannot use any 2h weapons.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>Indeed.  You must take your Dual Wielding 125%~ damage with your additional chances to proc special damage and <FONT color=#ff0000>LIKE IT</FONT> :smileytongue:</DIV><p>Message Edited by Ravi on <span class=date_text>12-17-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:25 PM</span>

I quote you because of blade furry this was something strange i noticed when i was playing with my hawk. I attacked a mob then turned off auto attack. I was trying to get my hawk to attack he never did but every time I got hit I swung back with both weapons and hit. I have not yet tried again because servers are down, but I think blade furry means when your succesfuly hit grants a chance of an attack any one wioth info please post</FONT><BR>

<DIV>Well, I know I usually see blade flurry go off on an Open Shot, and I definitely didnt' take a hit...  I bet what you're seeing is Blade flurry procing on a Riposte.  remember, when it's blade flurry you'll see the flash of blue and it'll say, "Your swipe hit so and so" </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh, and to a post by Javabean before my original reply: if you can't figure out why it's better to miss on ONE out of TWO 1.2 delay weapons, than on ONE out of ONE 4.0 delay weapons, I don't know if anyone could explain it <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV><p>Message Edited by blitz on <span class=date_text>12-17-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:39 PM</span>

<DIV><FONT color=#ff0000>I did my best to explain but I'm not quite bored enough to start doing math problems to prove the point maybe if the servers stayed down I will do the math lol.</FONT></DIV>
