Are rangers purely "ranged" class?

This mean that damage on hight lvls could be done ( effectively) only with ranged weapon. Is this true? Could be rabgers near so eefective as assasigns in close fight? <DIV>The icons on the list are deceptive.  Many of those skills may check against your archery skill but they are not Bow shots.   I doubt there will be many Rangers that use ranged-only attacks.  Refresh times on bow skills are long enough to get in a lot of melee attacks between shots.   Skipping melee removes a bunch of your DPS.  Perhaps at a high level and in a good group a Ranger could just fling arrows.   But if I am using that many arrows, I will not be using purchased ones.  I will used summoned and ripped arrows.  Can't afford to spend that much on arrows...my equipment  and spell upgrades would suffer.</DIV>

<DIV>I find it best to use a mixture of moves depending on the target. Am geting some decent high dmg bow moves now and i built them into my combos i do. When your waiting for some of the good melle moves to regen take a few steps back wards and let off a few shots </DIV>

<DIV><FONT size=4>               Makeshift arrows is a skill that u get at lvl 21. It summons ten arrows at app 1 and at adept 1, which I have, I summon 30 arrows at once and they do pretty good dmg. I would assume that when Master skills start being circulated that they will be equal to tier 3+ arrows so, rangers dont have to pay so much.
