Impale reduces piercing damage.... think pierce weapon. Bladeflurry triggers on each hit... think low delay.Skill damage is unrelated to max damage of each weapon... keep thinking low delay.Poisons are probably one of your most potent weapons, use 2 when you dual wield - find them in South Qeynos, at the Herb Jar.Personally, I'm using a steel rapier, and a steel stilletto, both +4agi and +4str. I dig the 'one long weapon, one short weapon' approach, looks groovy, and suits my needs.
<DIV>steel stilettos are nice. Until you get one, carbonite Kris' are good an sell for 20s in QH (last vendor on the left heading towards the bank from the docks). </DIV> <DIV>no stats but decent dam/del</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Valis is (as usual) spot on with this post. Remember to stock up on those poisons, but if you die, don't reapply right away. a lot of groups die more than once in a row, people get rushed and sloppy about shards. DO reapply once you're back in the habit of fighting, of course. </DIV>

Rated 5 for calling me 'spot on (as usual)' lol i love itThanks!
you might want to keep up with slash weapons once in a while too though to keep your skill up, incase you find that ubah slash weapon somewhere. Also we get a slashing debuff at 35 if my list is correct

<DIV> <DIV>Agree!</DIV> <DIV>Its very important to keep both piercing weapon and slashing weapon skills high.</DIV> <DIV>I just looted an axe which is better than steel stilettos, but i can not use it for 2 levels.</DIV> <DIV>However, it is slashing - a skill I have neglected for a long time.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>63/125 slashing. ...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Im off to find some grey mobs with tons of HP to practice slashing. No dice...
<DIV>Yeah, late 20s you will see some uber dual wield axes drop with low delays (feysteel). These are slashing, but for 7-28 dmg, 1.3 delay, +8AGI and +4STR +26 Power (on ONE axe) - I think I can go slashing for a few levels... :smileytongue:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Feysteel Battleaxes are the best and you can use them at 30.</DIV> <DIV>Feysteel Hatchets are decent and you can use them at 33</DIV> <DIV>And don't forget Kregnok's Axe which you can use at 30 as well</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have yet to see a Feysteel dagger-type, but I have seen a Feysteel Rapier.. Call my picky, but the steel rapier actually has a slight (very slight) dps disadvantage against a steel stiletto. When I was shopping around, I remember comparing the two. ((MinDmg + MaxDmg) / 2) / DelayOff the top of my head, the stiletto was something like an 8.54321 while the rapier was an 8.45678.Ok. I just realized I play was too much EQ. I'm going to go check myself into rehab. Excuse me...

LOL - i did the same calculation regarding these two, plus some other weapons... the general trend is that the slower and more powerful weapons, tend on the average, to have a higher DPS. Offsetting this are the procs from bladeflurry and poisons which trigger more, the quicker you hit. Tis a matter of preference and style really, although I'd be curious to see some parsings. Having one long blade and a short one just looks great IMHO <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Sometimes it is a higher damage/slower weapon with a slight numeric advantage. Sometimes it is the lower dmage/faster weapon, and more often than not, it is one of the intermediates (medium damage/medium delay). You have to take into account as well that as your skills and stats change, the weapon damage changes. So there is no absolute on which will have the slight numeric advantage.</P> <P>I prefer the faster weapons because I would rather hit more often than hit harder because there is more of a chance to trigger bladefurry or poisons that way.</P> <P>In the overall, it is probably mostly a matter of style. I, too, prefer one long blade and one short blade if I can get them with similar stats. I just feel it is more realistic to see someone holding a main weapon and a shorter defensive blade unless both weapons are smaller, then they will tend to be equal size. Therefore, when I can find weapons with matched stats, I try to get one long blade and one short blade; if not, I carry two of the preferred weapon.</P>

Equip your favorite piercing weapon in your primary hand and your favorite slashing weapon (both dual wield of course) in your off-hand. For day-to-day situations, this will not make that big of a difference in your damage output, and your damage skills for both types of weapons will remain equal.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Actually, I carry two dual wield piercing weapons and two dual wield slashing weapons at all times. For normal activities, I equip one of each as mentioned above to keep my skills equal, plus having one of each type equipped, I am less concerned about running into a creature with resists to one damage type since I am doing both damage types. For more dangerous situations and for the most compatibility with our skills (i.e., for the highest chance for high damage output), I equip both hands with my piercing weapons. But for situations where the creature may have high piercing resists or piercing immunities, I can also equip both hands with my slashing weapons. This gives me the greatest flexibility and assures that I can always damage my target unless it is immune to both damage types.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Currently, I carry two Pristine Carbonite Rapiers (piercing) and two Spatha of Battle (slashing) (if I remember the name right). As soon as I can find two Steel Rapiers with higher stats than my Carbonite versions, I will swap them out. I normally run around with one of the Rapiers in my primary slot and one of the Spathas in my secondary.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Sotaudi on <span class=date_text>12-15-2004</span> <span class=time_text>04:49 PM</span>
on the note of piercing resistant/imune mobs you might want to carry a stack of hunting arrows too as they do slash damage and make our bow combat arts do slash instead of pierce too
<DIV>getting back to Safe Fall etc, I read a post somewhere ( I believe it was a Zadkiel monk interview with Moorgard) Where it was stated that safefall was not implemented, but should be in the first major patch after the bugfix patches slow down (i.e., when our armor turns green).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So that's fun, since we seem to have a pretty nice cap in this. I don't go to SH much anymore, but I bet that spiral staircase down to ToV will be much easier with safe fall <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, great posts on weapons guys. It's nice to see the community giving back such awesome info now that we've gotten to the point of being able to disseminate it easily <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
<DIV>Totally agreed. Its nice to see the pred/Ranger community be as positive and helpfull as its been.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Compared to other areas on these forums, and the forums of other games, its been great.</DIV>
