Im trying to understand the consepts here. Do you become a fletcher after woodworker? Or is a class of its own? I can not find any good info about this. I just started my tradeskill career, and right now I dont know what I am doing. I think I got the part that I need to become a level 9 artisan and then do a quest to reach level 10 in order to chose a subclass. HOWEVER... what shall I chose when level 10? I am of course looking to make arrows and bows for my higher level days.A neat guide written by a Ranger who have been there would be nice <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Oh yeah I know that is asking too much. But some help would be great, just to send me in the right direction.

<DIV>In EQ2, "Woodworker" = "Traditional Fletcher".  Of the three Craftsman classes, Provisioner makes the food and drink, Carpenter makes the furniture and strongboxes, and Woodworker makes the bows and arrows among other things.  So, for your level 10  certification, you want to choose Craftsman, and for your level 20 certification, you want to choose Woodworker.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, be warned... crafting in EQ2 is for the most part dysfunctional at the moment.  You can buy 99 Tin Arrows from a vendor for 1s98c, but if you try to craft Tin Arrows it will take you a good 15 minutes to make all of the parts you need, they will cost you far more than a stack of arrows from a vendor, and you will only get about 12 arrows out of a Pristine combine.  Higher level arrows undoubtedly cost much more, and are much more tedious to craft.  Bows aren't much different.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My advice would be to get your level 10 certification in Craftsman, and then go adventuring for a while, until they get the artisan classes worked out a little more.</DIV>

I agree with what was said above. The amount of time/effort/coin involved in crafting some of the higher end items just isn't worth it right now. It's much simpler to just purchase arrows from a vendor. For the most part, I use iron hunting arrows. I think a complete stack of 99 is around 5s. It would cost almost 4x that much if you made them yourself.I too have a question about this, preferrably for someone who has gone the craftsman/woodworking route or is well on their way...From what little knowledge I have of the crafting in this game, there seems to be a progression in materials related to skill level. You start out being able to craft with tin and/or elm, advance to iron/maple and so on. I've noticed that arrow tips can be crafted separately from the wooden shafts. As a woodworker, will we have the ability to make complete arrows? Or will I need to rely on a metalworker to craft my tips?

<DIV>Yep, being able to craft arrowheads at level 10 is a known and acceptable bug that was said will eventually get fixed.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Eventually (what is referred to as tier3, carbonite, level 20+) you will need to rely on others for those pieces and obtain them by buying or trading for stuff that you can make and they need.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please keep in mind that the level 21 ability, Makeshift arrows, will give you carbonite arrows every ten minutes.  Apprentice2 will give you 15 at every ten minutes.  While it may not sound like alot, I have bound my Left Arrow (turn left) key to also cast makeshift arrows when its available.  When you are not adventuring it can add up.  I regularly have 10 stacks of arrows in my bags.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Rip combat ability will give you the next tier arrows, feyiron I think.  I think you get this at level 30, but i'm not sure off the top of my head.  i imagine it works similarly to Makeshift Arrows but you need to use it on a mob.  I wonder if you can use it on gray mob? hmmmm...</DIV>

<DIV>Interesting information on Makeshift arrow. When I first heard about it and read the description it seemed to indicate the quality of the materials would dictate the type of arrows yielded. But now it seems to require no input materials and always yields Carbonite? And that is regardless of Ranger level or the skill level (master1 still yields carbonite)?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And if Rip yields a decent quantity of quality arrows, then woodworking/fletching really is in the tank, yes?</DIV>

<DIV>Ummm...when you go into options there is a screen to find Primariy Secondary and Tertiary hotbutton bars.  I found the one that matches up to my Makeshift Arrows and bound it to Left.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One word of caution.  If you bind this key and you are Sneaking through the most dangerous dungeon where you will die instantly if sneak breaks....AND the makeshift arrows goes off...it will break sneak and you will die.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So sometimes I move the Makeshift arrows to an empty slot so that it doesn't go off.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for the other question, the quality of the arrows does not go up with upgrades, only the quantity summoned.</DIV>

One question, Iwhen I started, my dw rate of attack seemed really really fast, but in the last 4 days or so , it seems to have slowed. I had recenlty upgraded by Hnters Instinct to Adept 1 ( Im lvl 21). Anyone else notice a potential nerf in our melee duel wield attack speed, ignoring the obvious weapon speed differences?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I haven't noticed it myself personally, but i did overhear something about a melee nerf that happened.  I don't know myself for sure.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When I'm fighting, I don't really concentrate on my normal melee attacks as I'm usually working my combos pretty hard.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>other topic...I spent long and hard thinking about Woodworker vs. Carpenter.  I finally chose Carpenter last night after I got a bow for free from a a guildie woodworker.  I realized I don't need to make the bows myself.  I can summon my arrows.  I don't REALLY need to be a  WW as a ranger.  So after some hunnies said they like my beds and I was once again reorganizing my limited bank space (full of maple strongboxes), I decided to go Carpenter.</DIV>
