<DIV>I just don't understand the new powers for EQ2. I have ones that I got in the begining as a scott and now that I am a ranger of lev 23 i still use them. I have not gotten any powers that I think would replace them. for example quick strike ... it is grey and I have not yet gotten a new power to replace it like many of my War buddies. soooo at this point I have 4 trays up 1 for my melee, 1 for my stealth, 1 for my ranged and 1 for my buffs. How are some of you handleing this prob? If any of you happen to know or have a list of what power replace what please post <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Good Hunting,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Driz ShadowVail</DIV> <DIV>23' ranger and growing </DIV>
well... pierce for example pretty much replaces quickstrike while hunt replaces stealth... shadowlunge ought to replace shadowblade although i can see the use of both with stalk/shroudes strike to place you in stealth in midcombat... point is quickstrike wont grow stronger then those 20some dmg it is doing due to being grey while pierce should still grow in power for you. and those 20some points wont make any difference on higher lvl mobs while your other combat arts are doing way more damage.<p>Message Edited by Azaar on <span class=date_text>12-10-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:26 PM</span>

<DIV>As the other poster mentioned, Pierce is the upgrade to Quickstrike as Hunt is to Sneak. Corner is basically the upgrade to Dirty Tricks. I have not got Shadow Lunge yet, but as the previous poster mentioned, it is basically the upgrade to Shadow Blade, which itself was an upgrade to Ambush. To that list you could add Stalk as a combined upgrade to Hunt/Sneak and Evade since it moves you to stealth like Hunt and Sneak but also reduceds Hate, like Evade. In that same light, you could consider Shrouded Strike as an upgrade to Sneak Attack combined with a move to stealth.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That is a lot of upgrades, really.</DIV>
<DIV>Quickstrike might be an upgrade to pierce, but considering its one of only four melee damage specials I can use from the front, I have continued to use it. Also, shadow blade isnt really an upgrade to ambush. Ambush is a lower damage attack with a faster recast, while shadow blade is high damage with slow recast. There is a special named shadowflame (or something similar) that is a better replacement for ambush. I also wouldn't consider stalk as an upgrade for hunt. Stalk can only be used in combat, while hunt doesnt require combat. Hunt is an upgrade for sneak though. I noticed that even with adept I sneak and app I hunt, hunt did a better job at letting me sneak around hostile mobs. I still use evade also since you cant always get a mob off you with one try and it does not use the same timer as stalk. I also still use sneak attack and shrouded attack because they do not use the same timer and more attacks is better as far as I'm concerned. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>About the only things I have taken off my hotkey bar at this point (level 25) are ambush, dirty tricks, and shadow blade. And I only took off ambush/shadow blade because I only use a few stealth attacks in a fight. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Shrouded strike and shadowflame are one of the best combo's for a steath attack since they both have almost exactly the same timer and you get two hits in. </DIV>
<DIV>You can tell swhen you get a spell upgraded.. Cuz when you use 1 BOTH grey out</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Shadowblade --- > Shadowlunge</DIV> <DIV>Open Shot ---- > Flame Shot</DIV> <DIV>Ensnare ----- > Impede</DIV> <DIV>Stalk ---- > Shadow</DIV> <DIV>Bleed --- > Leaping Cut </DIV> <DIV>Dirty Tricks ---- > Corner</DIV> <DIV>Hunters Instinct --- > Foresters Insight</DIV> <DIV>Reconoiter --- > Natural Instinct</DIV> <DIV>Impail -----> Lightning Strike or Lunging Thrust (cant remember)</DIV> <DIV>Pierce ---- > lunging thrust or lightning Strike (Cant remember)</DIV> <DIV>Back Shot ----> Sniping Shot</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Those are the ones from memory anyhow.. But when you get the upgrade and use it the OLD Skill Greys out too so you can only use one of them really..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As for quick strike im in my 30's now and i still use it.. Great for completing HO's when low on Power..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Rip KINDA replaces Makeshift Arrows.. If you can be bothered running round RIPing Greys to build up a nice stock of FEYSTEEL ARROWS.. (only get 1 arrow a time at adept 1) but they are FAR superior to Makeshift Carbonite Arrows.. I spent a day killing Grey ^^ mobs as they cant even land a hit on you just RIP ing arrows out building up a stock of about 400.. oh they sell to the shop 2 for 33 Copper each...</DIV><p>Message Edited by Neecha on <span class=date_text>12-14-2004</span> <span class=time_text>02:57 AM</span>
<DIV>At 23 you should have gotten Corner. That is the first one that I received that directly replaced an earlier skill (IE used the same regen timer).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The others are "replacements" in that they do the same thing, only better. You will soon stop using the old ones, either because there is just not enough time during a fight, or because your hot bars are full.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So even though you may still technically be able to use them both, and may for a little while, they are basically direct replacements.</DIV>
<DIV>I have heard that you can have dirty tricks and corner applied at the same time, even though they use the same timer. If you use one, wait for the timer to reset, then use the other, you can have both applied at the same time. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Is there any real benefit to stacking them or is it just both icons showing up even though one is overwriting the other?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On some mobs it seems that every point of defense you can debuff, the better off you are. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
