<DIV>I tried it at 18 like 2 different times, I couldnt get past the orange con knolls at the bottom of the stairs with out them seeing me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Cheers, </DIV>
<DIV>easiest thing in the world after you get hunt. Absolutely nothing to it after 19 when you can get past the orange guards in the ground level</DIV>

At 18, guards all conned red and could see through hunt. At 19, all conned white and couldn't see me. The negotiator was a blue con, with a blue con helper. Because of the two blues and a bad string of luck with my HOs, I barely made it, but make it I did.I was disappointed that it was little more than a redux of the predator mission. The building was bland and unfurnished inside, lifeless except for the guards themselves and a few flowerpots upstairs. I had hoped for something a little more...inspired?

<DIV><FONT color=#33cc00>I plan on doing this tonight at level 19. Will you get the title Ranger then or when you turn 20?</FONT></DIV>

When you turn 20. You do, however, get one sweet bow for completing the quest!
<DIV>o ya ?? wot bow do u get ?? </DIV>

I'm not in-game at the moment, so I can't look it up. It's got the same stats as this bone short bow I've got, but the damage scales way up at 24th level. It's got 27 meter range, 4.5 delay, damage max is something like 45ish for now(same as my current bow), but scales up to around 75ish! Not too shabby. Cons orange to me at 19.

<DIV>?? The bow you get sux. The Willow Wood Bow Of Service is much better...and the quest is harder LOL. funny. check my eq2players for the stats.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By the way...Why is the Willow Wood Bow of Service better then the Ranger Quest bow? Makes no sence...one would think the "best" weapons would be almost class specific. Prolly just an oversight I suppose.</DIV>

Is the Willow Wood Bow of Service one of the choices you get for the Balance of Life quest? I took a blade from that one. From what I remember the bow was good, but didn't seem that much better than what I had, especially considering how little I use it at this point. What are the stats on it?I don't know how the two weapons compare, but 75dmg, 4.5dly hardly "sux", imho. I wish the range on it were longer, but otherwise it's a very nice bow.<p>Message Edited by Arduval on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>01:12 PM</span>
<DIV>Yeah, I took the bow too. Its basically the same stats with a point or two more damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I went trough at 18 with App2 Hunt. None of the guards were aggro. </DIV> <DIV>Two mobs were white, and not much trouble.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I agree that building and quest was bland.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Didn't even have to do anything with that Bloodsabre Curriour</DIV>

Dont forget the WWBOS also has 10 health 12 power, which help me decide. I hed Gregors old bow, ...its like delay was cut in half, everything else was doubled, and Health and power were a big boost.ps....doing this quest tonight.<p>Message Edited by Rolarin on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>06:12 PM</span>

The Bow is Ok, at best, I quickly replaced it. The quest is cake if you have Hunt ap3, and killing the two mobs needed in the basement is cake. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>The bow you get for compleating the ranger quest was a huge dessapointment to me.</DIV> <DIV>Even tho it had lesser stats i kept using old gregs bow. This was alone due to the range 37 compaired to 27 on the ranger quest bow.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Sure the quest was easy (when you have walkthru info) and the reward really shows what they think of the quest (too easy).</DIV> <DIV>I really really hope other classes get better weapons then we do as reward. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now i bought a player made bow for 1G witch is alot better and THE RANGER!! bow is now long deleted... Suckky for a hallmark item to get obsolete so fast, and im only lvl 21.</DIV>

Did research ahead of time and found suggestions that Hunt and Sneak stack, so I ran them both and got by everything undetected. Even wandered in and out of the primary target's room a couple of times before attacking. Had no problem with stealth at all.</P> <P>Also, it is hard to tell from the way you worded it, but I hope you are saying that the two blues were tough individual battles and not that you had to take them both on at once. </FONT>For those who have not done the quest, in the basement, once you get past the guards you are supposed to sneak by, there is a dark elf negotiator you have to take out. She is in a room by herself. However, there is a Gnoll negotiator who patrols the hallway and goes in and out of her room on his patrol. While it is probably possible to kill the Dark Elf negotiator while the Gnoll negotiator is out on his hallway portion of the patrol, there is no need to do this.</FONT></P> <P>The room outside the Dark Elf's room is out of sight of the guards down the hall, as well as being out of sight of the Dark Elf. It is easy enough to ambush the Gnoll negotiator in this outer room so that you can take out the Dark Elf unopposed. Simply wait for him to come out of her room, jump him and kill him. Restealth and recover, then move into her room and take her out. Restealth and recover, then make your way back out.</P> <P>Of course, being blue cons, the battles are tough, but taken individually, I beat them both rather easily.</P>
<DIV>The Gnoll actually agged on me about half way through killing the dark elf, so I did not take them both on purpose. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It was close even still.</DIV>

I am sorry that happened to you. Yeah. I figured it was not intentional. No doubt as you did, I debated whether I could kill the Elf before the Gnoll got back and whether killing the Gnoll would cause me more problems than trying to do it without killing him (that is, will killing the Gnoll attract attention or could it cause quest failure?). In the end, I decided that even if I could kill the Elf before the Gnoll got back, the timing would be such that I would more likely than not find myself having to fight both of them as you did. That mean that I would have had to kill him anyway. So I opted to ambush him out of sight in the outer room then I could face the Elf without much fear of interruption. It worked out, except that the quest giver says something about being better had it been done it more discretely, but he adds that that is the way it goes. As you found out, killing the Gnoll did not interfere with completing the quest. But I figure from that remark that it may have been possible to kill the Elf without killing the Gnoll.</P> <P>Well, anyway, I am glad it worked out for you. I know that facing two blues made it touch and go for you, but that also brings with it a sense of accomplishment, so grats on the mission and grats on taking them out at the same time.</P>

<DIV>Same here, got jumped by the gnoll half way through. I had good fortune with my HO's though and cycled them to Ringing Blow when I had to. I had about a third of my health left by the time I finished them off. Easy quest.</DIV>
