<DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At lvl 24, Shadow Lunge ability cons orange to you, and you aren't able to use that skill for full effect yet. While Shadow Blade is a green con ability, you can use it to full effect. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In EQ1, the new spell might hit harder, but you'd fizzle a lot of mana to get one shot off, while the old spell hit all the time with less mana used. It took a couple levels for the newer spell to actually become reliably more powerful. In EQ2, I presume that you have to grow into your new abilities.</DIV>
<DIV>Don't give me this "grow into" crap - with all respect to you.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Whats the point in giving us a skill that isn't worth using for 2 levels? Whats the point in giving us a skill that is going to be sitting in my Combat Arts book instead of on my macro bar because it's predecessor performs better still. A lot of these new skills are upgrades. I could see if it gave me a new ability, something I couldn't do before. But upgrades - it's pointless to give it to me if the other still performs better.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now maybe this is balance... who knows? Maybe they are attempting to stem abuse of balance a year from now when people start new characters and immediately upgrade to <EM>Master </EM>everything. If that's the case... I suppose I digress. Otherwise, it's pointless.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>But when you first got Shadowlunge did it do more damage than Shadowblade? That is my whole argument - I know mine doesn't yet. This spills over into other sublclasses as well. I know healers, for instance, do not recieve any additional HoT from their healing upgrades for quite a few levels after they receive it. It seems pointless to me that they would balance it this way. I men give an upgrade... that doesn't make you any better at your job...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No I'm not angry about this, I just see that "Grow into" excuse a lot and I think it's crap when you consider that the upgrades are crappier than the predecessor at the start.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Shadowlunge should equal Shadowblade Master as soon as a player gets it - or at least Adept. IMO. Balance the mobs accordingly, but don't nerf the player.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Like I said earlier though, I think this is for balance down the road when Master scrolls are readily available.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by Ravi on <span class=date_text>12-03-2004</span> <span class=time_text>04:56 AM</span>
<DIV>26 and they are just about even now, not quite though</DIV>
<DIV>I think Shadowblade is either a bit overpowered or the other abilities are a bit underpowered; I was so happy when I got Shadowflame, only to find that I still use Shadowblade whenever I can...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Heck, Shadowblade even does more than my Backshot, and the cooldown are the same!</DIV>

<DIV>I just hit 24 but dont have Shadow lung. I was kinda upset actually that it was an upgrade i was thinking...well assassin get a 500--750 dmg attack ok thats fine at least we get 2 250ish attack and a 300-350ish attack. i guess it all evens out.....Just was hoping that since we had to deal with bow problems and assassin really dont, that bows would be the hard hitters. Anyone higher up have infon on some higher dmg bow attacks? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>P.S. On a side note....i REALLY wish weapons had some say in how hard your skills hit and even on how fast they recyle. like put a multiplier on the delay of the weapon and weapon base dmg or whatever...but thats just me. hehe I find it kind of dumb that a well equiped person can do same dmg as a person who is still using lvl 1 gear....Seems to me like that made the importance of sages even more imporant then myself (weaponsmith) /sigh oh well.</DIV>
<DIV>I have backshot and Shadowblade on Adept I, and Shadowflame app3.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My shadowblade high hit is 333, and backshot about 280...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Shadowflame high hit was 128 or something, or well. At least it has a short cooldown, but it drains so much power its dmg/power drain ratio is totally out of proportion compared to Shadowblade.</DIV>
<DIV>I hope the people mentioning shadowflame are not getting confused with shadowlunge. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Blade and Lunge are on same wait timer</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Flame is on a different timer</DIV>

Ya Shadowblade does hit a bit higher until shadowlunge is grown into a bit, but at the same time shadowblade 's low end is still a lot lower than shadowlunge. Overall average hits with lunge are a lot higher than with blade. I'm lvl 34 and I can tell you, lunge doesn't take long at all to grow into. Lunge is definately worth using because it's low end is much more reliable.
<DIV>At lev 26..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Makeshift Arrows ( Adept 1 ) and Hidden shot ( App2 ) About 150 damage</DIV> <DIV> <DIV>Makeshift Arrows ( Adept 1 ) and Bck Shot ( Adept 1 ) About 150 damage</DIV> <DIV>Shrouded Strike ( App3 ) about 100-150 damage then Flamestrike (Adept 1) about 150 Damage </DIV> <DIV>Shadow blade (Adept 1) about 300 +</DIV> <DIV>Shadow Lunge (App2) about 200 +</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>BUT i have capped my skill with Shadow Blade and have some way to go on Shadow Lunge and shadow lunge originally when i got it only did about 100-120, it gets better the more i use it..</DIV></DIV>

<P>its kinda pointless to compare Shadow Lunge or Shadow Blade to Shadowflame. Shadowflame has a 9 sec cooldown and its usually used in conjunction w/ Shrouded Strike. As you level more, Shadow Blade is pretty useless, you do have to upgrade Shadow Lunge to adept 2 but its doing around 350 to 400 damage for me now (level 32 rng). Also, backshot damage does go up, when you hit the later 20's I'd advise upgrading to Feyiron arrows, the ones you get from using Rip. It pretty much doubles the damage you do from the makeshift carbonite.</FONT></P>
