<DIV>There's a second bowyer in Eldar Grove, not In Range, but across the grove from there, that sells them for about 28-29 s per bow. They astually used to show up on the map as a bow shop, now just show up as merchant. Hope this helps!</DIV>

<DIV>I looted my longbow off of the Basalt Watcher in the Forest Ruins and its a very good longbow.</DIV>
<DIV>how do you get that guy to spawn? (i.e., be able to be killed)</DIV>

<DIV>I don't think there's any specific way to make the Watcher wake up. My group and I just fought the various creatures in the Castle in front of the Basalt Watcher until we looked up and saw that his name was glowing and he was Attackable. So we attacked him. Then..... 15 minutes after we killed him, he spawned again and we attacked him again. We did this about 8 times and looted two bows, three bucklers a set of bracers and some other junk.</DIV>

<DIV>The Merchant that sells Ashwood Bows is in the Elddar Grove inside the broker building. She's standing right next to the broker. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've seen the Basalt Watcher alive, slaughtering all the travelers it sees. Not sure how it awakened though. I'll have to find more info on that.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by PunchingMonkey on <span class=date_text>12-12-2004</span> <span class=time_text>07:07 AM</span>

<DIV>I just don't see how it slaughters people. I was only in a group of 3 who were like all level 13 or 14. The Basalt Watcher is not that scary at all.</DIV>
<DIV>Rather than buying an ashwood bow from a merchant, I suggest buying a Pristine Ashwood bow from a woodworker. Better stats and usually reasonable priced at around 80s.</DIV>

<DIV>Ashwood bows IMO, pale in comparison to the Level 20 Quest reward for the ranger. It does a little more damage, but it is also twice as slow. </DIV>
<DIV>Comparing a Longbow (pristine ashwood) to a shortbow (the level 20 quest bow) is silly. They are purely situational. I carry a Short bow and Long bow on me at all times and switch out fairly often. I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure that the Pristine Ashwood SHORT Bow is better than our level 20 quest bow and same delay.</DIV>

<DIV>yes, the pristine crafted ashwood short bow is better than the lvl 20 class bow we got. That bow had conned blue to me while the pristine crafted is now conning yellow to me at this point and I am a lvl 26 ranger. The speed is the same, but the stats are much better on it.</DIV><p>Message Edited by Lotholos on <span class=date_text>12-13-2004</span> <span class=time_text>11:30 AM</span>

I prefer longbows for pulling in open areas. I can get more shots off because of the distance.

<DIV>What lvl woodwork do you need to be in order to make these? I'd be interested in buying some but I doubt any Runnyeye woodworkers happend to brush buy this forum <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
<DIV>Ashwood Short Bow is level 23 woodworker...the Long Bow is level 25....umm...give or take a level or two. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If you are in the level 24/25 range, you can also use the next tier of Bows...forget what they are called...but they are made by 30+ woodworkers. Might be Fir I think....</DIV>

fir is a rare tier 3 material. Currently it's bugged, so you cant make it into lumber- therefore fir longbows dont exist (maybe dropped ones, but no crafted ones)
