<DIV>Hi</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I don't mind using a bow, it's not easy but just love the genre.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>One thing that does come to mind, say you attack a mob or any critter with a bow, I don't mind them coming towards me, they obviously got to defend themselves.</DIV> <DIV>what does bother me is that all the critters do this at the same speed. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I mean, let's say a wolf run towards you it ought to be fast, but these big rock thingies, or a slow bear. It doesn't seem like there is a property for this, since all critters have the same speed once attacked. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as this goes.... everything in the game strives for realism, I don't expect bears to actually go on their hind legs (how they attack in real life) but speed is a very basic concept in gaming, all units usually have their unique speed which creates, prefered targets and allows for developing skills at lower levels etc.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It does serve a purpose.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyone got opinion on this ?</DIV>
I got lots of opinions on this and they are all negative <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />For instance, if I use a bow to attack a fish in a lake, I don't expect the fish to jump out of the water and swim through the air, run up the hill and then proceed to chase me as fast as I can run away from the water !And if I attack a land animal such as a wolf I don't expect it to run into the lake after me (bear maybe, wolf no)The speed of mobs is definately crazy. The slowest animal suddenly turns into a cheetah at the mearest hint of damage. For example, a slow old crab that moves about 1 mile an hour can suddenly run as fast as a wolf once I've attacked it.I've gotten used to this now, but it could do with some realism being added.

i think its a small price to pay to avoid things like quad kiting wizards and druids especially in EQ1

unfortunately sometimes the good of realism has to be slightly put aside for the good of fair playkiting is a big problem in almost all rpgs to date.

<DIV>I don't own a TV :smileyindifferent:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've never liked the idea of fighting with a bow / crossbow untill I did some archery in real life , not professional but just did some target practise. It was amazing to be honest. There's alot of skill to it and from there on I couldn't play a class without it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I just would have expected a bear or some big thing to be a bit slow, good example the crab, mind you, you will only tickle a crab with a bow in rl. Like them rock thingies, how would you kill something of rock. I'd say only magic. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>To me certain immunities/speeds etc. would encourage group forming or more solo'ing I guess.</DIV>
