<DIV>i just hit 20 and got my hawk only to find out it does nothing but get noobs to notice you. yes it does look cool but its utterly [Removed for Content] that it doesnt attack even when u are getting attacked. unless you have lots of money to blow i wouldnt buy this. hopefully the devs decide to make our pet attack.</DIV>

<DIV>Nope, this was meant to be pure fluff. Like the dragon the CE buyers got. I'm gonna buy mine though. My toon is a Halfling and I'm interested to see if it's bigger than I am. :smileytongue:</DIV>

every now and again he'll take a hit for you when you're running. not totally worthless if he saves you some debt.

<DIV>Every class special at 20 is for looks guys.....</DIV>
<DIV>I get my hawk to tank when im soloing, doesnt always work but you can stand behind your hawk, target mob and hit stalk mob charges you cant see you hits hawk usually gives you chance to get a couple of good hits of b4 drawing agro.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hawk tanks quite well 2.. when you can get the agro onto it..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But really its just eye candy would rather have been able to summon a horse like paladins can... something useful.. </DIV>

<DIV>yes where do we get the hawk again ive neglected to pick it up. Also will it require concentration to deploy... not that it matters considering we can only use Blade Furry at my lvl (22) that takes any concetration.</DIV>

<DIV>Horses for SK's and Pally's don't give a speed bonus. I , as a Woodelf Ranger, can outrun them with Pathfinding.</DIV>

<DIV>I cant seem to find the merchant that sales them</DIV>
<DIV>Hmm, a hawk. didn't realize we got one. I guess that's pretty cool, although it would be nice for it to do something other than sitting/flying pretty <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
<DIV>You buy the Hawk from a merchant in Elddar Grove. Forget his name but he's a Froglok, and is near the opening in the wall... he's in a circle with a few other merchants also.</DIV>
<DIV>actually that kinda sux that hawk doesnt do anything .. neithe does the rat that assasins get .. o and btw my lvl 21 pally's horse is sprint speed .. and so is the sk version .. if anyone wants to see /tell me ... steamfront server</DIV>

My hawk has waded into battle a couple of times, he even pulled a lion patriach off me once. It doesn't happen often but it does occasionally. The most interesting one was when he attacked a pureille hawk, they were flying all over the place. Before we feel too sorry about our hawk that follows us around, ask a Dirge to show you his level 20 fluff spell. A guildmate picked his up last night, basically it causes the target player to look at the ground and shuffle his feet.

<DIV>You are wrong; the horses for Paladin DOES give speed bonus. I didn't believe it, so I asked a Paladin to race me, and he ran faster.... and I had Pathfinding on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Which was unfair, IMO, given that everyone elses' level 20 goody doesn't do jack.</DIV>
<DIV>I don't think it's unfair, half of being a knight is having a horse, and horses are usually faster than people. I do think by end game our pathfinding should be faster than all but the fastest horses, but I doubt that will be the case. I'd like to see some way to quantify the speed increase given by pathfinding at any given level. (Speedometer in the lower right? <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />)</DIV>
<DIV>told ya horses are faster .. /wink /wink </DIV>
aye, wich would be most wierd ? the fact that you with pathfinding is as fast as a horse... or.. the fact that the horse is so **mods 4 teh win!!1!** slow he get's run out by a person ? <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />of cource the horse is faster <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />as for our hawk, i like it, i sure hope to god this doesnt become a "everyone have thier pet to tank for them so they dont have to group with anyone else in the game cus i cant take damage while i have my pet tanking for me" kind of game <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> that would be boring.
hawk wouldn't be bad if it had a buff like familiars for wizards in EQ. i would rather get a horse equal to the knights since it goes better for roleplaying. definately brown with something cool to make it nature like.
Troz said "hawk wouldn't be bad if it had a buff like familiars for wizards in EQ. i would rather get a horse equal to the knights since it goes better for roleplaying. definately brown with something cool to make it nature like." I agree fully with him on this matter, if the devs would look into it. Maybe helping our Archery ability perhaps, giving a higher percentage to hit, or something of that nature.. Even cooler would be the ability to use the hawk to scout, sort of the like Eye of Zomm(sp) spell from EQ1 that Bards had with there Kunark helm, pretty sure wizards could cast it all(sorry I am a little rusty, haven't played EQ1 since PoP), etc. That would make perfect sense, considering rangers had Bind Sight in EQ1 also. Devs, please read this and think about it. It would add alot more flare to this class, since when I think scout, I think Ranger, it would add alot of pizzaz to the class, and more insentive to buy the spell. I currently use my hawk for RP, but having some use besides dying and holding aggro so I could run would be swell.Thank You.*Edit* Maybe we could start a petition or make a poll for these ideas, considering enough people whined about the armor, and I read its getting changed next patch. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><p>Message Edited by Rents on <span class=date_text>12-04-2004</span> <span class=time_text>09:44 PM</span>
<DIV>The thing is, EVERY other class' fluff stuff at level 20 does NOTHING. And I don't really believe horses run faster then pathfinding btw, I was running beside one once and we ran pretty much at the same speed, so I have yet to see that.</DIV> <DIV>You won't see them adding ANY bonus for the hawk or any other level 20 fluff stuff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And I'm not surprised if using the hawk pet to tank for you is considered an exploit, I managed to do it once by accident. But I don't use it myself.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I like the hawk, but I would rather see it being a little smaller maybe, and seeing it sircle around us. And maybe when we stop running/walking/fighting or whatever, it would sit down on our shoulder. That would be cool.</DIV> <DIV>Cause how it is now it feels too much like just another kind of pet, when it should only be fluff. Remove that name above it's head etc. Make it more static, rather then a summoner pet i.e.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That would remove the problem where it can tank for you aswell I believe, if they made it more of a static thing, tied to our character.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And when the "spell" is casted, instead of it appearring just like that, it could come down from the sky from far away.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>This would IMHO spice up this fluff a bit and also remove the problem they might already have with it. Bug which makes it able to tank sometimes</DIV>

<DIV>If you check the Prima guide, you will find that the spell to call the hawk is an "entertainment" spell, and is designated with an (E) to show this. Not everything in the game has to make us more ubber. Sometimes, it is okay just to add things to add to the flavor of the game, so everything does not have to have a purpose beyond that. The hawk is just that, ambiance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>That said, it has been stated in other threads, and reiterated here, that the hawk actually can draw aggro. One person indicated actually taking steps to do this. I do not whether that would be considered an exploit (i.e., using game mechanics to get it to do things that it was never intended to do), but I can say that, without doing anything intentionally at all, the hawk will draw aggro at times, saving your behind.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have, on several occasions, been jumped by something unexpectedly, such as when I was fighting something else, had to break the encounter and run for my life. Then, after running for a time, looked back and found that the bad guy had turned his attention to my hawk. In one case, the interloper into my fight was Advisor Pandras, and, had my hawk not taken the aggro when he did, one more hit would have killed me.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So, for an entertainment spell, I have to say that the hawk is far from useless, but even if that were not the case, it is still just intended to be an entertainment spell, and you always have the choice to not buy or not use it.</DIV>
