<DIV>I have chosen Dark Elf for my Ranger. The starting stats are: 13 Strength, 23 Agility, 15 Stamina, 26 Intelligence, and 23 Wisdom. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At level 8 as a Scout, it started asking me to choose a stat to increase (traits, I believe). And I understand that you get this opportunity at various times as you level.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Which stats should I put the points into for a Dark Elf Ranger? Should I just focus on Agility?</DIV>

I am sure you could argue the need for any stat. Since you will probably be maxed eventually in melee attributes, why not wis for magic resist?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The gain from lvl 8 trait is not so powerful that you can't make it up with equipment, anyway.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>I took Agi, and then took the dmg mitigation trait next. It is working quite well for me because I love to pull and this really helps me to get those yellow++ mobs back to camps. FYI quick tip for those rangers out there who may be asked to pull, right before you agro the mob, pop Survival Instincts. I swear by that skill, it has saved me so many times now. Infact I use it for tanking, the decrease in attack speed is barely noticeable with 1.2s spd weapons and it boosts my defense abilities alot. I was tanking yellow++ centuars yesterday using this method... the guardian in group had some pretty low end gear on.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Its all a matter of playstyle, who do you want to be as a ranger. I consider myself a survivalist, I use the ranger abilities given to me to deal the most dmg I can, but in the blink of an eye I can turn the tides if the tank were to drop by giving the healer some more time to get power. I haven't met a yellow++ yet i cannot stand up to with survival instincts up for atleast time enough to finish the mob off. That may change later i know not, but I am having alot of fun now.</DIV>
<DIV>I went strength. Reason for me was I am a Wood Elf with the highest agility of any class - but my Strength is pitiful... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I took Wind Warrior on my next trait to help me solo. It increases avoidance.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I went agility al the way as Ranger Damage output is calculated on agility and not str like warriors our bow damage is calculated from our Agility as is our melee damage.. So i went for Agility More damage / nmore evades.. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </DIV>

i took stamina, or the equivalent, agi should be easy to come by on higher lvl armor, and you can never have to many hp

<DIV>I went with stamnina because i figured with my gear and self buff it was high enough atm and the few extra hit points might make the difference between life and death when i get agro.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Decsimus</DIV> <DIV>20 Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Arcane Hand</DIV> <DIV>Unrest</DIV>

I am not high enough for the second trait, but that opens the question of: with our buffs (or atleast Hunters Instincts) and whatever else that may come, is there a cap?My major concern is hitting and not getting hit. I'd just hate to waste a trait on something that was useless.
I'll go for AGI everytime I can choose a stat on my Woof Elf. Why? Because our role is to deal damage, which is something we'll mostly do with our bows at level 50 in raids. STA would be good also, but I personally think something like STR to be kinda wasted. It'll help you get to level 50, especially when soloing, but then you'll do a bit less damage than the full AGI rangers. That's my min/maxer's opinion, feel free to correct me <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I would recommend increasing a stat that is way below average. If you have very low WIS, you might be tempted to raise it so that you can resist more AoE spells in the endgame. If you have below average STA, you might want to increase it so that you have more hitpoints for those times where you draw too much aggro or take AoE damage.</P> <P> </P> <P>That's how I would approach the decision. If my AGI is very high, I don't see the point in increasing it as I'm sure there will be equipment to help me raise it to the cap where I might have more difficulty raising some of the other stats near the end. Also, keep in mind that these stat increases really only add maybe 1-2% better ability as it is all about how well YOU play the character and not how well the character is min/max. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
<DIV>The point is the moreagility you have the more DAMAGE you do .. the LESS HITS you take, rather than an extra 20 hp i would rather avoid a 300 damage hit.. i have about 115 agility and i evade a hell of a lot ... You can never have enough agility... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>But that said the idea of traits is to make us all UNIQUE.. Personally i think agility will help us more than anything else but its all personal choice on howyou want your character developed..</DIV>

<DIV>Rangers exist to do damage. Pick agility.</DIV>
