i think the price of arrows is too high. the cheap ones that suck are 2cp, so 99 of them is 1sp. if you want good ones, you can pay anywhere from 5-10sp for 99. maybe im just poor, but i dont know how im going to stay constantly stocked. were the only class that HAS to buy their things to kill (arrows). seems like especially when we get to higher levels and are constantly using arrows, its gonna kill our wallets. anyone have insight on this? and no, i cant be a woodworker cuz i chose scholar before i knew what i was going to be as a class/subclass >.<

<DIV>Once you get Makeshift Arrows, and upgrade it to at least App2, you won't have to worry much about arrows. I haven't bought any arrows in quite awhile.</DIV>

<DIV>As someone mentioned -- get at least App 2.  App 2 summons 15 Arrows, App 3 summons 20.</DIV>

<blockquote><hr>Matathios wrote:i jsut read ti onyl summons 10 arrows with a 10 min refresh time. how does that last you guys?<hr></blockquote>Bind the same key to makeshift arrow as move forward, or the left mouse button, or anything else you use frequently. That way whenever you play you never forget to constantly summon them.If you're in a group in the early 20s, you usually just step back to fire off the odd backshot or open shot, then go back to melee. Until you have a few more ranged disciplines you'll do more damage using shrouded strike, followed by shadow blade or shadowflame (and throwing in pierce, bleed, impale etc), while you wait for back shot to come back up than standing there wasting arrows. In this situation 15 arrows per 10 minutes just about lasts you. And bear in mind all the time you spend running round qeynos, lfg, or doing anything else, you'll be summoning arrows too to build a stockpile.

I did a little research on a few of the cheapest arrows1 cp tin arrows bought outside antonica (30 dmg with back shot)7cp hunting iron arrows bought outside antonica (60 dmg with back shot)6cp iron arrows bought in baubleshire (220 dmg with backshot)so i recommend going to baubleshire and picking up plain iron arrows to start out with, they seem to work pretty well for the cheap arrows.Kylik20 RangerLucan D'Lere

The summoned arrows are carbonite, and as people say they are quite nice. I think carbonite is above iron in damage. However after seeing the big leap in damage numbers from tin to carbonite, i can only wonder what the top priced arrows will do, and when i'll be able to afford them. I still love my free ones tho. I'm hoping fletchers will sell them relatively cheap... i'm sure it wont cost too much to make them, when you consider that harvested resources are free, except for the time they take to gather. Guess we'll see.

<DIV>I just started making Iron Hunting Arrows, and it costs me 78c to make a pristine combine (yields 20 arrows). That works out to be 4cp per arrow. It would be hard to find a craftsman to sell these arrows under 10cp per, I think most would be inclined to sell higher profit margin items considering the time investment to make them. Sounds to me like the "cheap" arrows will be best to get from the NPC merchants, but since the only "real" cost to make the arrows (if you can get a friend to make the alchemy components) are fuel, then the higher end arrows may be cheaper from players.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, if you can gather resources (especially if you can make the alchemy items) you could get a relationship up with a craftsman or woodworker and supply them the basics and have them combine them for you. I am doing this with a guild friend, we both benefit, he gets a 4 cp arrow, I get exp for crafting. Just a thought, expecially for those woodworker arrows, a symbiotic relationship like this is a great thing.</DIV>

I suffer with makeshift carbonite for now... :smileymad:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Can I get some advice from higher level Rangers on how they dealt with this problem?  Did you all simply keep using Carbonite until Fey became affordable?  At what point did Fey become affordable?  The damage increase from Makeshift Carbonite to Fey is insanely noticeable... I really want to be using Fey at this time...  I figure to keep up with the costs, I would have to rake in 10-12gp per XP session to allow for arrows and some profit for other things.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

i think most use carbonite for regular exp and fey iron previously ripped for boss encounters... i can also see people running around ripping lots of greys with many hitpoints <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

if you did this with tin arrows then i guess you would have outright killed that thing with iron or carbonite arrows ^^

<DIV>Tin arrows are supposed to suck....they are the lowest, crappiest arrow you can use.  Most people will use them til they get Makeshift Arrow simply because iron arrows cost a lot more.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>before 21 I only used arrows to pull, not as a real source of damage.  But at 24 I rely on arrows to take down mobs when I solo.  I will even hit Impede in the middle of a fight and run backwards to fire off an Open Shot.</DIV>

<DIV>fighting with friends I pretty much decide whether or not I want to melee, as I can just sit back and Arrow things to death.  It's great when you get the killing blow with a backshot and the graphic shows the arrow as lodging in the mobs neck.  SO COOL!</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Last night I nailed a mob with open shot and it showed the arrows, one in each buttock, about dead center.  That gave me a good chuckle. </DIV>

<DIV>I'm not sure if those damage stats are totally correct because i did alot more damage using backshot with tin arrows then what is posted up above, I mean its a far cry from what i do with my carbonites but it was a least double what  was posted up above with the tin.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Decsimus</DIV> <DIV>21 Ranger</DIV> <DIV>Unrest server</DIV> <DIV>Arcane Hand</DIV>
