View Full Version : Dirge Change I'd Like To See

Here is what I would like to see done to the Dirge class.  (I know this will never happen, but I think it would be a cool change.) 1. Change Lifetap skills to return 100% health.  2. Add new song linges.  Group Heal, Group Mana Heal, Single Heal w/long reuse, Single Power Heal w/long resuse.   Each of these abilities would cost health and not power.  The group heals would, obviously, not heal much but help add o the group while the single heals would be emergency spells on a long retimer (30min+).  Each would take roughly 50% of our hit points to cast.  (which we then get back by lifetapping). I think this would increase our soloability a little (by getting better lifetaps) and groupability (health and power is good), would fit with our class, and would provide a unique way of playign the game (playing through health management as a support class). <div></div>

I think 100% return life taps would be a bit too powerful, that's like a 500 point heal every  10 seconds <div></div>

I don't think the healing songs would be in line with the concept of a Dirge. To quote the book: <blockquote>"Dirges are singers of angry songs alaments. using the power of cacophony to subdue their enemies. Their songs of rage inspire the fury of battle in their allies" </blockquote> I play my Dirge to play music, kill stuff and the cool debuffs and buffs.  I like being all aggressive.  If I wanted to be purely supportive I'd play a troubadour.  Besides that if I want to be a healer I'll play my Warden.  It makes no sense to turn Dirges into healers. <div></div>

It wouldn't be too powerful.  It isn't that much more than we can heal now.  (I heal at 150pts every cycle of our skills at lvl 42).   It's not enough to allow us to solo things that we shouldn't (couldn't really solo anything we can't solo now).    I don't think a little blood magic (or blood music) is out of line with the class.   Dirge's are more tied into the lifeforce than their counterparts and are thus able to manipulate it more adeptly <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />  <div></div>

Well... I'd support seeing the immovable/long cast song lifetap return a higher percentage (100%?  I dunno... we aren't masters of lifeforce.  Necros maybe, but it's very atypical to see 100% return on any tap-type spell).  As is now, the Daro's Dull blade return would be WAY too frequent at 100% heal rate.
